This video made me feel so happy. Once apon a time l got to see JPII in a parade in San Francisco and I swear to God that I was sitting on an elevated position and when he came by in the popemobile I looked him in the eye and pointed my finger at him and gave him a thumbs up. I am forever blessed b/c he actually looked straight at me and pointed his finger at me and gave me a thumbs up up back. Nobody will believe this but I swear it's 100% true ..
Thanks A Million For Posting This Greatest Event In Catholic History In The City of Detroit !!!.....I Had The Great Privilege of Being In The Bass Section of The Choir At The Silver Dome !!!....This Wonderful Broadcast Brings Back A Flood of Glorious Memories !!...God Bless You For Sharing This Incredible Event In It's Entirety !!!.....
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. John 3:18 “He that believeth in Him is not condemned; but He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
To think what it must have been like to be in that building with the voices of 93,682 echoing throughout that dome. I was at the silverdome once when I was little and I do remember the gigantic size of it. Beautiful music.
Thank you so much for posting this!! It had previously been up but it seemed to have been taken down before I could finish it. I appreciate you posting this so that I may finish watching it!! God Bless!
Yes, there were some technical problems with TH-cam, but they are resolved now. I'm glad you enjoyed this piece of history. Were you present at this Mass? Some Silverdome trivia: the only other event that came close to rivalling this Mass' attendance was WrestleMania III, featuring Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant in March, 1987. Hogan won. :)
Rev. Fr. J. Marcel Portelli unfortunately I wasn’t present at this mass, in fact I was born a couple years after it! I just find it so cool that the Pope came to the archdiocese of Detroit!! 😄
@@FatherJMarcelPortelliWrestleMania 3 happened on the exact date I was born and the hospital where my mom gave birth to me is located not that far from where the event took place.
I absolutely love looking at him! He makes my soul feel so peaceful, like all is right with the world. Had i been Catholic then, wild horses couldn’t have kept me away!!! It makes me sad but i dont feel quite the same about the present Holy Father… but i try
I was around 6 months old when this happened. Times sure have changed since then. His Holiness is currently walking alongside God in the Kingdom of Heaven and the Pontiac Silverdome got demolished in 2017.

It's a shame that the Silverdome got demolished.

My Grandma, Great-Aunt & Uncle and another aunt were in attendance.
I was at that Mass as a young teenager. Little did I know he would be canonized a saint.
I was there too! Maybe we crossed paths?
I'm not a religious person but I saw him in SF and it was amazing. Read my description of the encounter...
Havia um homem gritando, o que ele dizia? Ele estava com raiva?
Sorry the name of the last hymn to the final procession?
The melody is familiar to me, but I can't recall the name. Unfortunately, I can't make out any of the lyrics in order to Google it. Can anyone help?
@@FatherJMarcelPortelli ok thank’s. also in another video of a mass celebrated by Cardinal Wuerl at the end this mysterious hymn is sung ...
