World PvP ! Classic VS Retail - WoW Machinima

- The Classic part is phase 2 in a nutshell now really.
I remember in the first few months of BfA I was really excited to do World PvP! Why wouldn't I be? The whole expansion was based on the idea of horde fighting alliance and vice versa. So there I was, with my human paladin running towards a horde invasion in Tiragarde Sound, all lubed up and ready to battle. First thing that struck me was, that there were very few people in this zone but eventually I found Hordes doing their world quests in that area! I saw that there were also some Alliance nearby, so putting faith into them that they would come to aid me, I jumped on the horde and started attacking like a wild beast! A few seconds into me hitting 1 of the Horde and barely dealing any damage, I realise i'm the only one trying to pvp in an area with around 15 people. Like some weird kid who wasn't invited to a party but went anyways, I was totally ignored and surprised. So I stopped and ran away, ashamed, crying. Turns out, everyone just wants to do their dumb world quests, and only pvp if a quests requires them to. So many times have I just crossed paths with a Horde and we would just walk right past each other like we are friendly. I mean, that's fine usually don't get me wrong! But I don't feel the sense of threat anymore, as I did in STV in earlier expansions. It's complete chaos there and I can't wait to dive in it once Classic launches.

He's the sneakiest one of them all: he keeps his HP and mana at full, deflects aggro onto the other combatants, and is ready to grab the chest if the last two fighters die to each other's DOTs.

i remember man, cold days back in the summer of 2005. I was sent on expedition on the order of Thrall himself. Me and a crack squad of handpicked horde commando's headed up to the capes of stranglethorn vietnam, it was supposed to be just a recon mission to gurubashi when everything went south. They where waiting for us all along man, alliance players and horde deserters both swooped into us like raging madman, it was a slaughter. I remember screaming JOOOOOHNSSSOOOOOOOONNNN, JOOOOOOOHNNNSSSOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN, but Johnson was no more, Johnson was taken. I lost my leg that day to an iron grenade but my biggest regret is not getting my revenge on those deserters.

then phase back in with a full raid to gank solo players.
After that said player would go on forums to complain the other faction keeps making raids and running away from duels and have no honor.
I actually kind of like it when I come across opposite faction members in warmode in BfA and we just decide to co-exist peacefully... it warms my heart!
Literally the opposite of the name of the expansion. If I find someone who fights back I kill them then move on. If I find someone who wants to peaceful (turn off wm) ill spawn camp them until they log off.

Really miss the old WoW...so tilting but yet so satisfying to play...can't describe the difficulties and the pleasures that is to level up 1-60 on classic WoW
helps when you dont thousands of carrots to keep up with.
world pvp comes across as a waste of time retail because of the chores

I'm actually happy with the WPvP in BFA, but the horde are at a huge disadvantage when the alliance have the Against All Odds quest. It's literally genocide for like a week

Honestly, having played BFA, the world PvP was nuts. Whole groups of people ganking each other on the weekly regions and whole raids forming up to fight in Naj and Assault regions. And when you think there's no more to do in world pvp, the next patch comes with N'Zoth spicing things up with a new toy and title so you can slay your fellow faction members along with the opposing faction ones. I would argue that BFA open world pvp was wayyyy more intense than the Classic world pvp. I got plenty of decent world pvp in BFA along with the titles and junk that are obtainable from it also a lot of fun. The main difference between Classic WoW and BFA open world pvp was that in BFA at least the pvp happened between players close enough in ilvl, while in Classic it's just level 50+ players slaughtering leveling alts and noobs.

I don't think it will ever compare to STV in vanilla but iv'e played about 2 months of BFA before quitting and my best memories is the world pvp. in my server there were insane world raids clashing into eachother and farming the title.
Idk what crack you're on but my server WarMode was actually just gank camp city for World Quests but yeah outside of that everyone is just mad chill and just poke at each other

PvP in Retail: Arena, Rated Arena, Bgs, Rated Bgs, Highest rating on the server, epic rewards, bragging rights and titles.
PvP in Classic: "So, uhm... wonna go gank some low levels?"
-"Sure! Do we get anything out of it?"
"Nah... just you know, bully people that can't fight back".
-"Oh okay. So we're just being assholes for the sake of it?".
"Yeah, pretty much, yeah..."
... And so the 2 gankers set off to a low level area to gank some scrubby low levels, in order to ***bully*** them into oblivion. A helpless night elf dies 3, even 4 times by their hands, and as he witnesses them continuing their onslaught by killing other of his low level companions, he is filled with pure rage.
Hastily he writes a message in the LookingForGroup channel to ask for assistance. Soon enough he recognises one of the people that whisper him back, as a top lvl 60 duelist on the Alliance side, who offers to help.
The veteran rides to the low level area in his epic mount and destroys both of the gankers, to the surprise of the low level elf. After which, the noob is filled with satisfaction and admiration for his lvl 60 saviour.
Suddenly, the veteran is hit by a Frostbolt from afar. A level 60 undead mage, has joined the fight on the side of the 2 gankers! The alliance veteran manages to evade him, and avoid a 3v1, as he calls from assistance from his top tier PvP guild.
Soon enough, both sides continue calling more and more people to aid them in the fight against the opposite faction in the low level area. Ganking parties and raid groups are formed, and the whole zone is swallowed by all out PvP in the name of faction pride, and showing off your skills.
10 years later, the 2 gankers chat once more and one of them asks the other:
- Hey, remember that time we went to gank some lowbies and ended up causing a whole faction war that lasted for a day?
- Haha, that was fucking insane dude
- Good times.
This is fucking gold.

Now i understand why some people like Classic/Vanilla. They have a great imagination; where almost everyone see a slow af combat, unbalanced af classes and ganking, they see things like shown in the video... (and not to mention the absurd amount of time you need for irrelevant things). It must be fun for them!

I loved finding isolated low levels in pvp... Then not harming them at all. The only thing I'd do is dismount right near them and make sure I changed my pally's aura from devotion where they could see/hear, or stealth for a few seconds if I was on my rogue then come back out once they started running in circles. Once I followed a dude for like twenty minutes.
I would bail my buddies out if they were about to get mobbed to death tho. Only seemed fair. But only if they were about to die.
I heard you could actually fish up the Demon Obliterator 5,000,000 in STV.
Forgot to add the assassin trap groups that puts a bounty on someone. To lure suckers in to kill them. Or the call to arms where they camp a quest area in the assult zones.
