I went to Thailand via Myanmar in 2019.i am from Assam.i took a bus from guwahati to imphal,manipur.then imphal to moreh the border town of india and Myanmar.then i did immigration at border and crossed border by foot and entered into tamo Myanmar.then i took a bus from tamo to Yangon.i stayed in Yangon 2 days then took a bus to mae sot border of Myanmar Thailand border took visa on arrival of Thailand and entered into Thailand
One side there was the vision of congress for the north eastern development as a threat to china and risk of war, so do less development there..., and other side the vison of Atal ji and Modi for the North eastern India as a gateway to South Asia.... You can see the difference...!🔥 Previously, the whole Northern region was neglected... But Modi not only developed the infrastructure in northeast but also made it a getaway of South Asia...!!!
True but years of isolation kind of made them hostile causing violence in manipur…. Real worry is if such kind of strategic projects are built throught it what is the guarantee of no sabotage ?

But having the problem in the region with some groups that does not mean that we should not a develope that area... In fact If the prosperity comes in the region there are high chances that the misguided people can come on the right track and disassociated themselves from violent activist groups...

In the year 2002 Bajpayee ji declared the NH from Gujarat to Silchar, Assam. But it's been 21 years still the road is incomplete. Silchar from guwahati isn't competed yet. It clearly indicates how Delhi ignores Northeastern states.
Why did you think like this. Yes i agreed your words before 10 years under Congress govt. But now i am not accepted your words because this project in Indian side 65 to 70 % towards northern states and Railway project also recently extended and atleast 65 to 70 % power and network issues resolved this 10 years.
If somehow we would be able to convince Bangladesh to allow us to connect IMT Expressway through their country that'll be also beneficial for the people of all 4 Nations as well as reduced the distance for MT

Our goal is not to connect only to Bangkok but connecting North-East India & developing them too along with Chicken neck , one of the most important part. Also If sea level rise , Bangladesh will be the first biggest country to go underwater after Maldives.
Just to take your attention..NH27 is the 2nd longest national highway in India ..Its last 100 km condition is bad as you can't think. Connecting Lumding to Silchar in Assam road is very bad. I have seen construction from the last 6 year. But no progress. Govt is making so much expressways this days but unable to complete NH27 .
In present india has best ever road and transport minister and external affairs minister . Government koi bhi ho nitin gadkari ji ko hi road and transport minister hona chahiye. Or S jayashankar ko External affairs 😊😊
Already there is 4 lane, 6 lane highways throughout assam which was upgraded from single lane, 2 lane highway since 2000...now they are building flyover & underpasses in these stretch... That's is difference
*India should involve Bangladesh in this project and make highways from Kolkata to Bangladesh to NE India to Burma and then onto Thailand!!* It will be faster, cheaper and will accelerate economies.

I was writing on this subject since many days as by road connection tell about infrastructure. Manipur also comes in this route. Glorify Manipur importance in this project.
Why stop at Bangkok ? After Bangkok, stretch it all the way upto Vietnam through Laos, Cambodia. Add a parallel Railway line too. And within India, connect Mizoram and Tripura to the last city in India.

This tunnel will serve mainly as national security in case of china cut or capture chicken neck corridor. And economic benefit is a plus. And it will be shorter and quickest

So goods from Thailand through Myanmar then enter tunnel enter Kashmir Kolkatta is not it more fast route??? And trade need fast routes, now if this is possible to do (because I think will be entering Bangladeshi waters) in the future can arrange train routes, imagine tourists and goods going easily in just few hours compare to roads where first we have to go from Kolkatta to eastern states then enter Myanmar. Sir the road which connect upper Assam to Barak valley of Assam is very undeveloped even large dig and corrupted pwd works.Even people of Barak valley during rainy season needed to go through meghalaya to reach capital Guwahati.Many govt formed and passed away but they never developed road which connects lumding Silchar road via halflong.Many protest were performed but never had reached the govt deaf ears. The Barak valley of Assam is physiographic area of Assam and needed for IMT project. The Barak valley connects manipur from Silchar which enter into Myanmar and from Myanmar to Thailand.

