  • Throughout corn harvest, much attention is paid to test weight as the crop works through the combine, into the bin, and off to market.
In this episode of The Sharp Edge, Greg Stewart and Peter Johnson discuss why growers would be better rewarded if they focused on their corn crop's kernel weight rather than the test weight.

Sell by weight not volume. And that's what matters.

Hopefully this helps those farmers on the agtalk forums figure out the difference between kernels per bushel and test weight. Mass, weight, volume and density are different things.

Normally you guys do a great job but there is way to much yelling and misinformation in this video.

This is just another take on the race horse vs work horse varieties. 2021 race horse wins with those high volume low density kernels. 2019 that race horse hybrid bankrupts you.

All I know is my truck makes funny noises when I hauled 61lb test...and it was super small kernels.
