Life changing event for my drumming life 10 years ago. I use open close everyday as it’s a natural motion now. If your looking precision, this is your prescription. Shout out to Gordy from Atlanta Georgia.
That opening passage is really a thing of beauty, just gorgeous playing!
This is too amazing. He makes it look so easy!
Best explaining of strokes ever I found in youtube - you are an outstanding, excellent teacher Mr. Knudtson - thank you very much - keep on your teaching!!!
you know when the video is god tier when it starts with a banger drum solo
Thank you for your incredible contribution to the drumming world!Gordy you are magnificent!!!!
Ohh I’m so happy this is still here. 10 years later and I’m back!!
this is something that all metal drummers want to learn for their blast beats.
On it.
Absolutely! This and finger singles, sort of the heel-toe & ankle motion of the upper limbs. Get those all clean, fast and synched... Baby, you got a stew goin'!
Thank you so much for this great video. I'm a percussion instructor and my students greatly benefit from this excellent video. Thanks to this video I have students as young as 8 years old who are now able to utilize the "open-close" technique. 👏👏👏
Seriously the BEST "hand technique" video on planet earth...VERY IMPRESSIVE. Im gonna go try this right now, and its 4am in the morning...
The perfect technique for blast beats 🔥
True focus and precision - this is basically what I’d like my drum ability to be. I’m going to try your excersizes, i also greatly appreciate your style, discussion and explanation of the playing - it feels like anyone can get to this level who wishes to. The gear tips was also greatly appreciated as I’ve heard suggestions of wearing weights when doing the methods.
Absolutely incredible drummer!!
Gordy Knudtson... what a drummer...
This is so cool! Wish I had someone taught me this when younger.
I've been playing for over 40 years. It's going to be difficult to break away from my old drumming habits! 😫🙂
This guy is so good he creeps me out. Dig that stare, the monotone voice and the black motif.
Excellent & Great....!!!! Many many thanks for share it....! You make an excellent instructor...!! Greetings from Argentina

Damn that snare is amazing!
This is crazy
I don’t understand how to get the stick to rebound so high that the stick is still pointing up when my wrist bends down
This is so difficult to learn...
Any luck?
Relatable
Don't I know it can't figure it out
It's tough work, but I love every little bit of progress I make.
study his wrist movement guys.
Hey Gordy, I don't think I wanna do it so fast or you know, great stuff with your wrist technique.
Excelente, para llegar al push and pull
That´s beautiful
Brutal
Oh. My. God.
Okay so I am trying this method however the only way I can get a bounce is with closing my hand..I'm trying my fingers but my hand closes every time. so then what do I do?
Спасибо!
so how do you get the sound from closing the hand? cause to me closing the hand looks the same as giving it the tap between the open and close. ive been doing double strokes as open tap essentially.
Is this the "catching the bounce technique"?
So can you play this method on your toms good or would it sound weak?

Ending is hilarious !!! By the way, I find it hard upon going faster and faster to make the wrist movement stay in sync : close then open again ( in the 3 and 4 modes ). Is there a trick there or should I just keep on practising hoping it'll gradually improve ? Thanks Gordy for your tips and method.
practice it to a metronome. I hope my 2 years late comment helped
What practice pad are you using?
Thanks
Gordy ,the sticks keep on falling from my hands and also they strike each other any tips on how to prevent it
Suck it up buttercup. Jk
Argentine very good tank you
When was this made? 2012?
Oh...
Wooooooo tx
what a tasty snare
I can do this stuff but however when I want to get it to Speed The Clarity just goes away what do I have to do keep practicing with a metronome slowly go up the speed and back down
A CLOCKWORK DRUMMER..............TRY ME...THE BEST DRUMMER YOU NEVER HEARD
You could easily expand your method and release more materiel on it. What do you know of Biomechanics? Certain types of martial arts use it. You definitely do. “The Biomechanics of Drumming.” I don’t know. I’m just an owl. I only know about the biomechanics of flight
breaking the wrist is the secret, ain't it Gordy? Nice video
George Lawrence cbn
luk at de flic o dat rist
Open hands
Fletcher is that you?
Three note stroke continues mode.....Moeller stroke.
Circumcisions anyone? Nip the tip, just like a drum stick, it’s real quick, take 5 min max
this is so hard to get to speed. guess i need to give it more time than 2 weeks! hah..
What the fuck🥶 what's name the technique? Please
That moment when you literally can't read the title of the video. Unlucky M8.
👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤣🤣🤣
Don’t blow your heads off, kids 😂
How do you not have Popeye forearms?
Not for beginners 😂😂