I frequently travel on this road from Shillong Meghalaya to Imphal Manipur. Many times i met Thai and Myanmar Officials on BMW Bikes and Huge Toyota Trucks in Manipur and Nagaland. I also travel to Imphal by Bike, once i asked some Thai and Myanmar Officials how much construction was done in their respective countries, Thailand portion is 90 percent done in some parts as big as 16 lanes same in Myanmar as big as 16 lanes whether Indian portion has not even started construction.
In Thailand, the construction is completed from the Myanmar border to the Lao border with Highway No. NH 12, a four-lane road, a distance of approximately 800 kilometers.
For people air connectivity ,for goods sea connectivity is best i think cost & time wise .Road is useful for neighboring countries, but problem of drugs is there in all 3, more so with roads.
If they manage a way through Bangladesh then traveling distance will be reduced and India's chicken neck problem can be solved as it will provide another way to access East India👍
china may just overtake the myanmar road part, once finished. ship anyways seems more convenient to connect kol-bank. this road is kinda too long and goes through multiple borders.

It's a very good project, Same way Semi high speed railway needs to be made between India & Vietnam. Problem in Myanmar needs to be addressed as well.

bangladesh is muddy and watery region making road and bridges would be much costlier than to drive from hilly region of india

Just to take your attention..NH27 is the 2nd longest national highway in India ..Its last 100 km condition is bad as you can't think. Connecting Lumding to Silchar in Assam road is very bad. I have seen construction from the last 6 year. But no progress. Govt is making so much expressways this days but unable to complete NH27 .

EAST West corridor project Mahasaddak connected West Bengal -Guwhati-Barak valley --Manipur .Upto Loas /Vietnam.
I was writing on this subject since many days as by road connection tell about infrastructure. Manipur also comes in this route. Glorify Manipur importance in this project.

Why stop at Bangkok ? After Bangkok, stretch it all the way upto Vietnam through Laos, Cambodia. Add a parallel Railway line too. And within India, connect Mizoram and Tripura to the last city in India.

This tunnel will serve mainly as national security in case of china cut or capture chicken neck corridor. And economic benefit is a plus. And it will be shorter and quickest

But tunnel from Kolkatta to Myanmar is a direct link. So goods from Thailand through Myanmar then enter tunnel enter Kashmir Kolkatta is not it more fast route??? And trade need fast routes, now if this is possible to do (because I think will be entering Bangladeshi waters) in the future can arrange train routes, imagine tourists and goods going easily in just few hours compare to roads where first we have to go from Kolkatta to eastern states then enter Myanmar.

Sir the road which connect upper Assam to Barak valley of Assam is very undeveloped even large dig and corrupted pwd works.Even people of Barak valley during rainy season needed to go through meghalaya to reach capital Guwahati.Many govt formed and passed away but they never developed road which connects lumding Silchar road via halflong.Many protest were performed but never had reached the govt deaf ears. The Barak valley of Assam is physiographic area of Assam and needed for IMT project. The Barak valley connects manipur from Silchar which enter into Myanmar and from Myanmar to Thailand.

I frequently travel on this road from Shillong Meghalaya to Imphal Manipur. Many times i met Thai and Myanmar Officials on BMW Bikes and Huge Toyota Trucks in Manipur and Nagaland. I also travel to Imphal by Bike, once i asked some Thai and Myanmar Officials how much construction was done in their respective countries, Thailand portion is 90 percent done in some parts as big as 16 lanes same in Myanmar as big as 16 lanes whether Indian portion has not even started construction.
In Thailand, the construction is completed from the Myanmar border to the Lao border with Highway No. NH 12, a four-lane road, a distance of approximately 800 kilometers.
