If you're intimidated by radical red but want to get into the challenge ROM hacks, renegade platinum is an easy choice. It's very good and you get so many pokemon to choose from
I second this! Follows the storyline, but makes the fights more challenging. With that, you can catch every single pokemon up to that generation for more fun, weak Pokemon get buffed so that they become more viable, and the "grinding" isn't too bad since you can do training at the pokemon daycare in order to EV train easily.

Glad you enjoyed it! I think the only real detractor for Quetzal for me is that it isn't an original story. If it had its own plot line, it would be top tier for sure, it has SO much else going for it!

This is a pretty good tier list. Hurts to see Clover in C tier, but was made up with seeing the Crizzle hacks, Prism, and Crystal Clear. So yeah, I'll stick around watch the rest of your videos.
Fun video, although a bit more info on each of the hacks would have been nice, as a fellow romhack fan who hasn't played some of them and was hoping for some more technical info to decide if I wanted to try em. As far as recommendations: If you are willing to dip your toes into gen 4, Pokemon Renegade Platinum is my favorite romhack of all time. The same guy also did a great romhack of Soul Silver/Heart Gold called Sacred Gold/Storm Silver which is pretty good, although a bit more dated. Pokemon Deadwood is also pretty amusing, and I feel obligated to mention SmithPlays' new Crystal Legacy and Yellow Legacy hacks, for fairly authentic experiences with a lot of quality of life upgrades and a bit more difficulty.

Long comment inbound (subscribed btw) Pokemon Clover: Easy S tier. You already covered the two big hurdles: offensive humor and fakemon. If these are an issue for you, I get it. But, these aside, Clover is absolutely incredible. Game balance is the best out there, tough but fair. The fakemon are excellent and very well done. There's tons of content, a new region and story, and an absolutely incredible OST. Plus, New Game + to do it all again. GS Chronicles: F Tier. Sorry. I've made three separate attempts to get through it, but it's a buggy awful mess. FireRed Rocket Edition: B Tier. Mostly overrated. Story is decent, but it gets way too whack near the end for my tastes. Gameplay is unremarkable. Crystal Clear: Shuck Fockslayer tier. Prism is better. Play Radical Red. If you were able to get through Clover, you can definitely beat Normal difficulty. Promise. A few recommendations: Gaia, Obsidian Emerald, and Inclement Emerald. Edit: Btw, where'd you get the box art for these?

I don't know if you have heard of it yet, but there's another team rocket rom hack, it was translated from Spanish. It isn't completely translated but it is translated up to end game and post game but the other two regions aren't translated from what I've seen.
If you haven't played it yet and love Gen 2, I'd say give Polished Crystal a shot. It's the best Gen 2 rom hack for me, fleshes out Johto a lot without making it feel like it's not Gen 2 anymore, ups the difficulty but not so much that it becomes Radical Red-like, makes a ton of mons more viable and is graphically really pretty. It also adds some extra stuff from the Orange league and events from HGSS. Definitely try it out if you love Johto !
I recommend playing Coral Version, it's a Gen 2 hack set in a new region and has some quality of life features. However do keep in mind that the game only goes up to the 4th gym and beyond.
I know you mentioned how you were chasing the high of Firered Team Rocket, there's a new one that recently got translated to English just last week! Very easy to confuse with Firered one, but this one's called Team Rocket Edition, you play as team rocket with a ton of expanded gameplay. Unfortunately no stealing in this one though.
Team Rocket definitely S tier. I remember having fun with snakewood years ago I think it was one of my first rom hacks I played. The only thing I remeber was having a qwilshark, a dragoone and one one the eggs. A tier imo
quite literally last month I saw my friend playing pokemon off his phone it looked like emerald but I saw a pokemon who’s evolution looked far different from what I had got when I was younger been hooked on roms for months now
Very good video for a channel of your size but you missed a LOT of pretty big hacks, and you certainly could have been more descriptive with some of the hacks you did include. Though I certainly understand not wanting to spend months playing through every significant Pokemon ROM hack just for one video Anyways if you're going to be ranking more romhacks please consider Mario 64, criminally underrated scene for just how high quality it is and all of its significant hacks are much shorter than the average pokemon romhack (except for the most popular one, 471 stars and a maddeningly confusing metroidvania on top of that lol)

A romhack i really enjoyed was pokemon fool's gold like altered its a type swap romhack but its a hack of pokemon crystal! in the newest(and final) version they added a whole 3rd region with gen 3 mons (havent gotten that far tho) the spritework is great too! and all gen 1-3 mons that evolve after gen 3 do get their evolutions from 4-9 my fave sprites in it are the dark-psychic meowth and dragon-psychic flygon
Play Pokemon Crown(A Complete revamp of the combat system in a FRLG Rom), Pokemon Coral (GBC fan region), Amalgamagenta(Pokemon typeswap and new storyline) and R.O.W.E(An Emerald Roguelike)
I would trade GS Chronicles with Shiny Gold Sigma *BUT* but main issue with Sigma is that they add a lot without really putting much of a difficulty curve on the game. The original Shiny Gold, while buggy, was amazing for the pure fact that it was harder and it added more rivals to the game. You literally get your starter and are thrown into a battle with "Carlos" right out the gate. I haven't played the most recent Sigma update but I'll always remember the original Shiny Gold for giving you a bunch of rivals and making the game fairly difficult. Definitely consider checking that out Also please do recommend me some remakes that add a difficulty curve. I know Crystal Legacy by TH-camr SmithPlays Pokémon but it's in the original Crystal graphics. Anything like that but with newer ones?
I haven't tried either of them yet, but I've heard both Inclement Emerald and Radical Red are pretty tough! Or if you're truly a masochist, you can always do Emerald Kaizo!

