    I was likewise frustrated with the lack of exterior attachment options, and so I sewed some leather lashing tabs on myself. It worked out heat

    For me it would be perfect. I use it for tactical and backpacking. Love the velcro inside. The biggest thing is that it's so modular!

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The modular capability is great...I think with a couple additional straps this bag would be a 10. It's very comfortable...Features are very nice...quality is top notch. I'm just a bit limited for my personal need...

    Its a good pack. I agree with him on more attachment points and extra straps that could be tucked away especially on the bottom.

      Exactly! A few easy mods and this would be a 10 out of 10. As it is, a great pack, but limited. Thanks for watching!

    A great EDC pack for me. Or for travel.
    Thanks for the detailed review.

      It's so in the middle...really tough to pin it down. I want to LOVE it, but it just needs like 2 or 3 small tweaks to go from a 7/10 to a 10/10. Ride quality is great, but the lack of a few attachment points makes me struggle a bit for my needs.

    I have the the vertx gamut 1.0 bag that I have been using as my daily EDC and school bag. It is just a little on the small size for my daily needs but it is hard to know if the overland will be too big... Good review

    Hey , great review and very helpful as to know how much it does pack for an overnight camping . Well pointed negatives which are very essential for hiking . What do you recommend. Between Vertx gamut , 5:11 Amp 36 and 5:11 rush 32 ?

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What is your intended use? Like for example are you specifically looking for a bag for overnight camping? I would suggest a bag at 40 liter or greater with no significant orgainzation. All the pockets and zippers take away from the capacity. I would struggle to use the Vertx as an overnight bag. Day pack, yes...overnight not really.

      @@outerlimitless Is the Gamut Overland suitable as an everyday carry backpack? Intentend use is school, work and shorter weekend-travels.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertzackrisson7208 the overland will be pretty big for an edc, but the standard Gamut might be better suited if your looking for an edc option

    Damn you say larger EDC bag, would it be weird to use this for my main edc bag? I was thinking 25L is good. But maybe I need something bigger if I want a hiking/EDC bag. You said this was in the middle hmm.

    I like the design of this pack. On my pack (Camelbak tri-zip) the side zipper pockets are very similar but have molle on the outside instead of two stretchy waterbottle pouches. So i have to actually have to buy camelbak molle waterbottle pouches for the outside of my two side pockets. Although one of my side pockets is insulated for a waterbottle but the other one is an admin pocket so i could get away with just one if i want a waterbottle on both sides of my pack. I have always wondered what would be a better design where a side zipper pocket could still hold a water bottle outside of it without being too bulky. This overland pack accomplished that very nicely! I can tell this company has actually used many different packs before designing theirs! Very nice use of space but still compact and comfortable. Military appointments with a civilian greyman look awesome. Stay safe! Hike on!!

      I do like this pack quite a bit. I wish it had 2 features...just a little molle on the top of the head of the pack to add a strap for things like my tripod. And some molle on the very bottom to hold a tent or something like that...it would greatly help the functionality. But yes, the water bottle pockets are great on this pack.

    • @guitarhiker4449
      @guitarhiker4449 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@outerlimitless Great input into this pack thanks alot! I agree with the molle on bottom. My tri-zip has it and thats where i put my tent lol. I have owned and tested soo many packs and the conclusion i have come to is you need two main packs. One smaller pack as your day hiking pack. Preferably around the 25 liter mark not too small not too big. Second is your camping pack and from my experience packs under 40 liters just don't cut it. Between 45-55 liters is perfect for someone who hs their gear fairly dialed in. You can also have third pack or EDC bag that could even double as your bugout bag. My tri-zip is 37 liters and it drives me nuts trying to fit all my gear in it and it lacks just a few must have features although the molle does make up for that. Mid size packs can be a nightmare sometimes. I love the looks and features of the vertx gamut overland pack just wish it was 45 liters instead of 33 liters. But it serves a purpose especially for weapons carry. Also light enough for a day pack i you have shown. Its very hard to find a do all pack!! Even packs that are expandable in size like the karrimor sabre SF packs, the sierra designs flex capacitor pack and the wisport crossfire. The Sundown pack by northern ultralight might be a winner though but still you kinda need two packs. Wish vertx would make the overland larger and the camelbak tri-zip but i digress. Good luck out there! Stay safe man! Hike on!

    Great video, wondering how you think the vertx packs (this and/or gamut) and the Direct Action packs (Dragon Egg) compare in terms of quality and overall feel. Would you buy Vertx over Direct Action? Or do you think D.A. are better value? Or would you say Vanquest is better? It's hard sourcing American made bags over here in New Zealand so want to make the right decision. kind regards Pete

    Would you recommend this pack for an EDC? I’m 6’3” and 215 lbs. The type of work I do requires I always carry a change of clothes along with med kit and other essentials. Without having seen it first hand, I’m trying to figure of it may be too large for an EDC.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be a slightly large EDC, BUT... if you need the supplies and change of clothes then it might be about right. They also have the standard Gamut which is smaller.

    I own one and while I love the bag I have the same issues and complaints. It would be far more versatile with the few modifications or additions you point out. Bottom lShing and side lashing points the most important..

      It's so close to a perfect bag...soooo close! But some minor mods would really make me gravitate to it and want to use it more than I do.

    not waterproof...

    • @13Recon19D
      @13Recon19D 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Water resistant, like most bags out there. You can use ziplocks to seal smaller items and a dry bag for the larger ones. And/or use waterproof cover over the bag to protect it if it rains.
