Brilliant job Tommy I have watched your journey from start to finish I am very impressed on how informative your videos have been booking my CBT shortly getting back on two wheels after a forty year lay off
Recently discovered your channel Tommy because I’m taking my CBT next week and was looking for videos to prepare me. Been really nice binge watching your whole process from learning to ride to becoming confident riding solo. Keep up the good work the videos are great! P.S if you ever decide to make some form of merch I beg you make “Kill the indicator” t-shirts 😂
Alright Daniel, I'm glad you like my videos. Thanks for watching! Haha funny you should say that I was going to print some BOSH! t shirts for myself. Might crack on with that tomorrow 🤣
I'm looking to get chest, shoulder forearm elbow armour, groin armour, knee with shin armour, with armoured shorts underneath. All Ghost armour will be under the hard shell armour but all underneath a kevlar hoodie. So you have the soft ghost armour for comfort then breathable hard shell for added protection.
@@TwoWheelsTommy yea if heaven forbid you impact something your nuts is literally behind a aluminium or metal fuel tank. I need to get an airbag vest too. Also leg injuries r common, im researching some hard sheel femur options but needs to be flexible for comfort. Soft and hard armour is an underrated combination people skip out on.
Hey tommy just passed my theory start mod 1 training on Monday. Going to keep my 125 until I pass and get a bigger bike. Thinking a honda rebel 500 or a royal enfield shotgun 650 . Even though the weather's been rotten I've still managed to clock over a 3000 miles all over Scotland on my yamaha 125.
Nice work! You will enjoy MOD 1 training (Check out my other vids, if you've not already). The Shotgun looks great. That is some good going, you are more than ready to move on then, I'd say 💪 Go get it! 🚀
Thanks Tommy - I like the realness of your channel/videos. I’m about to start my motorbike journey so this was great, one thing that may have been useful would have been some idea around safety ratings and explaining how it feels to wear these clothes with armour when not riding bikes eg. Does it feel uncomfortable when down the pub? Thanks for sharing! Good work and keep it coming!
Hey Jez, I appreciate you saying so! I did consider going into all the safety ratings but it would have been a long video.. I have provided a link in the description for all products so a quick click would provide all of the info required. It would have been a good idea to mention wearing as casuals though as that is subjective. In case you were curious, none of them really feel like you are wearing armour. I honestly thought it would do my head in but all of the bits I'm using are super comfy. Hope that helps 😀
It's funny, I've literally lived the same bike life as you but a few weeks behind. Bought a cb125f passed theory, mod 1, mod 2 (both minors) and just sold the bike so bikeless with a full licence!
@afc85 It is lovely 😍 To be honest that is a great time to buy as you will have a whole summer ahead of you. Mine will be pampered so it won;t see any rain or suchlike so it may not get used much until next spring. Hoping for nice weather over the winter 😀
As a larger man myself I feel your pain, especially so with motcycle trousers. You should try the panda moto UH leggins, AAA rated but are super comfy and you can wear what you want over them. A little bit pricey but they were a game changer for me. Anyway, nice vid bud 👍🏻
I use Panther welding gloves for the bop-about.... and when they're dirty, I'll use them for weeding the garden. Gerbings heated gloves are a real pleasure too. I am adverse to metal snaps on jackets as they may scratch the tank. Hoodie on a motorcycle???... okayaaaay..... Otherwise, you got some good riding gear. Helmet-wise, I do like the chin protectors, not necessarily for the protection (yes protection is paramount!), but riding at speed in these cool/cold climates, the helmet (with guard) will keep your head warm(er). Open face/chin helmets are coooooold, especially when it rains. So, we're all looking forward to your new ride.... As As Frankenfuter sings it.... Antici............................................pation..... Safe trails.
