Shaykh al-Islam Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Haleem ibn Taymiyah is regarded as one of the prominent mujaddids (renewers and revivers) of Islam. He was born in 661 AH and died in 728 AH (may Allah have mercy on him). If the efforts of a mujaddid bear fruit in his own time and generation, the efforts of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah began to bear fruit in his own time and have continued to do so until the present, affecting scholars and seekers of knowledge and Islamic groups that belong to Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah. Scholars still refer to his books to refute the enemies of Islam among the Jews and Christians and sects that claim to belong to Islam such as the Raafidis, Huloolis and Jahamis, and innovated sects such as the Ash'aris and Murji'is.
His achievements in the fields of fiqh, hadeeth, tafseer and sulook (ways of drawing close to Allah) are too well known.
His books and writings bear witness to that and he does not need anyone like us to praise him, rather his knowledge and fiqh are extant and bear witness that no one can deny except one who is ignorant or stubborn.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER -
Abu usamah was born in New Jersey in 1964. He embraced Islam in 1986 and went onto studying in the Islamic University of Madina for eight years where he graduated from the College of Da'wah and Usool-ad-Din.
sheikh abu usamah has been very active in da'wah since the day he embraced Islam. He has been the Imam of various mosques in the United States and in the United Kingdom. His zeal and eagerness in conveying the true message of Islam has lead him to many parts of the world, delivering lectures and seminars, as well as translating for many scholars and du'aat from the Arab world.
Abu Usamah has been blessed in studying with some of the greatest scholars of our time, to name a few, Shaikh Umar Fulaatah at the Rawdah of the Prophets Mosque, Shaikh Muhammad 'Atiyyah Saalim (author of Tafsir 'Adwaa ul-Bayaan'), Shaikh Abdullah Muhammad al-Ghunaymaan, Shaikh Muhammad al-Jaami, Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan and many more. He was also very fortunate to have spent two summers in intensive study under Shaikh Ibn Baaz and Shaikh Ibn Uthaymin.

By Allah I'm so glad I came across this talk I am a newly practicing sister and heard so much confusion on this great man. In as little as a year I have heard seen and read people slander lie swear about him. jazakallah thank you lots for this. Allah give you everything you ask for Ameeen
@ummsalma sister I am a newly practicing revert and my friends told me to stay away from Ibn taymiyyah and muhammad ibn abdul wahabs books even though they do not practice the Deen they still had the nerve to make statements, give fatawas, curse scholars an speak about that which they did not know. Subhanallah how shaytan has deluded many Muslims is beyond me
I heard that Ibn Taymiah (ra) had the biggest Janazah prayer ever in this ummah.
Apparently they done his Janazah prayers from Morocco to China. Even people who didn't agree with his methodology or his rulings acknowledged his lifes works and attended his janazah prayer.
I met him 2-3 months ago in a PROFCON functn..He is a good friendly person..He reverted from Christianity to Islam..
may Allah grant sheikh ul islam the highest paradise for serving and defending islam rest of his life ..allahuakbar

Stick to the Quran and hadith sister, Ibn Tamiya and Abdul Wahab books are used for learning rule of law. You can read them but do not make the quran secondary to other scholars books.

What was different and amazing was that Ustadh Abu Usamah mentioned that we cannot go to extremes in our opinion towards Shaikhul Islam Al-Mujaddid Ahmad Ibn Taimiyyah rahimahullah. May Allah make him and those who defend the sunnah among the people of Jannatul Firdaws.

Asalamau alaykum, is this Ibn Taimiyyah the same one who spoke of Adam (as) done waseela through prophet muhammad by which Allah forgave him? I heard this was a fabricated hadith and Ibn Taymiyyah was a Fabricator/innovater?
123lesta I am not familiar of what you speak of. I just like to think good of my Muslim brothers. If he made a mistake then I ask Allah to forgive him. Make excuses for your Muslim brothers and sisters.

jazk for your help brother. Alhamdulellah I do follow the Qu'ran and hadeth . I wanted to see for myself if what my sufi friends said was true or not. I was amazed to know what knowledge these scholars left behind them it was thought these scholars that led me to following the Qu’ran/ sunnah according to the best generations of Islam

The Hanafis do not know, what their Imaam said,
Abu Haneefah (d. 150/767) rah mullah said: “It is not proper for anyone to say anything about ath-Thaat (the essence) of Allaah, but one must describe Him as He described Himself. He must not say of his own opinion anything about Him; Exalted, and Most High is the Rabb of Al-Aalameen.” (Sharh Al-Aqeedah Tahaawiyyah, 2:427, checked by Dr. Abdullah At-Turkee and Shu’ayeb Arna’ut Muassasatur-Risaalah 1416/1995)
He also said: “Allaah is not to be described by the qualities of creation; His Anger and pleasure are two of Allaah’s Attributes without Kayf. This represents the saying of Ahlus Sunnah wal jamaa’ah, He gets Angry and Becomes Pleased, and it is not befitting to say that His Anger means His punishment and that His pleasure is His Reward.” (See I’tiqaad Al-Aa’imah Al-Arba’a, p.9-10, Daar Al-Aasimah, Riyaadh, 1412/1992 and usool-ud-deen Inda Al-Imaam Abu Haneefah, p.311, Daar As-Sumayee’aee, Riyadh, 1416/1996, both by Dr. Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman Al-khumayyis.
Again, Imaam rah mullah is affirming the True and real meanings of the Attributes of Anger and Pleasure and negating the Tahreef distortion through metaphoric interpretation of the Sifaat which is wrongly called Ta’weel by Ahluh Kalama (people who follow scholastic theology) and those who are affected by this approach. The anger and pleasure of Allaah is not like what is attributed to the created as abu hateful rah mullah emphasized in the beginning of the above quoted statement. Had the Magnification of Allaah been linked to Ta’weel, abu Haneefa would have been the first to adopt it. Certainly Allaah gets Angry and becomes Pleased as He wishes and that does not necessitate that we liken Him to His creation when these attributes are affirmed)

Kalaam (words) or ‘Ilm-ul-Kalam (Islamic philosophy) is a discipline that searches for answers to creed issues using logic.
The majority of fuqaha’ (scholars) have stated that it is haraam (forbidden) to study philosophy.

just one thing which Shaikh could have cleared a in a better way is Ibn Taymiyyah on Mawjizaat because there shouldnt be even a lil room for Sufi Bidaah from the Ahlul Hadith .Shaikh should have explained that it is not something which was always like that ,there may have been some instances and Allah knows best
and yes definitely believing that someone may tel you something regarding future is Kufr which should be understood
