@@PocketfulofPrimary you are a wonderful light of sunshine, and I’m so thankful I happened across your channel! I’m about to ask a question that I hope makes sense. I’ve been watching your videos on digital lesson planning and… I am very interested in digital lesson planning because I am OCD. I want to make sure I can physically see everything that I am using and also make sure that I have masters when I need them….so I’m sure you can imagine what my file cabinets and physical binders always looked like. I am interested in combining the idea of the digital planner, with my lesson plans, and interactive digital notebook. At this time, I am just starting out. I’ve taught for 11 years, but I’ve been out of the classroom since Feb. 2020. I would be teaching middle school ELA, and I’m interested in putting together my curriculum before getting my job, so I can hit the school year running. Lesson planing always gobbles up my time. So my question is, if I’m starting out blank slate- with all of the things I want to use on my computer…would it make sense to start by uploading all of my docs to google drive, then begin with the digital planner and upload my docs accordingly as hyperlinks there? From there, work on a teacher’s edition of an interactive notebook, and use that to make a student edition at the end of all of that? Plan the skeleton on my classroom- so to speak- from the planner…. Or would it be better to use google slides to make a live bundle first, so I can flip through the pages of my binder and physically see the activities then choose them and hyperlink them where I want them to fit into my binder? I hope that makes sense…please help! I’m so overwhelmed, and I really believe that this could help me plan out my year and have access to all of my stuff in one place.
Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial Michelle!! I'm planning on using your name tags to create labels for my project drawers. I teach K-5 Art and I like to label the drawers with the teacher's name and color code it with an assigned grade level color. As I saw you go through the different options of supports to add it gave me the idea of adding visuals to represent our art standards for each grade level.Thank you so much!!! -Michelle K-5 Art Teacher in Illinois
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Michelle! 🖤 I think that's a great idea and I love that you were able to take this video and make it work for your needs! That's awesome and I hope you have a great year ahead!
Awesome tutorial and name tags! I am using these for my students this year, and I love how you can differentiate for all learners with the many options you provided and adapt as needed. Thank you, Michelle!
Thank you so, so much! I teach students with learning disabilities and these supports are perfect! I love how I can customize each name tag for each student’s needs! ❤️
Thank you Michelle. Didn't know about word art. I did the name tags, but I didn't add the color background because I used color cardstocks, then I laminated them. They look pretty and very legible to read by the student.
Thank you so much for watching Evelyn! 🥰 Also, YES! You can definitely leave them all black and white but print on colored paper or cardstock! It's a great way to save on color ink! 🎉
Based on what you showed us about making a product, this must have taken HOURS and HOURS. This is sooooo fabulous! Really appreciate you right now, lol (and always, of course).
You tutorial videos are amazing. I learned how to make Google slides from you. I just went to TPT to buy the name tags. Can’t wait to make them. Thanks for making them available so that I can save time while getting ready for back to school.
That's so great to hear Kathryn! I'm so happy my videos are helpful for you and I hope you love the name tags and they save you lots of time this back to school season! 🥰
Thank goodness for Michelle I have learned so many hacks and ways to use Google it's amazing. Love your videos, and thank you for giving us free (and far more useful) PD.
Great video! I really like that you included the word art and different chart to customize. I am always looking for name tags with Spanish days of the week, 3d shapes and 2D shapes.
I like a number line to 20 and the alphabet (capital and lowercase). I teach first grade. Thanks for the great tutorial. I love learning new tips and tricks in google.
What perfect timing! Excellent instructions, as per usual. You have taught this 30+ years experience teacher so much about technology! You asked if anything else could be added...a map of a 'choice' country would be nice. (Being from Canada, I would love to see a map with labelled provinces. And if I was really demanding, a French version :) Thanks you so much.
Great info! I definitely want to share this with teachers near me who start over the next two weeks! You definitely have more crisp equipment! You aren’t missing anything! What you include is perfect. I wouldn’t have even thought about a cursive chart because I don’t even know if they even teach the cursive handwriting the right way anymore! One of my teachers when I was in 2nd grade didn’t realize they had two Russells in class (both of us went by our first name and our last names started a couple letters apart). Most teachers started labeling us Russell good and Russell bad when we were older😆(I obviously was Russell good🤩)!
Thank you so much for this great product. Our third grade also adds the students log in for their computers since they have one to one devices on their name tag so they don't forget it or if a sub ever needs it.
Thank you for the word art tip!!! I have been trying to figure out how to do a text outline in google slides!! I also agree about most name tags because too overwhelming! I just made my own with a place for my students QR codes for technology!
Wonderful! I'm so happy it was helpful for you! 🎉 Yessss... adding QR codes in the square parts would be PERFECT! You could link to so many different websites or resources!
Loved the video tutorial!!! Since I have three blocks of 6th grade students they can’t have their name tag taped to their desk. However, they did a “name tent”. In the front they had their name and on each corner on the back things about themselves.
Thank you so much for watching Claudia! 🖤 I had a similar situation when I taught 4th grade because I had multiple blocks of students. A few things that helped were using clear pockets (you can usually find them at Target) so the students could slip their name tags in and out or using Velcro dots or magnets so they could remove their name tag easily when they left the room!
You are such a good teacher for me! (Over 50, I need same tutorial as if I am 5 years old😉! The age of my students…) And when I see all the options already made in tpt, Wow!…I buy them 😄!
Thank you for all your videos. Can you do a tutorial about how to use app script to edit multiple textboxes on google slides ? This would be very helpful thank you again ❤
This year I am keeping it very simple. We use CKLA and I matched the letters to the corresponding color that the letters are in the curriculum (consonants-red, vowels and vowel teams-green.) The only thing I have on their name tag is their first and last name.
Hey!! I love your channel and have been watching for a while, i was wondering if you could share your color codes that you use for every color, thanks!

Michelle, I really like these how-to videos. Because of you, I've started to create curriculum and decor myself (yay, me!). It's been going really well. Thank you! My one problem with Google is that you can't import custom fonts. Come on, Google! I have a font for teaching handwriting that I need to use, which forces me to create in Word, but then it's harder to add my clipart, plus it's not in my Drive so I can only edit on my school laptop. So frustrating!
Thank you so much for watching Bonnie! 🖤 I think that's wonderful! I agree... it can be frustrating that you can't import custom fonts in Google... but, I've learned to just accept it and use the standard fonts because Google has SO many other positives. You're right though... there are times when you need a specific font like for teaching handwriting and it can be a pain! Maybe someday they will allow you to add your own fonts... one can only hope, ha!

In case you didn't know, in order to make word art not look so stretched out or narrow, you can hold down the "shift" key when you are resizing it! 🎉
Yes! I did know that trick... but sometimes you want/need it a little stretched to better fill the space (if that makes sense).