Those welding gloves are pretty tough, I have a pair I actually do use for gardening 🤣I'm yet to try heated gloves but they will be of interest at some stage I'm sure. I have to say I always saw people riding bikes with hoodies and thought they were wallies but this one does actually have CE certified elbow and shoulder armour, I've also added the back armour too. I mean I wouldn't use it on a motorway, but it is fine for bumbling about over here. 👍
I have to say, I get most of the gear, and why there's multiple of similar things, I have 4 jackets... one is Yellow Hi-vis Full jacket, that I wear to ride to work, along with a Matte Black helmet because it scratches so easy It looks horrible, these both look horrible, so are the things allowed to get grubby. an Orange Hi-Vis jacket that I wear over an actual riding jacket sometimes. the proper armoured riding jacket. and a Leather Jacket... in urban areas, the black leather Jacket is the safest because people actually see it, and respond accordingly, they don't know if it's an average person, or one of the violent criminal gang members, so rather than take the risk, they will just give you more room when you wear a Black Leather Jacket! (and they ALWAYS see you... yet with Hi-Vis they still "Claim" they didn't see you!) the boots I use for the work commute, were $50 (lets say 20 pounds) they are not riding boots, but comparing them to $500 riding boots made of leather, there's no actual reason why there is a 1000% difference in price, they are exactly the same! they are still high ankle, and still padded but thin enough to get under and over the levers, and the sole is just as tough and well attached to the leather... all the things that make a good riding boot is in these cheap boots except the extra layer that contacts the gear lever, and that's just to give a wear point! However Adventure riding requires ADV or Motocross boots, Touring boots don't cut it, and Motocross boots are hard to ride on the road in... so there's a reason to "foot" the bill for ADV boots! they do it all!
Hey, sounds like you are not in the UK (USA?). That is mad, we don't really have that so much over here. Biker gang stuff is so rare here. It doesn't matter what you wear, they still will claim that they didn't see you. Interesting points about your boots, sometimes you just gotta use what suits you, right. Ride safe 🙂
@@TwoWheelsTommy New Zealand. My cheap boots are great for riding around town, with frequent gear changes etc... my other purpose made boots are quite stiff and hard to change gear in, but they do protect my lower leg
Buy once ,, good gear , I’ve been riding full licence 50 years , I’m 67 lady , I still ride a Triumph St twin 900 . I have shoi helmet with coms , I have Rukka suki jacket with suki trousers ,, plus the braises . Knee armour , hip armour , elbo, shoulder and back armour , full Rukka gloves . Also Daytona tall boots , 2 pairs ,,,, Daytona short boots , as well as tcx short boots , I think if you stick to bikeing you will get your self some proper gear ,,, I don’t think you are giving good advice to others looking to buy proactive gear ,, a proper off would leave you and others in shreds ,,, even at low speed ! As for hoody Best of luck. All the best though regards .Sue .ps I also have jeans with aramid lineing and hip n knee armour , ride for the slide !
Sounds like you have some nice gear there and have found what works for you through years of trial and error. I will have that luxury some day, but for now this works for me. For sure, full leathers would be the safest option but very rarely practical. I'm no speed demon, so the bits I have a fine for pootling around seaside towns and country lanes. All of my gear has proper motorcycle safety ratings and armour where it is needed, so still much better than the usual shorts and t-shirt brigade that love buzzing around. 10,000 of them this weekend on the island for the annual scooter rally (Lambretta/vespa etc). None of them are wearing any protective gear and it makes me cringe! Ride safe 😀
Hey, all good thanks. I made my own logo in Adobe Photoshop, and the Instagram animation I made in Adobe After Effects, I followed a tutorial to do that 👍
@PlagueGatesOfHell It took me about 3 hours to do it! I expect you will find someone online who knows what they are doing to make one for you for a few quid 👌
I love the fact that your a larger rider, gives us bigger lads the confidence to get out there and do what we love
For sure, big or small, tall or short. Just do your thing, you won't be the only one 💪

Cheers for the video - some nice ideas there, for eg the winter/dark months. Love the "Rock on Tommy" clip at 19:41 😆
Haha that actually did hurt 🤣
Can't wait to see what bike you get! Enjoy
I have clapped eyes on it in the flesh. It is a beauty. 2 weeks I reckon 😀

I love hoodies. Must get a motorcycle hoodie 😊
Game changer to be fair, so comfy. Just try to get one that has decent safety ratings 💪
