Oh man, what an amazing finale. Tom reaching the end without having a bucket or gun, actually finding a poop bucket, finding another (non-poop) bucket IMMEDIATELY after, literally being interrupted by the fort when saying he wanted to fight there, unloading all his shots into seeker recklessly, and then returning fully stocked for battle and killing it in one shot.

I'm not sure I like that players have no steering control over their airship-- they progress the story assuming you got everything you needed, which can't be assumed, since players will inevitably miss stuff. Players should be able to turn around to re-search areas.
It should just be like Raft. Just steer around and it'll generate places forever in any order but never generate an area with a part of story further ahead than the next bit. So it can be like 3 random places, then the next story part, then 3 random, then the next story location again. That was you can steer whichever way you want, can skip any location you want however many times you want and never be more than 3 locations from the next story part. I'm sure that's how it'll end up, it's too basic as it is for now
technically you dont actually need anything other than fuel to make it to the end and also you dont even have to kill the critcher, you can leave and it just loops but i get your point. i think they'll probably do more about that and add steering at some and if they decide to keep updating the game

Hope the Devs watch this series to see their glaring game design flaw that forces the player to progress without them necessarily having all the tools to actually progress

If it's that vital highlight it on the UI, make sure they get one, don't let the ship move to a new area without one etc etc. You shouldn't be able to get to the end of the game and final boss fight and be soft locked.

The explicit problem with this game is the fail state is effectively permanent, since you can't fly the flying machine backwards. This means you can easily play the game, make a mistake like not grabbing a bucket, still realise that mistake and then have no way of doing anything about it, which is where the frustration comes in. A better game would still have challenge, and require strategy, but wouldn't force you to play through the *entire rest of the game* suffering to then correct one mistake. I'm sure this must be obvious.

This games biggest problem (beyond the fact that there's ONE bucket in the whole game) is that the seeker isn't scary at all. It poses absolutely no threat.

I sort of feel like a golden tipped spear would be the best option given the rarity of gold. Somewhat ranged and reusable.
