I like this video, it is exactly what I have figured out for my self over the last 4 months. The only thing I would add is, I sometimes start by doing the 20 day high scan for the entire stock market and look for which sectors most frequently pop up.

Great video. Most of the people I follow on Twitter, who are really good swing traders, really only post about tech stocks. I suppose it's mostly because of the high ATR, but lately that sector has taken a hit, and so I've been hearing people talk about being patient and "waiting for your market". Meanwhile, lumber is limiting up every day it seems like. I feel like the info you are sharing is what is lacking in most trader's strategies. Thanks so much for sharing your process with us!

This video is fantastic! I wonder, being that it may be a little dated, if it still is an efficient way of searching for the right stocks. I have a small account under $1,000.00...way under..., but still have eeked out a few bucks since starting a month ago. I'm going to go back to watch this a few more times, and start applying next week. Thank you Pete, wish me luck.
Oh btw, I'm 60, kind of a dummy, and a good listener. This will work well with your order volume video I just watched too.

Hi Pete, Today I Finally set aside time to watch this video multiple times to both review the notes I took when I watched the first time about a month ago and just go through each step so I can make this process quick and easy each day. I realized that I just need to do more of the right stuff and this step will keep me out of bad quick trigger trades. There comes a time in every trading journey when you just through up your hands in frustration from poor results over and over and one needs to do something different if you ever expect to see different results. Pretty much the same for anything in this life. Thank you so much for all the free content and you passion to help.

Lovely insight mate, different stock sectors are in a bubble. But the question is when, or if this bubble will pop. I'm curious for the safest means to make plus interest regardless of stock market trends?

Moving out of the stock market due to fears of a bubble burst could be a wrong move, Instead, look for pockets within sectors that can help you to balance both growth and value or sometimes it's even better you speak to someone more enlightened to understand options best meant for you, I did the same myself, it paid off.

Let me ask you a question please.
I went to "groups" and clicked on the one month relative performance section of the screen and then basic materials. After doing so I cliked on "performance" and I was expenting it to show me the monthly performance but intead it showed me price changes for the last day of trading.
That´s not what I need.......what I need last month (or wahtever I choose) behaviour for any sector I pick from the correspondig section I choose (one month relative performance in this example).
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks:
    Marcelo.

Excellent video in all respects. This approach is the way to pick the best of the best and be way ahead of the benchmarks. But defensive stop orders need to be used when the trend reverses to limit any price deterioration from a big move higher. Also, conservative investors can just stick with the 11 sectors and invest in the strongest one or two and still beat the averages, as th spread in before between the best and worst performimg sector over the course of a year is 25 perentage points or more.

What if I narrow down the sector/industry but then when i apply your template and 0 stocks show up? Could that mean that stocks in that area have a potentional to breakout but just havent yet? Would you recommend loosening the screener criteria to find ones that are close to showing up in your template screener?

    • @StockTradingPro
      @StockTradingPro  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hey Kevin. Great question & thanks for watching. Generally I would not tweak the screener. We always strive to allocate capital to the stocks that meet our best criteria.
If we tweak and move away from perfect we can still take the trade, but because the risk/reward is likely different, for me that simply means a little less capital on the initial entry with a plan to add if I get positive price action.
I'd be lying if I said I never tweak the scans. As you gain more experience you'll know when there's hidden opportunity.
Also, It's important to run scans from different angles. You'd be surprised how you might feel it's the same criteria, but swapping out a moving average for a percentage gain can give some nice alternative ideas.

awesome - that was a very good video. I wondered if you are ever concerned with overextension and exhausted moves? (im more of a daytrader - so mostly if something just put in a new high it needs a few resting days before i would comfortably like to trade it - so i dont run into any short term pullback that would mess with my tiny stoplosses[because of daytrade])..while you as a swing trader might be comfortable with a few % in wiggle room

good question and that's the difference between trading an investing. Investors build system to find undervalued stocks, so they want the current conditions to change.
Traders want what is happening to continue, not change. So traders build systems designed to get clarity on when it's obvious and when it changes. Good traders don't forecast or predict.

I would think if your pretty bullish on a sector or industry group you can just buy the etf or leveraged etf if you think it’s going to run for a while.

All of the scan results showed stocks that had already broke out. This method seems to be very hindsight.

It's a strategy to show you how to do sector rotation. It's not a video offering stock picks.

@@StockTradingPro No one is asking for stock picks. You offer a “how to” video on how to find potential plays using filters, yet every example you gave were plays that already happened.

Hey Chris R. Did you have a question?

@@StockTradingPro Hi, yes. Can you provide a video/example showing a few examples of this filter method producing potential chart setups prior to the move happening? I have applied these filters and it only seems to return tickers where the moev has already happened.

hey Chris, thanks so much for contributing to the TH-cam community. Yes. I actually do every day in my daily videos. The next step for you would be to learn how to time your entries into the trade setups.

Hello Pete, do you have children or grandchildren? I would like to challenge you to make a series of educational videos with this theme and others for example using indicators or explaining what are RSI or Stchocastic, or other simple indicators, from a swingtrader or even buy and hold perspective, but explained with simple language to your children or grandchildren "12 or 15 years old", you are an excellent communicator, with calm, with knowledge. think about it. will be a legacy for the next generation. So when I am watching this video November 11, 2023, it's absolutely clear that your strategy is total crap

Hi Dmitry - thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to watch the video and provide your feedback. Have to be honest - tough to comment on a strategy when this video is about scanning for ideas.
