  • Today I decided to go to Monkey Canyon and Mill Creek Falls. I first defended to Big Tujunga Creek and then hiked down to the Monkey Canyon waterfall. Give that I didn't know the water level and I was on my own, I decided not to take the slide and go to the lower pool on the ladder. It was nice, but not as deep as I think it's been in the past given all of the sediment. I then went up to Mill Creek Falls, which was really nice too. That waterfall has a big pool too.

      I'm happy I finally got to it! Mill creek was nice too! It's a little over grown coming up form the canyon, but can also be accessed from Hidden Springs Picnic Area, although you have to know where to climb down.

      I've really appreciated all of the water we've had in LA these last two years! Nothing compared to some of the spots you've been at recently

    I was there the other day that waterslide is epic!! Only thing is the ladder on the way back up is a little risky as it's not totally secured. so just be extra careful navigating back up and make sure it's fully functional before heading down 👍😀

      Nice! yeah, the part with the chain lower down feels sketchy, I saw an old video of the canyon where it looks like there were some sand bags that people put in to dam off the water making the pool deeper and the ladder more accessible, I'm surprised it's been up as long as it has

    Very cool !!! Seeking out places to bring my dogs.... That's not it (can't climb down with 4 dogs!) but great video all the same. I'll keep watching your other adventures! So neat to know all these little hidden places.... People who spray paint suck.

      Awesome! Hopefully you find something nice! There are some nice waterholes on the East Fork and West Fork of the San Gabriel River, Cattle Canyon, Big Tujunga Near Wildwood, Bear Creek, Piru Creek...

    The tagged Monkey Falls area looked like urban waste, but the upper Mill Creek looked great.

      I love Mill Creek Falls. It can also be accessed from the Hidden Springs Picnic Area, but you have to climb down. If I remember correctly the canyon near the Picnic Area was pretty tagged up too unfortunately.

      @nature_exploring also bro how far is it from the parking lot?

    • @nature_exploring
      @nature_exploring  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@nerihugo5 It's maybe half a mile if you go from the hidden springs parking area, but you need to find the way I point to to climb down, which isn't obvious unless you know to look for it. It's about a mile from the monkey canyon if you start there and is probably more overgrown that way, but it doesn't require climbing down anything steep.
