I haven't seen it yet, but the impression I get from the trailers is: Silence of the Lambs + Zodiac, psychological thriller with supernatural & occult elements, slow-burn vibe with some quality jump-scares. It looks really good. It actually looks pretty scary too. I'm excited for it.
This film just looks bonkers bro… that vhs 90s theme look throws it into an even creepier feel. Shout out to the Blackcoats daughter !!! I have that as the 3rd scariest film I’ve seen ever!
I haven't been this excited for a movie in ages. I've never seen Cage doing such a character before, so i'll just have to watch it. I don't think i'll be disappointed in the least. Great review!
I think the marketing is genius! We know it’s not going to be exactly as it seems. Remember marketing for hereditary? It was perfect and flipped the script.
Brother great quality video and review! Thank you so much for talking about this because I’ve been dying to hear more if even a little shred. I’m beyond excited for this and haven’t been this stoked for a movie in years. Keep ‘em coming mate!
He fell out with a lot of producers in Hollywood so doubt he will win anything major again. Then again I doubt he cares, he just loves acting and he’s won an Oscar already.
Alicia Witt! I was just re-watching Twin Peaks where she plays Donna's prodigy little sister! They cast her because she herself was a prodigy that's why she could play piano so well so young. Anyways I was asking aloud whether or not she still had a career so its cool she's in this. Also long live Nic Cage!
Is the "Birthday Murders" website a big spoiler for the film? It seems to be covering some of the murders that were teased in the trailer but leaves most of the aftermath to the descriptions of the crimes and our imaginations. My take is that the murders featured on the website won't be explicitly shown or detailed in the movie (it is only about 1 hour and 40 minutes long), but they will be touched on. Also curious to see what will be added on the site next week. Anyone got info on this? Also, how good are the jump scares and gory moments?
Excellent! I'm so glad to hear this has a lot more depth beyond the "unrelenting horror" that the trailers are pushing - don't get me wrong, I did love the trailers, but they don't give away much (which is a good thing!) The mystery surrounding this film has had me interested for some time! I cant get enough Nick Cage lately - he's on fire!
Oh honey... It isn't the jump scares that will get you with this one. It's like Oz Perkin's other movie I Am The Pretty Thing... In which I'd wake up months later thinking about the movie... Or I'd hear a sound in the middle of the night.... It's not the immediate horror of what you are seeing... It's how it will creep under your skin, and lie dormant in your brain... 😳
@@Jack-ns9sz Thank you, it relieved me lol continuations are good but in some cases (like this) they should remain unique (at least that's what I felt)
Hey Eric, Noticed you referred to Kiernan Shipka as Sally or Sabrina. Did you happen to see her as Katherine in Oz Perkins’ “The Blackcoat’s Daughter”? An absolute gem and her performance was chilling! Worth a watch if you’ve not seen it.🔪🩸

Plus Nicky cage as the antagonist I'm sold
So excited for it and your review has increased said excitement exponentially. Set in the 90s! Dude I’m in heaven

You had me at Osgood Perkins. And a stellar cast in what looks to be great horror/thriller. Can't wait.

Y'all are so lucky to have seen this already. I've been wanting to see Longlegs since the first teaser in February. ❤🔥🖤
Thanks for the review!
I get se7en and hereditary vibes on this.
When I saw Maika Monroe was in this, it was an immediate yes for me. I'm so excited for this film.

She also stars in a terrific thriller called ‘The Stranger’ it’s on Hulu
And in The Guest (also terrific) which you can see a poster of behind Eric in this review.
Is nicolas cage's performance oscar worthy?
He fell out with a lot of producers in Hollywood so doubt he will win anything major again.

Very much looking forward to the opening
it was insane!
Excellent review. I can't wait to see it. Thank you.

Yeah, I was really happy to see her in this (loved that she got to come back in Twin Peaks: The Return).
Alicia Witt from Urban Legends?! Nice!!!
That's odd because some reviews said it was extremely disturbing. And scary af
Thanks for the review. Nice Magik poster, Eric.
Thanks! One of my all-time favorite characters.
PUT THE ******* LOTION IN THE BASKET
Is the plot easy to follow like Silence of the Lambs or is there a lot of artsy stuff to interpret
Yay💜 your review makes me want to see it even more! Can’t wait! I’ll definitely be seeing this in theaters💜💜

What i expected is SlowBurn horror. I hope for that. Nothing much.
I’ve said from the beginning the marketing feels like Silence of the Lambs meets Sinister.
Sounds like that’s pretty spot on.

Do you think the ending leaves room for continuation? Or does it end permanently?
Permanently. I can't see how there could be any continuation.

@@Jack-ns9sz Lee is longlegs daughter, aren't she?
Gosh the breathless hype!
Necesito esta review en español!
paused this to say spoilers and the reviews before the movie comes out are fucked. deuces

No, I need to see that! Big fan of both of them so it's on my list.
