Outrageous~ adjective. of the nature of or involving gross injury or wrong: an outrageous slander. grossly offensive to the sense of right or decency: outrageous behavior; an outrageous remark. passing reasonable bounds; intolerable or shocking: an outrageous price. violent in action or temper. How can singing of LORD God's perfect Love correlate with the word outrageous for His Grace? I can't see that as being blessed by Something as magnificent as our LORD God's Grace. Our LORD God Almighty's Grace came long before Jesus was crucified. It wasn't the act of nailing Christ to the cross that we should worship. I find it backwards that we sing about it like this. To combine something from Perfect Love (Grace) with something that means something totally opposite. What they did was outrageous but Our LORD God's Grace is nothing to do with the henius act upon His son. Not one single time in His word does the word Grace rest with the word outrageous. Can anyone not see that?
I agree with you. Its singing songs like this one that finally put me off further involvement with the charismatics. These people know nothing except their theological gibberish and strumming guitars. The pandemic stopped them in their tracks But the message coupling grace and outrageous is watery soup...I would ban these songs but no one will.
Outrageous in the sense of 'shocking'. Everything about Jesus disturbed people's sensibilities. He was not only gentle Jesus meek and mild. He overturned the stalls of the moneychangers, he offended 'decent' behaviour, dined with sinners and on and on ... Everything is held together by Him. He is our Saviour, our friend and our judge. I think that it is a magnificent song.
It’s a word that has a negative, as you’ve expressed but also a POSITIVE ie Going way beyond what we expected. Or someone who deserved punishment and someone saying, it’s OUTRAGEOUS that they were forgiven and go free. Grace always winds up religious people that want people punished. Love wins! ❤
This song is outrageous and bad. A string of cliches and stating opposites and the obvious. If this is the depth of charismatic experience than it's no more than a puddle evaporating as these words are sung. How can one have confidence in such poorly expressed ranting.?
None as yet but people expect me to sing these awful things as praise and I no longer stand them.or the people who wrote them.Do yoh know where Matt Redman came from and.how he made money.. Theres something weird rather than awesome about Michael. W Smith while Hillsong and Bethel.stay despite dubious background
LOVE THIS GUY
This is so inspiring, and encouraging, for all of us who are called to step out of our comfort zones and trust, totally trust, in our Redeemer.
Great song!
Thank You!
