What an amazingly effective metabolism these spiders must have. I can certainly see why they would be reluctant to bite. If the only fluid they get is from eating once every few months they probably cant spare the venom as it must also require fluids to produce.

These guys are so fun to watch catch prey cuz they are so fast. They are so cute too. So excited that you guys got so many. This one might be scary in the baby dept. since they are so fast and tiny. That was very fascinating . They must have a tolerance to their own venom . As the dinner will obviously have venom in them but only while its in their food and ingested . Because when a female kills a male her venom kills him . I find that side of their biology extremely interesting. As always nice work camera lady . Glad there was any run aways Dave ..until next 🥰🥰🥰
I expect that eating your own venom is very differant to being stabbed with it - If you think about it a human wouldnt live very long if you injected your own stomach acid into your blood stream.

Nice love the 6 eye sand spider 🕷 😍 I just got myself a new kenyan sand boa from my local petco they couldn't get her to eat so ive fed her for a month got her 75% off for a total of 40$......awe I just saw that one died on transport such a shame ik how this goes when getting animal shipments
one thing i like about dave is how reasonable the guy is - actually using a small razor to open the box instead of like a giant army knife like many of the other channels because he knows its about the spider content and not the sensationalism.
Something you bring up from time to time is the glass climbing or lack thereof. Is there a video where you discuss in detail why some can and the differences in those that can't? I've always found that aspect interesting, especially since I don't know any details about it. I guess I could have just asked "Why can't they climb the glass?"

He even experienced snowfall there but that's a rare event even if it gets cold normally during the nights as it gets very warm during the day. Some moisture comes on the sand with frost so I guess that some animal uses that as a water source just like the insects etc uses the moisture from the sea mist in the Namib desert.

Nice clip as always. One question though, you mentioned that they can be easily overfed. This is a topic everyone on YT mentions from time to time but I never actually found a clip, in which is explained if and what issues can come along with overfeeding spiders and tarantulas. So maybe you make one about it.
Iv always put something for them to molt from Dave really had a notable problem, also when I thought a molt was due ie in next few days I would offer a wax worm to boost fluid intake.
I feel like the sand should of been finer.. seems abit to rocky to me . But I’m no expert..lol . Love the unboxing .. always have lived the sand spider and the trap door type spiders.. wish I could get ahold of one of the Japanese funnel webs .. have the Colombian funnel but can’t track a Japanese one

I was watching the closeups intently, thinking for sure one of them was going to make a mad dash! Why is it that they can't climb the smooth surfaces? I just have to tell you that I've never been so captivated by any programming since I was a kid watching a child's science show entitled "Mr. Wizard." I guess that makes you the Mr. Wizard of the spider world.
Quick question. How do you go about heating your animal room? I moved from London to Scotland about 18 months ago and didn't bother heating my spider room until I moved. I have a 2kw fan heater that is set to come at 20C and go off at 25C but I daresay the actual temperature is a bit inconsistent around the room. In the time I've been at the new address, I've picked up about 60 slings and none have really grown so I am guessing the room is too cold. For example, I got a 1cm LP while in London and it matured as a male within 18 months. I picked up another 1cm LP when I moved and it's grown to about 2cm in the same length of time. With the cost of energy these days, I'm interested to see how other people heat their rooms/enclosures. Thanks

They are great spiders but but you need to keep on top of their humidity requirements check out my videos on them and see what you think , they can be quit the handful 👍
I immediately noticed that the description said ' 6 eyed' so that intrigued me. I've mentioned for some reason your tarantulas s eyes draw me and I've been waiting for a video on the eyes. I just did a peek research. Learned that spiders have 8, 6, 4, or 2 eyes ( but always an even number) ( tarantulas have 8), and it says that some spiders such as cave dwellers may have none. It wasn't clear if they actually have no eyes or if they have just lost the sight due to the environment. Said some spiders have 8 eyes all in front which seems to defeat the purpose of them having so many. Have been waiting to tell you and Camera Lady I think you would have been pleased with me this past week. There was a weenie little spider on my stove top. A year ago I would have smashed it with something. Instead I took a little plastic medicine cup and use it for a catch cup. Wasn't sure what I could use for a lid. I was hoping it would climb the sides to the inverted floor. It didn't. I finally used a paper thin piece of cardboard and slid it under and brought it outside. You should have seen that little bugger take off. Not sure all creepy crawlers in here will be treated so nicely but I was glad to see him go his merry way.
Dave they need some corkbark since they like bit highter spot for front legs when they moult. Also they need to have sand witch is really easy tu burrow. This pebbles are bad idea.

