This is an essential snare exercise for all drummers from beginner-advanced. For beginners it's a great learning exercise and will also develop control and speed. For advanced players it makes for a great warmup and time sharpener. We can always improve our hands by practicing these essential chop builders!

This is a good exercise. Good 4 way coordination.and development of hand speed. Also working on going from one subdivision to the next. I may use this as a warmup also. Thanks for showing this to us and breaking it down.good stuff as always

Great lesson. When I was younger I began also to practice playing quintuplets (5)and sevens and even nines to complete the pyramid. This would then be a cycle of: quarter notes, quarter note triplets, eight notes, eight note triplets, sixteenth notes,* five notes, sixteenth note triplets, *seven notes, thirty second note triplets, nine notes. Id play at a slower tempo of course because of the nines at the end. For those unfamiliar: fives , sevens and nines are when you play that number of notes to a quarter note. Just as you can play triplets ie three notes to a quarter, you can play other odd number subdivisions also. I think this great teacher here could do on this for advanced players , a video suggestion

Ima gonna practice this until I get it. : years ago I was in a bad wreck. After brain surgery’s an a lot of stuff, im back wanting to play again. My right side of my body just hesitates now. My brain is still telling me what to do. It’s just hitting every other hit fast but slowed down I can hit ever hit with the right hand. Everyone sais practice but 2 weeks in an it’s still the same
