I couldn't imagine how cool it would be to have Ed King himself compliment me for how I played his song. Just being here in the same place Ed once was is kinda cool. Rest in peace Ed, you were loved and respected and will forever be missed ☮️
Jim, I have to say ... YES...you nailed it. Ed would have been impressed and honored ! I played with him for 4 years, humble and appreciative of life and music. You did a GREAT job - I don't say that lightly !
Ed King was Amazing story l sure l have alot of admiration for a Cailfornia Sounthern Rocker. Wow Strawberry Alram Clock Crazy one extreme to Another. LOVE THE LEGACY AND THE MAN
Such a great solo and you killed it. I don't know how I never saw this when I was figuring out my own cover. Awesome job, and what an honor to have had Ed himself comment on your video!
one of my fav Ed King solos....so much cool stuff goin' on...the only thing missing here is that Ed switches to the bridge pickup halfway through and uses his whammy bar at spots for effect...slammin' job though
@SuperD104 Yeah I'd love to see Ed play again too!!! You can watch the full version of this video if you search for southern breeze mca Thanks for the comment. Jim
@jaxmikey59 Hey thanks! I love Lynyrd Skynyrd and Ed King always has a way of making his guitar squeal at just the perfect part of his solos. Of course he comes up with some of the best guitar riffs of all time too.
Allen,Gary,Steve, and Ed on stage at the same time? Now that would be a guitar ARMY . I saw them with Ed twice, the first time Ed was on Bass and Allen stepped on my fingers at the edge of the stage while playing the end solo in Freebird. didn't hurt a bit ;-)
sounds pretty cool to bad the video got cut off before the song was over.I always loved ed kings guitar playing and style.Sure do miss seeing ed play with gary.I always thought it would be cool to see ed and artimus and randall hall start and kick ass band.anyway great god bro,
awesome playing,Ed King is a unreal player, but I understand that Gary actually came up with the intro's .Just think without a few cowpies we may have never known the talent behind the awesome band. Thank you Mr. Cow ! (this may have went over some's head) I would have liked to have heard Allen,Gary,Steve, and Ed on stage at the same time ! What might have been,we will never know !
Forgive me for correcting you but you're thinking of Sweet Home Alabama, Gary was playing a part that Ed then created the signature riff for. He said if Gary hadn't been playing what he was playing he never would have come up with his part but this song is "ALL ED" !
Thanks Jeffery, folks back then learned by playing the 33 rpm record at 16 rpm's to get it almost half speed then we could pick out the parts LOL!! I just really enjoyed doing it ;-)
Most front men cut their lead off but the only time Ronnie cut ED off was if he let something unreleased out 😂 you see Ronnie smile and hang the mic up as the crowd loved it. Respect!
That's pure talent and sadly we don't see it anymore. Mostly synthesizers, computers and apps. I grew up in the 70's and 80's and in my opinion was the best music ever put out. Even country has a strong run from 50' to 80's several periods in between a lot of good artists. Classic and Southern Rock 70's to 80's was killer music. What makes music great is think about this. When your child listens to music that came out when you were there age and it's still popular that's solid gold.
@@gregoryb2999 Yeah, same here. And what's funny is some of the tunes my kids listened to when they were little in the 90's (STP & Soundgarden) kinda stuck with me ha ha! It's cool how we influenced each other. I'm glad I grew up in the 70's and soaked it all in. Take care
Thanks Galen, Ed said he doesn't enjoy playing Firebirds but he says it works for me ok. Ed comes up with some challenging parts, he slides around alot. like he does when he plays bass guitar. He's a great player!!!
I'm flattered! Probably the best I've heard. Maybe even better than MY OWN. Good job.
Rest In Peace Ed 😞
Wow, what a great compliment. Couldn't get a better one.

Ed King was outstanding
Wow..that’s back in the old days when playing local clubs in Jax. They would bring the house down. Seems like only yesterday.😞

@CatfishCounts Thanks man, Lynyrd Skynyrd gave us some of the BADDEST guitar licks of ALL TIME and I truly enjoy playing their music .
Your guitarist is great. Keep up the good work.
Hey thanks James

Very good, close, I saw gains play this solo, was there Oakland coliseum, 70s before plane accident. Gains played it just like the album!
I'm glad you got to see them. I saw them in '74 & '75 I'll never forget it. They were great!

Ed was from California.
@CCDAGO : It's me...and I'm glad to be RETIRED.
