@chrisf844 No, you don't need to worry about it. A blade stop is done on purpose - It's when you go into an auto, but instead of cutting the engine than putting in negative pitch, you hold positive so the blades bog down and stop. Then you add negative and the helicopter autos in. It is done completely intentionally, and you don't need to worry about it unless your doing autorotations.
Wow, nice touch. Does one pitch it over at the last few turns and as it goes round it stops - rotates - catches a little air - and begins to turn again then you just auto it in? It's a mystery to me. And if it fails you come out of Thr-hold and hope you have enuf altitude! Anyway, beauty, that one.
@chrisf844 the blades stop when they cut the engine and leave the collective up so when they stop the heli falls and (most of the time ) the blades will begin to spin again on the way down so they build up speed while falling then use that to auto rotate on landing
@tonyastro No. It's exactly what it says... Blade Stop = Blades Stop Rotating, Auto Rotate = Engine Off and the Blades turn because of the air moving past them as it falls, creating a little lift and stability.
I have heard of blades folding.. can anyone tell me why the blades stop? is this another thing I should be worried about with my trex 500? Love the flying by the way !
@chrisf844 The blades stop as part of a manouver "blade stopping auto" to do a blade stop you should auto leaving on full + pitch until the blades stop and to recover use- pitch you dont have to worry aboutt his on the 500 unless you are doing the manuover on purpose or if you dont know how to auto and try doing so with full + pitch Thanks
@skydiver211150 depends on how much time and money you can throw at it.then you need a lot of talent.....but for the rest of us its years or probably never
