    3:37 That's another thing. This is something that almost all of Dhar Mann's videos about disabled people does: put the disabled characters on a pedestal. It apparently wasn't enough for Nico to be a human being who deserves basic respect like everyone else; he has to be a genius who's smarter than those WITHOUT disabilities. As an autistic person who ISN'T a supercomputer-level genius, that kind of messaging always rubs me the wrong way.

    • @LadyTsuki
      @LadyTsuki 2 ปีที่แล้ว +97

      I know how you feel. I'm disabled, and, while I am reasonably intelligent, being put on any kind of pedestal bothers me. Not only are the disabled people in these types of videos super smart, but they're always great people? Yeah, disabled people are like any group. Some of us are cool, some of us are total jerks. We don't get great personalities due to our struggles. In fact, many people get very bitter and cold from their disability.

      That’s really most of Dhar Mann videos: don’t treat people with respect just because they’re human, but because they will probably defeat or humiliate you in the future.
      And absolutely agree with your point. I’m also autistic and I believe all of Dhar Mann’s autism videos (four videos, I think?) all eventually depict the autistic person as an absolute genius who puts those who mistreated them to shame. I've never encountered a deaf person in my life, but I can say that finding it hard to communicate with people is a hard task. You CAN lose your cool easily when unsure how to comprehend the situation. It's a normal human reaction. We just need to learn how to respect them and communicate with them despite their disabilities.
    HERE, respect is the exact thing they're NOT encouraging by this whole scheme! It's not helping! It's just bullying back!
    That bully didn't understand how deaf people worked, and needed to be taught how they functioned, NOT "Oh they're so much smarter than you". Walking in their shoes is not the answer, because some people are incapable of that. If you're poor, you can't walk in a rich person's shoes. If you're deaf, you can't walk in the shoes of someone who can hear.
    HOW does an entire school pretending to be deaf make the bully learn?! If anything, that's just solidifying WHY he finds deaf people annoying! Doing the OPPOSITE of learning to respect deaf people!
    Dhar Mann spreads such INSULTING misinformation that I get anxiety attacks every time I watch his videos. I have anxiety problems, so these vids only make me feel dumber and tell me I'm a bad person. As time goes on, I severely question the people who unironically think these are good messages. I get BASHED EVERY TIME I make a comment about my problems with Dhar Mann, expressing my distain for the bad messages he spreads, and I'M treated like the bad person.
    That's the Dhar Mann fam for ya. That goes to show that he's not teaching anyone anything. It's only worsening people's behavior, if anything.
    I would NOT be surprised, if a ton of people reply to this very comment and bash me on how I'm wrong, and a bad person for criticizing.

      What's funny is that, this can actually be a good topic to talk about in his channel but apparently Dhar doesn't want to make a video about that for some reason

    It’s just so unrealistic.
    People don’t just change their minds like that, if anything, a person in the bully’s shoes might hunker down on his ideas about people who are different, especially since it may make him feel like his viewpoint isn’t being acknowledged fairly. And yes, it’s not a “good” viewpoint and viewpoints can and should change, but dismissing them or putting together a big shenanigan like the school’s is not ideal to change it. That is my personal viewpoint.
    It’s also odd how, and I feel like I’ve noticed this in other Dhar videos, the antagonists frustration magically culminates into understanding and positive feelings, instead of anger and/or resentment. These emotions shouldn’t be overlooked, as they are completely natural and necessary, just like sadness.

    I mean I dropped out of school twice (once in middle school to become home schooled and once in high school, permanently leaving formal education) because the bullying was so intense and teachers ignored it and the principal defended the bullies. I wouldn't wish that kind of experience on anyone, but people who didn't have to suffer that need to understand that their better experience doesn't mean it never gets that bad.

    Thing that gets me the most is the fact that the deaf kid didn't say anything about being deaf. They said he was deaf, not that he is mute. There is a chance he couldn't speak, but there is a greater chance of him just being able to say, "Sorry, I can't hear you. I'm deaf."

    He has to live as a deaf person for a few days, and gains a deeper understanding of what it’s like.
