@@kevinmckenna5389 I did not - best I was able to find on the internet is : 1. Put your key in the ignition and turn to the first position. 2. Hold down the trip reset button - DO NOT LET GO! 3. Turn the key to the second position while continuing to hold the trip set button. 4. After a couple seconds you should see the orange triangle warning light flash off and on quickly a couple times. 5. Let go of the reset button and press once. 6. If it works correctly, the trip set should go back to the miles you initially had before you started the process and the warning light and message should be gone. Note - may take a couple tries to get it to work - you have to wait until you see the warning light flash repeatedly.
When pouring from a large jug, to avoid the glug glug splash splash, orient the jug with the spout at the top to allow air in as the oil pours out. Otherwise the glug glug may make a mess that you will have to clean up. Also the oil pours out faster with a smooth stream that is easy to guide.
You can also pop a hole on top of the handle side of the jug (above the oil of course) and pour it like that. Air enters the hole and the pour is smooth.
Yes, that would make the pouring smoother and more controllable so as to not make a mess, but I use the jugs for the used waste oil to carry to the recycling center.
Very good engine. Tried and true. I have had it in a S80 and now in my XC90. A little underpowered for the XC90, but it works and doesn't get terrible fuel economy for such a heavy vehicle.
@@mikem2022 thank you. I ended up getting a 2011 xc70 3.2 with about 75k miles. Did you use synthetic blend or full synthetic? The vehicle has always been serviced with GTX synthetic blend.
I have a question about the oil. When I was looking at the owner's manual it was recommended to use Castrol. This is my first time with a European car (previously I've owned and worked on just Japanese and American cars, a friend of mine who just moved out of the country gave me her Volvo). Are there any brands of oil I should give priority to, or any brands I should avoid for this engine?
@@mikeandroidappletv2184 I live in Texas so this advice is very much appreciated. Thank you. What about additives? I've heard that LiquiMoly is good for European engines, but I've always used LucasOil.
Why are you using 0W30 when the owners manual recommends 5w30?
Thank you so much!! This was incredibly helpful and easy to follow!
Nice work!!
Great video, and super easy - but how do you reset the "service required" light on the dash after you do this?
Did you ever get an answer?

Thank you man!
Our pleasure!
For D5 engine same amount of oil or? Thx😅
Are these reliable after 100k miles?
I’m looking at 2011 xc90 3.2 with 125k miles to buy but not sure if they are good buy

Enjoy that badass wagon mate!
2011 XC 90 with 233k and still running good. Bought at 200k and have only had to change alternator

Any A5/B5 rated oil should be fine. You can use 5W30 or 5W40 if you live in warm region.

😅
Decent video, but the music sucks.
Hopefully, you came for the oil change, not the music! 😅
