I like your breadth of comics in these ranking videos ‐ from the mainstream gimmick covers, showcasing the mainly superhero titles of DC, Marvel and Image, past the 90s independent humorous buddy title Archer & Armstrong by BWS, to the ultra radical satire of American Flagg by one of the original comics auteurs Howard Chaykin. I love your choice and variety.
THANK YOU for the kind words. I'm glad there are those, like me, who love a good comic no matter the category. If it's good, or interesting, or unique in some way, I'll show it. There are SO many good, FORGOTTEN, comics out there that I am happy to show them. The stranger, more interesting, more engaging the comic, the better, IMO! Thanks again for the kind words. I hope I can feature some comics you haven't seen before. Or ones you've heard about, but never seen. Too fun! Thanks again!!!
Wow Wow Wow. I am not the only Howard Chaykin fan. Who knew? I have many series of which I only kept one book ... the Howard Chaykin fill in. When I went to sell my Amerikan Flagg books, I couldn't do it. The guy is a prophet. You could have picked 10 number ones in this series. It was remarkable. I disagree with the characterization of Howard's outfits as a 80's trope exaggeration. I found them to be very futuristic and eerily predictive of modern and still future fashion. I think he would have been wonderful at designing costumes for scifi films or, hell, for just high fashion itself. The whole idea of wearing underwear as outside clothes didn't really exist in the 80's but got more dominant over the years until it became prevailing fashion. Howard is still the future but we're closing in on it. I get how the political intrigue became a bore for you in time but it was the whole point of the story. I found it to be very insightful and ground breaking for it's period. There was a time when I dreaded Chaykin fill-in issues because his look and feel never fit into continuity, but now, years later, those are the books left standing in my PC. I love Howard Chaykin's work.
Chaykin was one of the first artists that I was able to recognize. I know Howard's work when I see it and I love it! I agree with you about his fashion sense. I still wear my ties like he drew them (especially how Nick Fury wore his tie in The Scorpio Connection). I binge read this series and didn't understand a lot of the political references and undertones in my youth. I need to revisit the series, knowing what I'm getting into. I kept expecting a superhero story when I read it the first time. I kept expecting Flagg to be a typical hero. He is not. I think I'll enjoy it much more when I read it again (soon). I love Chaykin's work too! SO underrated!!! Thanks for the comment, as always!!!
@thecomicsamurai I have most of these issues in my long boxes and like yourself, I did not understand the satire and social commentary ‐ I bought them mainly because of the Chaykin art, and, the Ken Bruzenak lettering ‐ I remember Ken's nane off the top of my head, because that's how great his work was.
@@holyharlot5222 His work is timeless. Such a talent! I was so happy to do this spotlight. I've had this run for so long that it felt amazing to get them out and reminisce. These lesser-known runs are my favorite! The videos don't get many views, but THAT is what is exciting to me! Not very many people know about them, but the ones who do... It's like we're in a secret club together. We get it. These are good comics. Those that know, they just get it. Those that don't know, well they may choose to find out because of my video. And that's pretty cool. Chaykin deserves the attention.
@@jumu446 The lettering on this run is FANTASTIC! They should use these issues as a textbook. Seriously! I can't name many letterers, but the work done on this series stands out in my memory VERY much! So good!!! Also... (Nice to know I'm not the only one who sometimes feels a little lost on the first read-through sometimes.) We were kids, some of us, after all.
@@jumu446 Well you're in luck. Both of those runs are in development. (I actually do a little research and review for these videos) I really can't wait, because they are two of my FAVORITE runs as well and I hope I can do right by them. Thanks for the comment!!!

How about some George Perez covers?
Sounds good! New Teen Titans was my favorite run of his. We'll get there soon! Thanks for the suggestion!!!
@@thecomicsamuraiTeen Titans by Wolfman & Perez is my favourite ever comic run. John Byrne on FF, would be my second.