I was watching the closeups intently, thinking for sure one of them was going to make a mad dash! Why is it that they can't climb the smooth surfaces? I just have to tell you that I've never been so captivated by any programming since I was a kid watching a child's science show entitled "Mr. Wizard." I guess that makes you the Mr. Wizard of the spider world.

Quick question. How do you go about heating your animal room? I moved from London to Scotland about 18 months ago and didn't bother heating my spider room until I moved. I have a 2kw fan heater that is set to come at 20C and go off at 25C but I daresay the actual temperature is a bit inconsistent around the room. In the time I've been at the new address, I've picked up about 60 slings and none have really grown so I am guessing the room is too cold. For example, I got a 1cm LP while in London and it matured as a male within 18 months. I picked up another 1cm LP when I moved and it's grown to about 2cm in the same length of time. With the cost of energy these days, I'm interested to see how other people heat their rooms/enclosures. Thanks

Jumping in while still watching, I totally agree with what you just said, it's unfortunate the spider passed but these things happen and not always the fault of the sender so they shouldn't get undeserved negative, public, reviews

Hi 'ya Dave, nice show today! I've been watching for about a years now, and have really enjoyed these 'creature classes" because that I exactly what they are. I'm not volunteering for an test, but my knowledge of all things "buggy" has grown immensely thanks to you.
But I would like to give a big "THANK YOU" to Mrs. Dave, one of the most awesome camera operators I've had the pleasure of watching. Several times while watching this episode I found myself thinking "oh, great shot there" or "wow, nice zoom". Most people would not even notice such things, and that is truly the mark of astounding skill. Does your wife have a background in photography or cinema? Maybe part of an episode she could talk about her equipment, training and skills. And do you edit the video or does she? What software do you use?
It's about time you share you 'secret weapon' with the rest of us, Dave! And maybe you could talk about yourself as well: how you got started collecting critters, are you a member of any organizations or clubs, where did you learn about beasties, etc.
It's been enjoyable getting to know you and your collections over that past year or so, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to know more about what you do and why.

They are great spiders but but you need to keep on top of their humidity requirements check out my videos on them and see what you think , they can be quit the handful 👍

I immediately noticed that the description said ' 6 eyed' so that intrigued me. I've mentioned for some reason your tarantulas s eyes draw me and I've been waiting for a video on the eyes. I just did a peek research. Learned that spiders have 8, 6, 4, or 2 eyes ( but always an even number) ( tarantulas have 8), and it says that some spiders such as cave dwellers may have none. It wasn't clear if they actually have no eyes or if they have just lost the sight due to the environment. Said some spiders have 8 eyes all in front which seems to defeat the purpose of them having so many. Have been waiting to tell you and Camera Lady I think you would have been pleased with me this past week. There was a weenie little spider on my stove top. A year ago I would have smashed it with something. Instead I took a little plastic medicine cup and use it for a catch cup. Wasn't sure what I could use for a lid. I was hoping it would climb the sides to the inverted floor. It didn't. I finally used a paper thin piece of cardboard and slid it under and brought it outside. You should have seen that little bugger take off. Not sure all creepy crawlers in here will be treated so nicely but I was glad to see him go his merry way.

Dave they need some corkbark since they like bit highter spot for front legs when they moult. Also they need to have sand witch is really easy tu burrow. This pebbles are bad idea.
It’s made up of very fine sand they have already buried away👍as for the moulting I have had better results with them on just sand no climbing
