Just did this with basic tools along the street parking on our 2012 T&C with 144k miles. The squealing sound is gone and we can hear the beautiful V6 again, the squealing was quite intense. Thanks for a very good detailed video.

I just did this job this morning on ramps without removing the wheel. Another video suggested putting the belt on the alternator last because it had the smallest pulley but that didn't work for me. It looks like you went with the water pump last which is what I eventually did since it had no lip and you can just slip the belt right on. Your video was very helpful and I referred to it along the way. Seems to be a success so far.

I was watching for the torque specs as I've done this before but the socket sizes were still helpful.

Great video! Short, sweet. Could have mentioned the keyway for the tensioner, alignment bolt for the idler pulley, and torque specs, but most DIYers would just fumble through fine with this straightforward short step-by-step. Thanks again!

About to change my serpentine belt, our 2012 is noisy. Seems like it's very accessible and stuff. Great video, left a like.

Good video with no extra junk, some might know how to look up belt placement but that added belt placement diagram was very cool. Subscribed!

Pretty good production. It would help to get a view from farther back to see that the car is way up on a lift. Does it really help to say how easy a job it is from a mechanic who has done the job many times?

Great video, thanks! Did you also do a coolant/thermostat change before this video? Is that why everything is wet with coolant?

Make sure that you push the half inch square all the way into the tensioner hole otherwise it'll round out the metal and you might pinch your hand behind the pulley

Awesome video. I followed along and changed all 3 components as well and got rid of a squealing belt as well as a more recent ticking coming from the tensioner arm I presume. Thank you!

This is not a 4.0 that it is being demonstrated on, correct? I just went a little crazy with that belt routing diagram thinking _oh no mine isn't like that_ !

Keep the old but felt in case the new one ever breaks put the old one underneath the driver seat and have the tools ready to release the tensioner

I noticed a small amount of white smoke at the end. Is that because the rubber belt is new and is getting heated up by being used?

How long should this take for a professional mechanic to complete?I will buy the parts for myself. It has been suggested because of a squeaking sound from the motor on that side. Buying the parts online keeps the mechanic markup off the bill.

So, I'm getting the belt to shift over a rib towards the engine on the crank shaft pulley and when I situate the belt it stays but then the power steering pulley shifts forward a rib. So, I am thinking is there a directional marking on the serpentine belt I should be aware of?

  • @vinloy23

I think R&R is only possible from the bottom. I wonder if drive on ramps will be sufficient height to do it. Otherwise off to the mechanic it goes.

You can jack up the van on both front sides, secure with stands, remove a wheel and do the same like in the video,

Cars when they are getting 80.000.00 miles you must replace it. It's a common maintenance procedure...
