Unic0rnWarri0rs Actually todays most comming woodwind instruments are made from plastics and metal. (The term woodwind comes from the embrochure used to play the instrument, it is considered a woodwind if you do not "buzz" into a mouthpiece 😄)
Sounds great Trent, glad you like it. I want one.... oh wait :D I have just been moved off Eb and onto BBb and this mp isn't suitable for BBb so will have to make a BBb version of it.
I’m a woodworker and a tuba player…and I’m old enough to be absolutely flummoxed that this never occurred to me. I will be at my lathe tomorrow! Bamboo is so light, I wonder if a wood that is more dense like rosewood or ebony would make a difference. Thank you!
You actually play that instrument very well. For some reason, I expected you to have a bit more difficulty playing something like an E♭ tuba, yet your tone and articulation were very nice.
I don't _hate_ jazz, it's just that it doesn't resonate with me. I relate much more to classical music. Give me Rachmaninoff over Louis Armstrong any day.
Christopher Harris it’s an eb bass, much higher range, also have you never had one of your bands tubas try out for an honors band? Solos routinely go that high on a BBb.
Tommy Ellis It wasn't the accuracy I was noting, but rather that his swing style seemed really overemphasized, as I would imagine someone who doesn't play jazz much would do
MLGSSJ What are you talking about? We have valves and slides, and we need much better face muscles and a powerful embouchure to play our instruments. We also need to buzz into our instrument, while a woodwind often just blows. I'd say that both categories are equally as challenging.
jdjsnsnsaga yeheh yeah 3/4 valves and a slide try playing an instrument that uses 9 of your fingers, its easy for us to go off key and you guys at least have a spit valve
MLGSSJ Some woodwind instruments, like the saxophone, have a literal octave key. If that isn't laziness, I don't know what is. As I said before, each class of instrument has its ups and downs.
Does that make it woodwind?
Are you stupid! Of COURSE it does!
The Saucetin no. Bamboo is grass, grasswind
Donald J. Trumpet (in that case all reeded instruments would be grass wind YEET)
Prosperity except that reed instruments are commonly made of wood

Your tone is to die for. Absolutely amazing
I'm wondering if anyone has tried to make one out of stone like quartz or lapis or any other type of stone material before?

Now what about a wooden tuba with a metal mouthpiece...?
Indigo Azai I’m still waiting.

Welp I’m “in the mood” to play my Tuba.
You actually play that instrument very well. For some reason, I expected you to have a bit more difficulty playing something like an E♭ tuba, yet your tone and articulation were very nice.
It sounds really nice! You wouldn't know the difference if you did not know.
Do you have the music from that snip of in the mood by Glenn Miller? Great video by the way Trent
Let us know when you start 3d printing tuba mouthpieces and I'll totally buy one!
I’m planning on making one out of a type of wood for my trumpet, most likely mimicking a custom jet tone or 5c, any advice?
Did you ever get your contrabass trombone fixed
Sounds good!
My man turned a tuba into a woodwind instrument..damn
Sounds great, I'm surprised Trent! Btw... heard you hated jazz, cool you play "In the Mood" at the start there haha
I don't _hate_ jazz, it's just that it doesn't resonate with me. I relate much more to classical music. Give me Rachmaninoff over Louis Armstrong any day.

Can you do a mouthpiece collection video?
I've never heard such high music on a tuba :O
Christopher Harris it’s an eb bass, much higher range, also have you never had one of your bands tubas try out for an honors band? Solos routinely go that high on a BBb.
Is the end song from the movie “it’s such a beautiful day” ?
Is an “Eb bass” or Eb tuba really only one octave lower than a tenor horn, or is it two octaves lower?
It's only one octave lower than a tenor horn
One of your valves needs a new pad.
Can you sell the me 6 valve trumpet ? I’d love to have it !
Were you playing a C Tuba? Just curious.
Eb.
It's not 'Englandland', it's 'Englandhamshire'
Seems like you don't play jazz too much, eh Trent?
Billy Garvey In The Mood isn't easy on trumpet, in his defense.
Tommy Ellis It wasn't the accuracy I was noting, but rather that his swing style seemed really overemphasized, as I would imagine someone who doesn't play jazz much would do
Nice
Trent Hamilton- The band geek with too much time on his hands. Much love!
