Hi Chuck 👋🏻 I had no idea that I can propagate my Echeveria from the flower stalk. I’m going to give that a try. I’m in Southern California and I have a Laura Eubanks inspired garden. Bumpy Echeveria are my favorite!!! Looking forward to seeing your garden growing over your winter.
Hey Natalie! I'm still here, but the videos are infrequent. Busy both with real life, plus it's winter here. It's a bit hard dragging myself out into the cold and we've been getting lots of rain the past few weeks!
Hi Chuck, love your vids, so educational and your plants are award winners indeed. I prepare for winter by bringing in all of my succulents and putting them under grow lights. I have 2' Durolux 8 bulb led grow lights and an HDX stainless stand. They produce about 10,000 lumens. My plants seem happy enough as their grow slows to the point that they do not elongate.
For me in the Puerto Rican tropics since I got them all in pots, all I do is move them to an area protected from the rain where direct sunlight hits. We’re currently in the summer heat for me summer is kinda a challenge to keep them from burning because they’re adjusted already but the heat tends to rise unexpectedly

I'd love to hear about your techniques.
I wish I could have them outdoors all year but winters are cold and have lots of freezing nights so I have to bring them indoors. Do you get freezing nights in winter in your area?
Hey Chuck I live in Qld and I Powerfeed everyone at the start of Autumn as part of my pre winter. I’ve already chopped most of my flower stalks off next I’ve still got to go thru and behead all my big frills but we’ve had so much rain this wk I’m waiting for some clear days before I do. One thing over the last couple of years Ive learnt to do is a fungal spray at the start of Autumn and every couple of wks over winter, I like Trifend but each to their own. Instead of waiting for an outbreak I use it as a preventive this time of year white mould is at its worst here for me! You did a video years ago on different disease and pest and how to treat them it was the best so informative!
I enjoy your videos I have actually learnt a lot from you a lot of great information and I am in the states if not I would love to see what you have for sale
i am in central coast nsw, and we have had way too much rain, and now it is getting cool, so i just hope my inground succulents survive. i have lost quite a lot of the potted ones, and the remainder are now under cover. totally unusual summer, hardly any sunshine days this year. it's good to see you putting out videos again.
hi mate. im really new to succulants. i have a problem with Aenium xL. the leaves are going brown from the bottom up. i see new roots shooting from the trunk. its tropical summer here in Sri Lanka. pls advise.
I usually just remove flower stalks before they bloom especially during summer. I don't bother applying pesticides anymore. Mainly because I am being a cheapskate, but also because I don't want to accidentally kill pollinators like bees.
@@Cerriscapades There are systemic pesticides that only target sucking insects like mealybugs and aphids which are bee friendly, at least I find them in Germany. Though you have your plants outdoors so there will be predators like lady bugs that will take care of the plants.
@@Cerriscapades Based on my search the active ingredient is Acetamiprid. It is a German company (Celaflor) that is a daughter company from The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company so maybe they sell something similar in Australia.
Hi Frank, the short version is that I've just been very busy. No time to film. Lots of reasons but the main one is that we are currently extending and renovating the house so I am leaving any garden design work until after that is done. 😅

It very rarely goes below freezing temperature in my suburb so no snow, but we do get frost.

Hi Chuck, at around the 5:42 mark, what type of crassula? is that on the left? It's very yellow, I like it! Cheers, Nina
Hi Nina! It's a variegated Crassula ovata 'Gollum'. I have closer shots of it in episode 177 or 178 I think when I planted it in.
@@Cerriscapades thanks, I'll take a look.
