I can't stress how good this show is in a condensed arc helped me understand "context". Would never understand this thread from Kiki through the El Chapo nightmare in modern times. And the heroism and money spent to compress all this beauty and geography of this world of Mexico (Sinaloa, Mexico City, Tijuana, Guadalajara), Costa Rica, Panama and Columbia and El Paso. Just incredible. Probably a creative team did this in 1 place like Baja and some old small towns in MX. I love the geography of MX so this show just enlivens the cinema mafia tradition. Praise the creators. They nailed it.
This season was horrible and incredibly rushed, they condensed literally like 12yrs into one measly season, without ever establishing some sort of timeline and 'when' it really is.

The problem is that the actual situation with the cartels represents a risk for the team who made the series. Theres a lot of nexus of the actual goverment (AMLO and Morena) with the crime organizations, and they don't want to be compromised.

I’ll have to give this show another try. I really liked Narcos it was awesome but now Netflix shows about Mexican and Columbian cartels have people speaking English with a Mexican accent and that’s so corny to me. Why would anyone living in their homeland be speaking English? Narcos didn’t do that
