    Love this discussion! That is why I rejected calvinism once I realized my church was teaching it. It teaches that God's character is not truly loving and I can't for a moment equate that with my Heavenly Daddy and the way He has always treated me. The Bible also says that He does not show favoritism. Blessings to all! Thank you for this great conversation, Melissa and Keith!

    No words can describe the wonders you’ve done from my life in the past four months. I was completely depressed and deprived of soul with my fear of the unpardonable sin. You guys rock! I had an experience of God's love once when I was evangelical. It lasted for about 3 days. I remember knowing THERE WAS NO WAY that the Love of the Father I was experiencing would send someone to hell. It was that powerful. However, I was not strong enough to break away from the indoctrination at the time. I left christianity about a year later. That was 1987. Fast forward to 2022 and I feel something is wanting to reconstruct in and through me. It's early days but I will see what happens.

    Hey my elder sister, it is a great video as usual!, you always touch me with your pure soul!! ❤❤❤. To be honest with you, i got shocked when you said that you were raised as a Calvinist lol as it is a very strict Christian denomination, in fact you being able to move towards universalism is a miracle!!, considering your religious backround. God electing certain people for salvation from the beginning whereas the rest are doomed to Hell is the most controversial doctrine in Calvanism, it's antithetical to God's just nature, you being able to think through this doctrine is a great feat!!. (Your little brother Juad, with my infinite adoration)❤❤❤🙏

      @LoveCoveredLifePodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Brother, yes I was raised in Calvinism - got out of there as quickly as I could 😂 Although now I can look back and understand that the doctrine of God's total sovereignty brings comfort to some. That's the great thing about universalism - we get to keep both God's sovereignty and his love (and his wisdom and his goodness and his justice, ect, ect....)

    I'm deconstructing in my late 50's and troubled by the scripture that says "without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins." Keith alluded to what the 3 types of He'll say about the character & nature of God. My question is what does requiring blood sacrifice & slaughter of either animals in Old Testament or of His son in the New testament in order to forgive sin say about the character & nature of God? He expects us to forgive each other without us demanding someone dies first so why does He? How is that consistent with a benevolent God of unconditional love?

    Lovely video! I love your spirit and your channel my sister in Christ!!❤💜 Great job. In Judaism from what I have been studying, Gehenom which can be translated to hell, is known as a purifying place for souls. It makes sense how somebody can believe in Christian Universalism and not eternal torment after looking at Judaism which is where the origins of Christianity come from.
    Jewish people wrote the bible. Eternal torment in Christianity is quite a jump from Judaism's orignal view of the afterlife. Where did this big transition happen? The early origins of Judaism come from the God of Abraham who already had a covenant with His people and His people already had views of the afterlife that were nothing close to eternal torment.
    Now all of a sudden Jesus and the new testament comes and we see a better covenant with heftier consequences? No way! Not from what I have studied so far at least. I am still learning but I truly hope people start studying and noticing these things instead of being afraid that God will destroy them. It's sad to believe in a God that allows so many to be "decieved" in a pure and honest attempt to find Him and then makes this contingent upon your "eternal salvation".
    Happy I am starting to study to show myself approved like like the bible says without looking down on others and keeping a humble heart. The questions I have had in my head my whole life about Christianity are answered in Christian Universalism. I thought so many times after looking at verses like 2 Peter 3:9 KJV where it spoke about how the Lord is not slack concerning His plan but is longsuffering toward us not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. I would think how in the world is this verse accomplished with the way things are going and the concept of "most people aren't going to make it"?
    Then you start trying to explain things like how a fundamentalist would. You say "Well maybe hearing about Jesus ONCE counts" in order to still hold onto Jesus who you know is real but you know it makes no sense how quickly he seems to switch and you know there is still so much to learn and so much that you don't know. Some people just leave Christianity all together because the associations they make of this eternal torment doctrine affect their view of Jesus so badly and it becomes too hard to connect with the eternal living God. If people understood the truth about Jesus's character and the mistranslations of the bible and how that impacted huge concepts about God they would know who the king of kings was and have a better ultimate plan of God.

    • @LoveCoveredLifePodcast
      @LoveCoveredLifePodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      YES sister! We actually touched on this subject in the interview but I didn't include it here - those who wrote the Bible had no concept of ECT. They believed that most would be reconciled back to God through Gehenna or Gehinnom - a place of purification that lasts at most 12 months, and that the very few who could not be reconciled would be annihilated. Jesus talks about Gehenna, not "hell," so that should tell us something.

    • @Star-os3xd
      @Star-os3xd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LoveCoveredLifePodcast yes, exactly! Jesus has to make a BETTER covenant with His death not an even more horrible one where even more are lost. I realize Christianity was never supposed to be the way it is. I realize Judaism didn't involve a lot of evangelism and trying to tell other's of their religion if I am correct unless you were marrying into their family. It seems they had a peace of God solving everything. When the savior of the WORLD who restores all comes into the world and fuflills what we all have been waiting for then this is when evangelism comes into our religion! This is when it is finally alright to tell people the GOOD news. This is just my theory unless God reveals that I am right. It just makes sense to me that confusion would break through disgusting so many from God's true character and love.

It's almost as if he is genuinely all loving and really doesn't want his children in hell but there is this aspect in him called Justice which seems to just not allow him to save everyone. It's like he just can't help himself. I hear this all the time: God is Love, but he is also just... So you are screwed!

    Great video! I enjoyed the discussion about free will and our misconceptions there. William Lane Craig and others argue that there can be people who reject God, totally grasping they are severing themselves from the life and love they need, simply because they "refuse to bend the knee" (like Satan in Paradise Lost). Do you think God can save even someone this obstinate? Is somebody this obstinate if they don't feel God's presence as much as they want? (Sometimes I feel "on the outs" with God, despite knowing that universalism is the only thing worth hoping for.. and get mad at God for what I feel is playing games, hopefully that isn't a sin)

    • @LoveCoveredLifePodcast
      @LoveCoveredLifePodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be honest Brother, I think it's impossible for us to choose anything other than God. Even the worst among us, those following evil impulses, do what they do because they think in their twisted way that it will bring them peace or satisfaction. That peace and satisfaction they are looking for is God, they are looking for the right thing in a very wrong place. So because of this, we learn through suffering, or karma. We learn what God is by experiencing what he is not. If someone is not "bending the knee" it's because they see God as a tyrant who demands us to bend the knee. They are looking for God, or security, in their own sense of dominance and independence. As this view of God brings suffering, their understanding will shift, until eventually this illusion will fall away.

    Why did jesus die?
    Why repent?
    Love!
    The simple answer is always LOVE.
    This does not occur to those compelled to preach fear, not love.
    How poor to only know what some are taught to repeat, rather than to consider how great is love and that love is the good news and a prophetic promise. "You shall love...", yes we shall!!
    How much better to teach 'love'!
