Jason & the Scorchers in the late 80s are the best live band I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of gigs. They were a force of nature and pure energy. Love Warner's playing and great to see him on the channel.

      They were absolutely great
Warner Hodges was really something to experience
      Saw them probably 15-20 times
I was at the Cats records on west end show when Jason hung the flag in the billboard

Saw SRV live in Denver in early August 1990, just three weeks prior to the tragic crash. It was an outdoor venue and a beautiful Colorado summer evening. He shared the bill with Joe Cocker. Two absolute legends and they both performed like legends that night. Best live concert I ever witnessed and I’ve attended quite a few - now 78 years old . The memory of Stevie’s performance that night even more cemented in my brain after hearing of his death just a few short weeks after.

I never got to see SRV one of the regrets of my life because he played my town many times, but for some reason (stupidity) back then I didnt go.

I see SRV in Quebec city before he die . It was a good show , he blows warm in his left hand with his breath because it was a bit cold . I remember that ,1989 maybe .

Love a good Stevie story. I caught a set of his at The Rome Inn in Austin before he hit it big. He was just Jimmy’s little brother then. Summer of ‘80, I believe it was. Stevie and I spoke briefly between sets. He had a big ole Texas grin that night. I got the feeling he was feeling no pain, but damn he was great.

Hey Otis and Warner. I'm really enjoying these stories!
I saw the tour with J&TS and Stevie Ray. The Agora in Connecticut. It was a mindblowing show for a young guitarist/music fan like me.
Two major things happened for me that night:
I became a huge fan of Jason and The Scorchers.
I lost some hearing and gained some ringing in my left ear from those super-loud Fenders of SRV.,
Great memories either way. Thanks guys for all that you do!

Warner has been a favourite guitarist of mine since I discovered Jason and The Scorchers in the late 80s. A killer band that never got their due. Great tunes, great playing, a great punk rock band that sidled their way into country music legend .

Great Stuff Otis as always... I saw Jason and The Nashville Scorchers (JATNS) in 80 or 81 opening for REM at Cantrell's (Far and away Nashville's most underground and progressive music venue at the time), & they always had new talent like these great bands and while I'd heard their name, I had no idea what was about to hit me with JATNS. Their entire show was, well, insane...🎸🔥
The key memory I have of that night was Jason playing a tambourine so hard it was sure to disintegrate, but then he put it around his neck, stole a drum stick from the drummer, started beating the tambourine with the drum stick, and then continued singing, never missing a word, as he lept from the stage and ran around into, thru & around the mass of gobsmacked, disbelieving and Screaming! people who like me, had just become lifelong JATNS fans, whether they knew it or not (& We knew it instantly!)
    PS-REM was ok too...😂)

Saw SRV many times for around $5 will going to college in San Marcos/SWT in the 80's. We would drive up to Austin, or he would come down to San Marcos and play at Cheatham Street Warehouse. Man, we had no idea how special he was at the time...there were so many great guitarist in Tejas at the time.

That’s awesome. Wish I’d seen that. Beck was only like 45 then. Of course, he just got better with age. I didn’t see him till 2019. Saw Stevie several times, though.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen Jason in the scorcher! My twin brother and I ended up partying with Perry Baggs on New Year’s Eve in Nashville in 1988. He was driving us around to all the clubs calling us the twins from hell! Even dragged us up on stage at a couple of joints! Best live band ever!

One of my friends dad had a bar supply business and was into the blues. One day at his house we were listnin to blues and his dad came in the room and said if yall like blues go to Faces, a bar on cedar springs and throckmorton, a few blocks from mother blues which was another fantastic music venue. We went and saw the thunderbirds and became regulars at all the thunderbirds and stevie bar gigs in dallas for the next 10 years.
I usually saw them twice a week and hung out with em during breaks. And anson funderburgh had a free for all on monday nights at the original poor davids pub on mckinney. Everyone was there in this tiny place. Anson was a great human being also. Much love

Jason and the Nashville Scorchers were absolutely Great
Warners playing was just incredible he was one of the very best of that time and that time was full of serious heavy weights
I saw them probably 15-20 times
I was at the cats records on west end show where Jason climbed the billboard to hang the flag
After the show I Saw a blue convertible corvette sting ray that sounded like a top fuel dragster peel out in front of HG hills all the way up west end
    Had to be going 120mph
    Crazy night
    Crazy times
