    Really enjoyed this Ricky. I have never really connected with Sports Bikes for the road (once had a Suzuki GSXR750R). The BMWM1000R is one of the top sports bikes to buy. Its acceleration 0-- 60 is 3.0 s (German TH-cam video by a pro), but my R1250R does 3.2 s (barely any difference). It seems to me that the place to get the most out of a sports bike is the track, where a boxer no doubt would struggle to keep up at speeds over 100 mph. However, if one wants comfort, and just to ride on the public road, it is better, in my opinion, to get a good roadster. However, one cannot argue that the M1000R will turn heads, and does have image. But in the end, of course, everyone to their own.

      The r1250r is phenomenal bike. That boxer engine gives it the beans down low where it matters.

      @@RadDadisRad I have been riding one for 4 years now and can only agree, The best bike I have ridden. Trouble is, I cannot think of anything better, regarding my taste in bikes, with perhaps a Triumph Street Triple.

      @@malcolmabram2957 lol, that’s why I bought a 2024 street triple RS. Narrow in rear sets. Comfy seat. Has all gadgets and gizmos needed for commuting. Ridiculously lightweight. Super flickable and enough power to get in trouble but not so much power that it tries to buck you.

    You can only have 4 race modes active at a time. Switching off rain mode allows you to activate race pro modes which you can configure and use DTC toggles.
    I just picked this bike up last week, and it is amazing so far. But the vibrations are a worry for sure. I also switched out the seat with a wunderlich and got the ilmberger carbon belly pan.

    I’m sure you know this, but if you change suspension mode after riding mode, you can have it the way you want. For example, you can put ride mode in dynamic, then soften the shocks to road mode so you still have max throttle response, but softer ride over the bumpy stuff. Nice bike, and nice video, keep up the good work.

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Brian, but I do actually do what you suggested in the video! I go to Dynamic throttle and then put the Damping back to Road via the Assist menu. Thank you for your kind words 😊

    Get rid of the plastic wings unless you’re doing track days or riding flat out everywhere because they look like homemade add ones. Ditch the bar end mirrors for some Rizoma’s mounted off the levers allowing easier filtering reducing the width. The rest of the bike looks bloody awesome with the carbon fibre. Haven’t seen any duff reviews.

    • @AlexDahlZ
      @AlexDahlZ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah but also, if you are gonna go for a M1000R over lets say a new S1000R or something similar then you might drop 5k more and get it in black, decked out in carbon and with all the extra stuff.
      I know I would regret not getting the Comp version. When getting someting very spcecial I feel you should at times bite the bullet and get the top stuff if possible. Will take you a few more months to pay it down, but at least you won't feel like you compromised.
      Those are obviosuly my thoughts on it, everyone is different and for some the base M1000R is just right. =)

      On this bike, you would have to put the bike in the Race riding mode, then you are able to make fine adjustments to the front and rear suspension

    I’m 800+ miles into this bike and I absolutely love it! It blows me away every time I ride it. I replaced the mirrors which helped a lot with the bar vibration. I also had bar risers installed for comfort. I’ve got the race pro 1 set up and WOW, the throttle response is stunning.

    • @AlexDahlZ
      @AlexDahlZ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Have to disagree here: A motorcycle is somethig you should want to ride and have a blast on it, going fast and riding a bike on the limit is not really the goal of 98% of motorcycle riders, it's more of a bi-product of owning a rarer bike. The way this bike handles, looks and how you feel on it makes it very special. It also brings a lot of smiles to the people who see it, have had people approach me just to see it up close and and ask about what the heck it even is.

    • @tracer1127
      @tracer1127 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AlexDahlZI agree entirely with what you say. Owning a bike is as much about the excitement you get from owning it and opening the garage door with a smile on your face. So what if it had 300bhp it doesn’t mean you have to ride like a lunatic. Blimey if we based everything on that logic there would be no point in any bike over a 125cc for the Uk. Let’s face it on a naked bike you are way more restrained because of the wind blast making you more aware of speed than on a sports bike.

    This was a good review of what appears to be a fun bike.
    Can I ask if the vibrations calm down after around 6000rpm? My Busa's engine also tends to vibrate a bit around 5000rpm but calms down around 500revs after that point.

  • @tonydavis5053
    @tonydavis5053 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would you buy the M over the S1000R?
    I waited for this bike and everyone is saying it’s to much for the road, I’m thinking the S1000R with a tune and pipe. What’s your opinion?

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tricky question Tony! If we look at the performance then its true that you don't need 200hp on the road, but I have to say that the midrange on the M-bike does feel pretty strong so you don't need to use all the revs to have a lot of fun... will the S1000R with a tune match the M1000's midrange? I'm not sure, so I think I'll have to cop out and suggest you test ride both work it out for yourself!
      I'd suggest that the M1000 would feel less compliant on the road... but be ridiculous fun on a track day if you can tame the beast! 😁😁Assuming money wasn't an issue, then out of the two I'd think I'd go for the M1000R in black. But if I could throw in a wildcard, I think that the S1000RR makes better use of the available power with it's sportier, "over the front" riding position and fairing...

      @@RikkyTangI put it like this “ You could deliver pizzas 🍕 on the S1000R it’s so easy to ride” but it’s also a bit soulless imo , BUT that’s because it’s just so good at everything. I’d still say the R1250R is better, the way it pulls is amazing 🤩 tbh I wouldn’t even bother with the M1000R , it’s a bit pointless!

    @kheimseter71 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How do you compare this bike and your R1250R on the road? I know it’s two totally different bikes, but I’m just wondering what your thoughts are 😊

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right they are very different bikes - the M1000R feels lighter, much stiffer, faster and more urgent feeling in the midrage. Plus I love the electronics suite...or I would have if I could have played with it all!!
      The R1250R feels much softer, slower to steer but more comfortable and with more low revs-response from the bigger engine. I'd still prefer the 1250 on the road but would love the 1000 on the track!

    • @kheimseter71
      @kheimseter71 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RikkyTang Thanks for your reply 👍 I have the R1250R as well but haven’t had the opportunity to test the M1000R. My use of a bike, cruising, road trips and some touring, implies that the R1250R is “perfect” for my needs 😊 However I am struggling finding a touring windshield that doesn’t make sound like a jet engine, on highways. Generally I end up touring without a shield or just a tiny one. Love your videos 👍 Drive safe! 🏍️

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kheimseter71 I know exactly what you are saying ☺ My head also gets turned by newer/faster/lighter bikes, but the 1250 is still a really impressive machine in it's own right and it has a combination of qualities that are hard to beat! And you'll also need to give up the maintenance-free shaft drive almost no matter which bike you go for, which is a big sticking point for me! I've given up on windshields for my 1250R - I think only a big Barn Door style unit will work effectively but I can't bear to put one on the bike!
      The upcoming 1300 GS has my attention, and perhaps in a year or so the new 1300 engine will trickle down to a refreshed 1300RS - now that could be interesting 😁
