    I miss Calgary soooo much. Love the city and the people. My fave bar, Bear and Kilt, spent many a night in there eating wings and watching ice hockey. Was so glad I was there to watch Canada beat Russia in the Winter Olympics. And the art and sculptures are amazing. If I was younger I'd be living there for sure. Calgary rocks 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦

    I lived in Calgary and was always surprised that its economy is mainly driven by the energy industry. The city has so much to offer. It’s very beautiful and so close (1hr drive) to the Rockies and some of the best ski/hiking resorts.

      Viva, would you recommend me spend my whole two week ttrip from London UK to Calgary in Banff? or should I spend a couple nights at the end or start in the city?
      if so, where in the city would be a good place to stay? and where would be a good area to rent a car from so we can drive around Banff and other places?
      Thanks so much, I hope you see this comment!

      @@1stklass Fellow Canadian here I saw your comment! A great place that’s not to far from Calgary Is Kananaskis County which is just off highway 40 of the trans Canada highway between Banff and Calgary it has a ski resort, great hiking trails, beautiful waterfalls and lakes you can swim in. The great thing about it is it’s rather untouched by parks Canada and is where you’ll see the most wild life!

    Calgary's downtown doesn't have a very dense population due to bad planning back in the initial boom years in the 60s and 70s, and as a result downtown tends to shut down in the evenings and weekends. In the last 30 years or so the City has begun to redevelop the areas around the downtown to boost the population. Places like Eau Claire, East Village, Beltline, and in the near future Victoria Park (the entertainment district) are all being redeveloped in hopes of creating a vibrant downtown.

      @Jasveer Singh Bal I'm sorry but you have to be corrected on this. You can have an active, outdoor lifestyle at any time of year in Canada. Calgary isn't particularly cold even at the coldest times of the year but I understand you may not be used to it. However, there are really only 4 months that may impede somebody's outdoor activities if they can't suffer the cold. Even then, it's not cold during all of those months (December, January, February and maybe March) You can't move to Canada and expect temperatures to be above freezing all year long. It's Canada.

    • @clrr8400
      @clrr8400 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Jasveer Singh Bal Calgary is one of the most sunniest cities in CANANDA. Something like 350 days of sunshine a year! Plus you can still go outside more and have beautiful climate all year round. It does snow as much as Montreal or Winnipeg. I lived in both cities. It's a dry cold and dey heat. Very mellow weather with no extreme. Maybe 2 weeks in summer or a month of very cold in the winter. Not compared with the rest of Canada.

In fact Ottawa has more historical buildings than Calgary, because you will only find dose buildings in Stephen Avenue, and the rest of the city was made out of glass. • @aruharu245
      @aruharu245 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The Calgary Stampede was nice too, I was sort of expecting more but it still turned out to be a great experience. I actually ended up working at the Stampede during my trip to make some extra money, it sure helped out a lot.
    The downtown TD Square is really nice too, it far outweighs cheap Portage Place here in Winnipeg with its design and available stores to shop at. I loved the garden areas up on the top of TD Square. Great place to chillax, read, and drink coffee.

    Are all the streets you've filmed at a non-smoking area? I don't see anyone smoking.

    • @ColoradoRMN
      @ColoradoRMN  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did find a statistic that "As of 2015, 13.0% of Canadians aged 15 and older smoke" so that may explain it.

    • @moefugger
      @moefugger 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You aren't allowed to smoke in restaurants and outdoor patio areas , other than that you can smoke in public places. The amount of smokers is definitely going down here tho.

    • @TheSteveRobinson
      @TheSteveRobinson 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are executed for smoking in Calgary. A loose cigarette butt tossed into the street will result in a $150 fine.
