The thing I like the most about Gyles is he knows he doesn’t shut up and does not take himself seriously at all and laughs at himself
he is an absolute riot! witty and educated, and an incredible sense of humor!
Haha I love that the office jombstare he does after he gets burned or cracks one
I love me some Gyles
Yes, ok, but you implied that there was something else you liked about the tedious, show - ruining fart, which would be...?
You must not know about his world record for longest on screen kiss with Cheryl Baker. Granted that's his second world record after longest after-diner speach that clocked in at twelve and a half hours. So swings and roundabouts.
I think the QI elves just went through Giles’ family tree, and based the questions on it 😂
I honestly thought the same!!!
Agreed. I can’t think of any other explanation.
producers need to produce. A+ to the elves.
You mean his family f**king forest 😂
Not even 2 minutes in and Sandy already gave up 😂😂😂 i love this constellation, so much fun 😊
Love Gyles. He has a succession of funny stories that make him ideal for panel shows and his own stage show. He's a wonderful writer too with 50 books to his name. A national treasure.
Being incredibly interesting is no failure of humility.
Hate that guy
"Not so much a family tree as a family fucking forest !!!"
LMFAO!!!
I love that the elfs now look for subjects that Gyles can have a lot to say about :)
To be fair, it seems they don't have to look very far
Alan messing with Susan will never get old.
I have never heard of this mister before, but what a delightfully chaotic character he is
Gyles not being on Taskmaster (even for a NY Special or something) is something that needs to be corrected ASAP
Not that this has been different any other time Gyles was on - but now I want an evening of him regaling me with his fascinating stories (and me boring him to death with mine).
he's the cohost of the something rhymes with purple podcast. lots of anecdotes between lexicography stuff
@@allen9409Doesn’t he do that with Susie Dent?
Gyles Brandreth is always a gem! And in Paisley they had to read it rwice! But I wish Alan's comments were always audibile!
Yes re Alan....I often lose his asides... Annunciate Alan annunciate 😂
We just need some way to record everything he knows so many stories would go untold
Nearly 45 minutes of listening to Gyles' anecdotes 😅 I'm here for it
Great now I want a t-shirt that says "quit while you're a head" with Marie or Louis on it
When I was a kid I read about a troupe of midget acrobats from Northern Spain who visited London and got stuck in a revolving door because they had never seen one before. Classic newspaper headline, "Don't put all your Basques in one exit!"
Back then you could kick them out and tell them to get out the way. But I think it’s frowned upon today. PC society.
@@Lepocolocoor why not be a nice person and help them out
I was once in a revolving door when a gentleman stepped in and held the door for his young son who was miles away and busy playing. It was 52 degrees and I thought I was going to die by the time i got out.
Gyles had absolutely got to be "the most interesting man in the world"
and if he isn't, he's probably related to him
@@jayabasu4297absolute class
He's a dreadful bore.
Anarchy! "My house does have revolving doors." Gyles is a legend.
I am viewing this on November the 5th and tomorrow is Susan Calman’s birthday…happy birthday Susan.
This was one of my favourite QI episodes. I absolutely love Giles
Gyles' face when he first heard his buzzer is precious 😄❤️
I simply adore Gyles. He is so funny and very interesting person. He has done so many interesting thing and knows lost of famous people. What I love the most about him is that he does not take himself serious. He is hilarious.
I would loe to see a compilation of Gyles' anecdotes.
The red and yellow flag in the background belongs to the southernmost county in Sweden, Skåne. It combines the Swedish yellow cross with the Danish red background. The area has very fertile soil so throughout history, whenever a war between the two countries ended (and there were many) the victor would take it over.
Ah! I did wonder! Thank you!!!
I always thought it might be something to do with Sandi herself...
Absolutely love Gyles.....I could listen to him for hours !!!
Oh, you would be there for hours.
Well, search ! You can !
Gyles needs a tee shirt like mine that states "Help, I'm talking and I can't shut up"
He could easily get one. I believe one of his ancestors was the first t-shirt maker for an Indian Shaman or something😊
who would ever want him to shut up though? I think he's fascinating
While I am much more of an introvert these days, I still find myself, for bette or worse, relating to Gyles… I can be incredibly long-winded. Once you get me going, and while I think my anecdotes are incredibly interesting or relevant… I worry that I am exhausting my audience. I love him, but it makes me realize how absolutely wearing that can be. 😅❤️
@@Skaitania very well put 😂😂😂
Thanks.
And he is one of the most interesting people in the world. You are…you.
Johnny Rotten only told Gyles to fuck off because he knew Gyles would go on a tangent about how his ancestor invented music or something 😂
I can't get over 'Mister Rotten' 😂😂
Giles's ...f*ck off story brilliant opening.....😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love Gyles,he relly is a very funny and interesting man.❤❤❤
One of the best episodes
Gyles is basically Slumdog Millionaire, just minus the Slumdog part
never had heard of gyles before but he's great fun!
Every Giles anecdote creates mild annoyance at its insertion followed by delight, because his random anecdotes are, somehow, always wonderful.
I'm only halfway through. This episode is delightful :)
Gyles doesn't have a family tree.
It's a FOREST. 😉😊🤣
Gyles would be great for Would I Lie To You
I've seen episodes of WILTY with Gyles....classic!
Gyles is Brilliant
Revolving does are put in buildings for fire reasons. If there is a fire ,people panic and doors become clogged with and people are trampled. The doors on the sides always open outward for the same reason.
One of the funniest 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
As for the circle drawer. Sometimes you need to have the visual of a perfect circle so your brain has a chance to copy what we perceive as a perfect circle. Obviously he became champion without the use of a device.
I wish he was on more often!!!!
This is a brilliant episode. I’m only halfway through and my sides are split and noggin full!
I feel like Gyles Brandreth was the first nepo baby
probably the first baby at all 😮
The British version of Slumdog millionaire would just be Millionaire Millionaire starring Gyles
30:21 not 50 50 hour overlooking the zero… the bank ALWAYS WINS
The carbuncle ate itself
Canna thol gyles😩
The vinegar thing: I was thinking that i have seen a Tom Scott video about it. Then I see the credits at the end and it mentions him.
Of course the first thing they talk about is the guillotine! My dad has one in his garage. Mind you it's for a magic trick. Alice Cooper has one too!
love Giles
My first acquaintance of Gyles... I want more 😁👍👌 and his family f-ing forest
TIL the current law enforcement system of Toronto was established in response to a battle between clowns and firemen.
In my state, Maine's capital city, we have 3 roundabouts
31:19 Aw, man, that just reminds me of Gamble Fish, a manga about (cheating at) gambling where one of the games that gets played later on is giant roulette... where one ally of each player was in a space. (In other words... if the ball ends up there, they get crushed to death.)
Other brands are available.
trex. great band
if alan quits before the end of the alphabet (likely. not) they should put in susan instead. she has. the right sort of energy, love-hate for the show and its rules and the same sorta banter with sandi
My chippie offers pickled onion vinegar as an alternative to nbc and that is vinegar
I lost 10,000 quid and had a great time gambling??? How's that possible? 🤣🤣🤣
Does anyone know what song is used for Susan's buzzer?

