Hey Thanks for the video, I sort of remember that to get the scenarios/routes to play with each other you have to bring them up in RWTools and make them "shareable" is that a thing, and how would you do that please?
I’m trying to swap items. I haven’t a clue where to find all available assets rolling stock, I’d like to use. The scenario also has missing items anyway. Could the new item be put into the scenario?
This involves research on your part. If you plan to swap certain stock, you should figure out where that stock is installed before ever going into Ts-Tools and then have that location in mind when swapping. My first swaps are involving Sherman Hill's trains, replacing some basic models on Cajon Pass for instance. I plan to download an RWA skin using a CN F7 based on Feather River Canyon (a Zebra skin, according to the file name at RWA) and stick it onto a route somewhere, as well. You can also take the time to run your own database by scanning all folders in Ts-Tools and putting the chart on Google Sheets for easy reference (as it's tied to your Google account). I'm starting to catalogue the RWA engine repaints section this way so I can easily find repaints and know which DLCs I absolutely need to get for more variety (I could theoretically catalogue DPS as well). The same idea would work with this game. Check each of your packs in turn and put an entry for every item that comes up including at least the item's name (in Ts-Tools), the type (Freight, Diesel, DMU, etc.), the name of the DLC (if you know), and the source folder (which is what you clicked on to search it). For third-party DLC and skins, you may want to add the retailer or freeware location (so for AP you might link to the 170/171 pack URL, for example). This way you can also answer questions anyone might ask you personally about where to find specific skins, whether on Steam or third-party. This can be a very exhaustive process - I mean, I have a LOT - but I might do this to make my life a lot easier over time after I run through RWA. If you add another column for requirements (i.e. you might need a certain pack to use items from another), it also gives you your own DLC install map so you know exactly what to install for something to work. If you have any further questions, please go ahead and ask. =)
@@davidreid7552 Sorry. I think I forgot a major detail to answer your question. Ts-Tools does send you directly to the Railworks folder anyway, but you want to know where that is? Navigate to Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets (there is also a Content folder instead of Assets for scenarios and routes). Inside the Assets folder, you will find every installed DLC locomotive archive folder, most with AP files inside since that is how they are packed. Ts-Tools can unpack these, but you should not need to do this to swap stock unless I'm mistaken. Is that what you were looking for? (NOTE: Your Program Files name may differ from mine depending on Windows. My example is Windows 10 64-bit. So here's an example. If you have, say, Southampton to Bournemouth from the 2020 set (also available on its own), you would find Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\SouthamptonBournemouth and that's where any trains included with that route are found. You can then navigate there in Ts-Tools and find the Class 444, Class 450, and Class 47 under Diesel, the Class A2 under Steam, and various items under Freight and Passenger by searching within the SouthamptonBournemouth folder. Everything is pulled from SouthamptonBournemouthAssets.ap which is in that folder, though again, it can be fully unpacked by Ts-Tools if you wanted to search that way. Doe this help?
@@CycloneGU Thank you. I am using windows 10 64 bit. I shall have a look after work. What I’m wanting to do, is that I have found a scenario. I don’t have the loco installed to run this. It’s a steam one, which I don’t enjoy driving. I prefer British locomotive. I’d like to drive the scenario with a different locomotive. As I say I’m a novice. I’m planning on building my own route sim. But I’m impatient, and trying to get started. Thanks in advance.
@@davidreid7552 I believe you can swap a Steam for a Diesel. What can be dicey is changing to Electric as some routes do not support Electric locos. What Diesel do you have in mind?
Lewis Walton apologies for that,it’s available here for now at least, the original website is offline: www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=21454
To further my appologies the link is also updated within the description now. These videos have been transfered from my personal TH-cam. All should be well now amd thank you for bringing thisnto our attention. ^Tom
We have now also found a non UKTS link, which is here: www.agenetools.com/downloads.html?fbclid=IwAR3-nhYjmKhoJUniu0LZmuQNwvMDFj_oGbFO_PC8J1hKMiNCeidjluVYZPM
Excellent. This helped me run a scenario after I was able to switch assets to those in my library.

Great tutorial. Think I got it sussed now. One question I have is how do you change a loco to a specific number if possible.
When you swap a player loco or train and re-load train sim, after saving it breaks the scenario?
News to me mate, Though i tend to run a scenario in one hit rather than saving part way to revisit.

@@CycloneGU I 'm sorry to say this, but as a novice here. i don't understand any of your answer. I am confused to say the least.
