Where can you get the surrounds for the fb1000 or marantz ls95 woofers, any known source?

Looks easy on the video to get rid of the excess foam/glue. The glue on my FB821 speakers (after removing the foam) is extremely sticky, almost like thick asphalt.

      Good evening,
If I’m correct the frames of the bass speakers and midrange are treated with powder coating to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. This means that in opposite of paint the frame can withstand a liquid like thinner or sticker-remover. I used thinner on the midrange with success. Warning: note these are very strong liquids and very flammable. And if even then it’s not possible to remove all old glue, the glue can remain (If the glue is very strong and flat.). If you glue over remaining old glue let the frame with the old glue dry from the liquid first. Then check if the old glue is still strong enough to glue over it.
      Best regards, Fred

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I used acetone, and that got rid of all the old super-sticky glue on the chassis. Still impossible to get rid of all the sticky glue along the edge of the membrane, though. Afraid of destroying it if using too much force/acetone. Oh well, did mye best, most of it is gone. The new foam rings looks to be high quality, by the way. Will try gluing them on tomorrow.

Good afternoon, indeed the cone is often some vulnerable. Also because it is a closed cabinet you need flexible surrounds. The air in the cabinet
needs to handle most of the mechanical resistance, because this resistance is more linear than the mechanical resistance of the combination spider plus surround. I have here a pair of Philips FB821. I connected them to a NAD C326BEE amplifier witch works great. It isn’t often the price of the amplifier that does the trick, but the match. Also the speaker often has to play in a while. Best regards, Fred

I'll take you up on testing with a NAD if I get my hands on one. For the time being I'm using the original FA950 AMP and CD950 player.
The repair went well btw. The speakers are back in good shape, playing not too loud in the beginning. The glue took quite a few minutes to "bite" the chassis, but when id does, man it bites! Thanks for making the repair possible with your product.

Good afternoon, first thanks for your reply. You can find all about our glue on the link: www.repairyourspeakers.com/index.php?action=extra&extra=A_lijm___penseel___vloeistof&lang=en
PVA, if it dries up flexible, is possible. But PVA is not as strong and flexible as our industrial glue.

I just tried this repair but using gel superglue - total fail, cures too quickly to get the surround aligned properly. glue sticks super good to the rubber though. I used same glue to fix the surround on an infinity subwoofer and it worked perfectly. Live and learn.