My recommendations DBZ team training: where you play as a character that can capture dragon ball characters. It has a lot of content. Pokémon fire ash, it follows all of ash’s journey. Has every region up to gen 8. Including the battle frontier.
You should play Radical Red. If you're that scared of it then just don't play Hardcore mode. Normal mode is how the game is intended after all. I'm currently working on my 2nd Hardcore Nuzlocke on the 4.1 version and it is amazing once you figure out the AI.
I wouldn't call clover edgy in the regular sense of a pokemon romhack, it's a lot of edgy humor for sure, but when I call a Pokémon fangame edgy I only see the shit like pokemon reborn with death and cringeworthy dialogues everywhere
Some recommendations I have is 4 GBC hacks; Pokemon Fool's Gold which is gen 2 story and mechanics but every pokemon is redesigned with different types, and they even added Sevii islands as a post post game where all Hoenn Pokemon are available and redesigned with new types and a new storyline. Pokemon Pyrite which is Gen 2 but more access to Pokemon like early Larvitar in Dark Cave and increased difficulty but not as bad as Crystal Kaizo which is also fun if you're extreme about wanting a challenge. The third is Pokemon Pyrite which is Gen 2 mechanics but in a new cool region that loops around and there's those scrapped beta Pokemon that are cool. The 4th one I just remembered but it was good. The post game is still being finished but the whole thing is fun and cool its basically Gen 2 but with some new things added and every mon is a fakemon. Also Yu-Gi-Oh Pokeduel on GBA is really cool it's basically Fire Red but with Yu-Gi-Oh monsters and characters. It's challenging too.
Ok to be honest outside of your s tiers and glazed, quetzal and the trashlocke i never heard of any of these. Im surprised Insurgence and Uranium arent in here or any of the kaizo games. Then again the kaizo ones are mainly a difficulty challenge just like radical red or renegade platinum. Still i would really recommend you playing Insurgence, its one of the most popular out there and while it can be a little bit edgy at times i loved it and its delta pokemon system aswell as the new megas. But yeah the main selling point of Insurgence is its story ^^ Other than that i would keeep your eyes open for is Pokemon Pathways. Its not finished yet, but it has a lot of potential with its branching storyline once everything is implemented.
Right off the bat I gotta recommend my favorites. Pokemon Gold 97 Reforged Pokemon Prism Pokemon Coral (If they ever FINISH IT !! Would be my favorite if it was completed) And Pokemon Unbound, Gaia, and Brown would be my honorable mentions.
Sad that there's no essentials games and other fangames included. Pokemon Insurgence and Pokemon Infinite Fusion are really good for example. Like, Fused Dimensions doesn't even come close to Infinite Fusion. Also I recommend you to play Pokemon Emerald Kaizo. It's quite difficult, but an absolute blast in my opinion.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Ulta violet and dark violet or DBZ team training or theta emerald or orange islands or sors Theta emerald is a emerald hack that is supposed to be the third game to omega ruby and alpha sapphire Dark violet focuses on mewtwo Ultra violet is fire red plus leaf green where you can get every pokemon from the 2 games like how crystal is for gen 2 but you get mew around misty and trade pokemon evolve through level up and shiny odds aren't horrible DBZ team training you catch Dragonball characters using capsule corp capsules and the houses and NPC look like Dragonball characters so fire red but you can choose goku as a starter from professors briefs Orange islands is like the sequel to ash gray that takes place in the anime orange islands so it has those cool tropical Butterfree that only appear in the anime Pokemon sors is honestly a must play you play as the bad guys son and your dad is trying to stop your mom from killing everyone with thia new dark energy that change pokemon into eclipse type basically a dark purple reskin with it's own moves and there is so many pokemon it released episode like so you have to patch it multiple times like episode 1 gets you to this location then you can't continue without downloading the next patch but its worth the trouble to get the full game because it's probably the best rom hack I've played

I don't remember GS Chronicles being that bad, It just felt like a mediocre version of HGSS (like 90% of rom hacks based on Johto.)

Sad that there's no essentials games and other fangames included. Pokemon Insurgence and Pokemon Infinite Fusion are really good for example. Like, Fused Dimensions doesn't even come close to Infinite Fusion. Also I recommend you to play Pokemon Emerald Kaizo. It's quite difficult, but an absolute blast in my opinion.
If you love gen 2 you have to play crystal legacy

I'm surprised you didn't mention Ulta violet and dark violet or DBZ team training or theta emerald or orange islands or sors
Theta emerald is a emerald hack that is supposed to be the third game to omega ruby and alpha sapphire
Dark violet focuses on mewtwo
Ultra violet is fire red plus leaf green where you can get every pokemon from the 2 games like how crystal is for gen 2 but you get mew around misty and trade pokemon evolve through level up and shiny odds aren't horrible
DBZ team training you catch Dragonball characters using capsule corp capsules and the houses and NPC look like Dragonball characters so fire red but you can choose goku as a starter from professors briefs
Orange islands is like the sequel to ash gray that takes place in the anime orange islands so it has those cool tropical Butterfree that only appear in the anime
Pokemon sors is honestly a must play you play as the bad guys son and your dad is trying to stop your mom from killing everyone with thia new dark energy that change pokemon into eclipse type basically a dark purple reskin with it's own moves and there is so many pokemon it released episode like so you have to patch it multiple times like episode 1 gets you to this location then you can't continue without downloading the next patch but its worth the trouble to get the full game because it's probably the best rom hack I've played
