That is a old trick they bent the rear spring so it will sit flatter on the coils. You will see that on a lot of old machines from like the 50's & order
If you have room you can take a flat file and level that shelf out
Its hard to tell if the geometry is bad . I mean it runs good. Would make a great color packer
60$ for these bad boys now. :(