I Predict a Riot by the Kaiser Chiefs
@@alleeum thank you!
And everyone makes fun of the Boston Tea Party. We may be at this point again soon with the price of groceries.
I don't arm wrestle my imaginary friend anymore, because I always kept losing.
I would love a long lunch with Gyles.
If I couldn't afford my alcohol, I would just steal it. Joining a temperance society seems a bit overkill
So Episode 6 had no audience, but Episode 7 DID?
Weird...
I assume they’re often filmed out of order, like many panel shows.
What song is Jessicas buzzer?

9 months late but for anyone wondering:
T.Rex 'Children of the Revolution'
What we learned, study your family tree/forest well…
Do they just write the script based on Gyles Brandreth's family ?
You’re right. He’s involved in everything
History was written based on Gyles Brandreth's family.
@@get-the-joke The encyclopaedia Britannica was initially a biography of Gyles family.
The German word for Army is Heer.
More trees - this must have been before the Amazon was decimated.
The goats were removed from Olympic national Park!!!
Ah, merciful beheading.
What song is that on Susan's buzzer?
@@rakhan69x Kaiser Chiefs - I predict a Riot
Who is Susan's buzzer?
Kaiser Chiefs
It was lost in a fire, or I'd have a 50 year old square of British toilet paper from a castle tour. It had "government property" printed on it. Did they want it back?
Why do the french call à roundabout a road point anglais?
quit while you're ahead = sally
legend
Oh no, my first sight of Sandy reminded me of Donald Trump!
Sir Charles Talksalot
An absolute treasure
He will not shut up ever!
One of Gyles’ forbears CANT be the wife of Napoleon III. He and his wife, Eugénie de Montijo, only had one child, a son, and their son did not have any children.
He could be related in another way like through their siblings etc, it doesn’t have to be a direct line
Weird listening to Susan & her Scottish accent but no dialect.
40:14
This sounds like utter nonsense.
The core ideas that form "Blitzkrieg" were indeed around for a long time before WW2, revolving around advancing methods of mobile warfare, that's true.
But to say they had no idea about it as a concept is simply false. Also her description of it is also nonsense, since there's no point in air support "finishing things off" if the enemy is already destabilized from a successful breakthrough and likely encircled. If anything air support or artillery would come before the attempted breakthrough.
Though in the case of France, the Germans progressed so rapidly they often lacked artillery and air support entirely. The surprise of the Germans came from the fact they suffered an extremely low amount of resistance compared to what they had predicted during their planning, as the French forces were in shambles and still reliant on outdated tactics and static defenses, and refused to take initiative when opportunity presented itself.
Even if the Germans didn't use the term itself, its disingenuous to say they were not the "inventors" or that they had no idea how they managed to pull off such success in the early stages of the war.
That whole bit just sounds like some anti-German rhetoric, to be honest.
You sure do take the joy out of minutiae.

This is the internet, what else is there to do?
Came here looking for a similar take. This also seems to glaze over the cocaine-fueled mania that was the Wehrmacht of the early war. Yet another tool in the ‘so-called’ Blitzkrieg (should we take the show’s premise).
@@nicholascoleman1131Actually, it was mostly meth.
He's making all this crap up, right?
Giles has ADHD. Fight me.
I rewatch this to remind myself not to tell long stories as I become an old man. How fucking infurating is Gyles? Funny, yes, but christ.
Once again, Alan mistakes loudness for humor.
Negative opinions are best kept to oneself because they say nothing at all about the person you're slagging off.
Brandreth is fantastic.. the Scot is dreadful
Allen Davies once again confuses shouting with being funny. Annoying.
I like malt vinegar on my fish too.
What do you think about the riots or revolution in France today?
In the least racist way possible, I just couldn't understand her! I never thought that language would be so hard to figure out.
WHAT IS SHE EVEN SAYING?
