With her incomparable timbre, powerful timing and exceptional talent for improvisation, Fay Claassen has long been considered one of the top European jazz vocalists.
Dress rehearsal of the WDR Big Band in WDR Studio 4 for the concert "Dutch Songbook" (2016) with the Dutch jazz vocalist Fay Claassen under the musical direction of Torsten Maaß: "Keep me in Your Dreams" (composer: Cor Bakker; arranger: Torsten Maaß). Other guest soloists are Cor Bakker (piano), Peter Tiehuis (guitar) and Theo de Jong (bass). Solos are played by Cor Bakker on piano and Andy Haderer on trumpet.

Thank you for your acknowledgement, it’s nice to know that the opinions of people such as myself are valued and appreciated. For me personally it would be hard not to like the WDR Big Band..it's like discovering treasure. As an amateur Trumpet and Flugel Horn player who was brought up in the 60s and 70s listening to jazz and big bands, I love the big band sound, especially the brass section. Andy Haderer’s Flugel Horn sole on Keep Me in Your Dreams, is really nice.
I hadn’t heard Faye Claassen sing Aan De Amsterdamse Grachtens. As with Keep Me in Your Dreams, Faye sings beautifully. Once we are clear of Covid, I will definitely come and see WDR, this is on my things to do list. Kindest regards, Doug.
