I'm sure the dedicated aftermarket amplification does help quite a bit, but those speakers have a very charming warmth to their sound that makes them generally appealing.

Same car model as mine. I had upgraded to eton 8 speakers but do you able to upgrade and install the center speaker ? Basically the eyon speakers are good enough to drive by the head unit without installing the amplifier indeed. Actually you don't need to turn full volume to listen the music as it is already so loud by 80% volume.

It is video like this that make people believe that BMW owners are stuck with upgrading to a set of limited brands…brands that has premium price tag without truly premium quality.

Ok, tell me other brands which fit BMW ? apart from Eton / audison BMW are so awkward to upgrade.

The door speakers are very easy to adapt just about any brand to fit, but if you want to keep the shallow-mount subwoofer design in the OEM locations then you are legitimately limited in which brands are available for those particular speakers. There are quite a few that make them, though, but nowhere near as many brands as you can choose from for in-door speakers or subs built into an external enclosure.
The main benefit of these "premium" brands targeted at BMW and a handful of other manufacturers is the ease of use. Most of their systems, while they will benefit from additional amplification, can be run directly from the OEM head unit's amplifier and still sound better than stock and their installation is trivially easy because they're literally plug-and-play with no adapters necessary. It's the convenience that you pay for. Plus, Eton's OEM replacement speakers are legitimately quite good despite the very conventional materials. Are there better aftermarket speakers out there? Damn right there are. Are they as convenient to install? No.
If you're willing to deal with adapters and cutting and splicing wires then you should absolutely buy whatever you want as long as you can make it fit.
