Probably one of your best vlogs in my opinion. Sailing by your fingertips (and filmed) in the true ozzy fashion (use stucky tape). One of the most entertaining vloggers certainly.
Normally when a marine engine overheats you check your primary coolant level , sea water suction strainer / strum box , the pump and the heat exchanger . The heat exchanger can be 80% blocked with marine growth or debris and still show a decent amount of discharge water through the water cooled exhaust . I assume the Jabsco is the sea water pump and the coolant circulation pump is a Perkins mounted centrifugal , that pump may need to be looked at if everything else checks out . If this video is old footage then no doubt the problem has been sorted , would be good to know what the problem was .
Fun to watch and like many others I would like to know you and M. are doing well in real time. Burlington Bill of the song Sailing to Freedom episode 265 and 6.
Whenever the engine stops it can slightly rotate in the opposite direction and leave one impellor facing the opposite way. Perfectly normal. The impeller looks in good condition.

On your "OVER HEAT" problem....it only overheats while under a heavy load? ....most likely your muffler is clogged up with salt deposits. When she's running easy it can pass enough water to keep cool enough....but make her work hard and BAM !!! She overheats. You can take the muffler off and beat it with a hammer and shake out the rock like deposits out. This will actually work for a long time, at least untill you can get a replacement muffler. Let me know if this works !?!😎💪👍

The impeller vane that was stuck in the wrong direction was causing excess friction. Your drive belt was probably slipping with this excess pump friction.
This is just about up to the Exile at sea series where they spent 70 days without a port. That's followed by the Struck by lightning series, where he holed the boat then hauled out in Panama. The last videos from real time were a couple of months ago.

A message from a Cuban long time resident, just passing it along. It's not that I THINK it's prohibited to fish for lobster in Cuba, I KNOW it is. A friend and neighbor of mine almost lost his car. He told me about it himself. He picked up a man who had some lobster in a bag. The police stopped them at a check point, they were then taken to s police station and he had great trouble persuading the police that he didn't know the man. In Cuba the penalty for killing a cow was 25 years, no parole. They just changed the law last year. Tatica, my ex, her husband was locked up for a couple of days for being in possession of a home made ice cream machine and we had to drive out into the country side to take him his medicine, clean water etc. He was in police station cell with a young boy caught with beef. The boy hung himself in the night.
If that's a Perkins 4000 series, then 2200 rpm should be considered the redline. Okay to go higher for quick bursts or, obviously, if you're clawing off a lee shore, but otherwise no. I'm a big fan of these engines; they're tough, reliable and will see 12000 hours, with regular oil changes etc, before a major service. They tend to be a bit smelly, noisy, vibrate, weep a little oil and smoke on startup, but none of that should bother a seaman (though it might bother his wife!) They are also &^$##% heavy, being cast iron. They're easy to work on and you can get spares just about anywhere. Half a million units were made and they're popular for light commercial and agri vehicles too. However it is an old design. As for the impeller, no that should not be like that. How it got that way is something I'd investigate. It's possible that debris got in and jammed or deformed it. Check your seawater intake and also the pump body, for scoring. I always carried a couple of spare impellers, they're cheap insurance.

It would be really informative if the youtube sailors could post the month the video is shot. It would be especially helpful when references to covid are mentioned. Also, when we see a hurricane building in the Caribbean and then a video pops up in the same area and I see a YT sailor under sunny skies and calm seas it's easy to wonder what's going on.

Any vid with an episode number is in sequential order, but many weeks in the past. Any episode without an episode number was a "real-time update," out of order. They haven't given us a real-time-update for a couple of months. They are still posting the sequential footage so we can assume they are still alive and well.
@@sailor-rick Exactly. If they were not okay then they wouldn't be uploading videos. He put out a video a while back saying they had a lot of footage that they were not able to get uploaded, because of covid they had no way to upload, so this is part of that footage.

Could you please mention your depth under the boat from time to time? Nice speed, 6 knots in a 9 breeze. When you got caught with a lack of light to find the channel, did you consider sending the drone out to look for you, or taking the dinghy? It sure looks like a faulty impeller to me.

Make shore the belt does not slip If it is old and glazzy change it and tighten to spec.
Does the engine have a thermostat in the cooling system? If it is stuck in the closed position it might be the cause of the overheating.
