- Wanted to shoot native anamorphic, using lenses you already own? I did.. So last year I did some extensive testing using the SLR Magic Anamorphot 1.33x adaptor. I paired this adaptor with vintage lenses from my kit I was already very familiar with and have come to love - Primarily with Contax-Zeiss primes, but also throwing into the mix a Minolta-Rokkor 50mm and the Helios 44-M 58mm.
In this video is a bunch of test footage I shot in South Korea on a trip last year, as well as around home in Sydney. The following cameras where used:
- Red Komodo (Nature scenes shot in Korea - Jeju Island to be particular)
- Sony A7siii (Seoul food market scenes, Sydney Test shoots near the start)
- Red Dragon (Interview, rainy night scenes, underwater scenes)
Final aspect ratio of the edit - 2.40:1. Edited and graded in Davinci Resolve.

Great stuff mate. Can't wait to see the breakdown of your short doc with this adapter. Cheers Legend 👍
Quick question too - with your Contax Zeiss lenses, out of curiosity, are you rockin the AEGs or MMJ's?
Cheers mate! So with the exception of my 50mm Im on all MMJ's. AE's are sweet as well though - I love my 50 1.4 and didnt see the need to change it over, it matches the others fine the only difference is the 'ninja star bokeh' when you're wide open - People talk a lot of shit on that but I reckon its fine, and you can just stop down to 2.8 if you're not into it
