Well, Fibrizos original goal was destroy the world and let it prepared for the demons, but (I do not know why) he can not do it by himself, so he forced Lina to use the Giga Slave. In the manga, he does not take the form of a child as he does in the anime: He posseses a little girl, and speaks from her. I remember that he tryes to destroy her at first, but after seeing that it was impossible, he hides in the other dimension, but LON finally chases him.
Remember that Fibrizo took everyone's life in the previous episode? He killed people crushing their sould (represented by yellow balls). L.O.N. does exactly the same thing. The only difference is that the ball that represent Fibrizo's life is bigger because mazoku have much greater power than any human.
So in anime it is a mistake. I've read somewhere that barely speaking name of Lord Of Nightmares can scare mazoku so much that he is nearly paralyzed of terror. So logicaly, when LoN was standing in phibrizzo's eyes he should panic, instead of attacking. Or maybe he has gone insane of fear? Maybe he tried to destroy Lina possesed by LoN because he went mad? Well... at least that's how Kanzaka wiki describes this event...
@@lox834 who knows maybe the angels or Grand Priest or Zen-oh the Omniking directly have a real chance to stop Fibrizo, but surely if instead of Zamasu, Majin Buu or any other villain there was the Hellmaster or Shabranigdu or Dark Star nobody in Dragonball even the OP version of Heroes could not have stopped them without knowing the spells or having the five weapons of light available and above all without becoming the physical Avatar of Lord of Nightmares (but how cool it would have been if Goku instead of using Ultra Instinct had merged his will with L-Sama's? he would have simply been invincible)
but how badass would a crossover be between Slayers and Dragonball (Z or Super or Heroes) or Slayers and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? it would be spectacular
Shinzoku couldn't help because most, if not ALL of them were outside mazoku barrier created during the Koma war (to trap Ragradia so Shabranigdo and Gaav could destroy him). So Lina was pretty much on her own in fighting Phibrizzo, as nobody, even the dragon lords couldn't break through the powerful barrier created by four demon lords. And yeah... anime is kinda loosely following the novels. One of nice original features of the anime is Lina-Gourry love :D (It doesn't exist in novels).
Actually not "let it prepared for demons" but totaly obliterate it and return it to chaos (as far as I know). And why can't he do it by himself? There are still shinzoku. Shabranigdo is sleeping, cut into 7 pieces, yet Ceiphied still exists in form of 4 dragon kings (one of them dead though - Ragradia) and dragons serving them. So instead of fighting them along with other mazoku and potentially depleting his power, he simply had idea to force Lina Inverse to destroy the world at once.

Yet doesn't change the fact that it is very nice theme, which should be little bit more expanded ;) Kanzaka said he's poor at writing romantic scenes, but man... it doesn't have to be full of them. Lina and Gourry aren't romantics, yet it would be very amusing to see them adventuring around as a real couple, not just a sorceress and her protector feeling something unknown for each other.

原作がっつり読み込まないとここいら理解しにくいんだよね。
しかも原作とアニメでLONの行動や意識に対する解釈が違ったらしいし。
原作:単純にフィブリゾが攻撃してきたからぷち切れた
アニメ:リナの想いに応えた
原作では制御出来ずに乗っ取られた
アニメではギガスレ自体がLONの召喚魔法

The Hellmaster would have been an absolutely perfect villain in Zamasu's place
