I have an idea... Could you back the truck up in such a way that the hay elevator could rest on the back tail? Then you could unload straight from the truck instead of 2 steps. What a great anniversary gift!!
Make sure none of that toxic bee killer gets on your hay supply. The nice thing about wasps is that, if you can knock down their hive they will buzz around for a little while, but then they will abandon the hive and the area.
I hate wasps too. When we moved into our house 10 years ago, there was a huge nest on our covered patio. We had to spray for 2 days. We then covered the hole they were coming out of witj critter wire doubled and off set. Then sprayed again. they tried 2 more times to build a nest on our patio but we took care of those right away. They no longer come around here now.
Wasps are more aggressive than many other stinging things. Good use of the tractor there. Working smarter. Just seeing Kay moving all of those bales backhanded made my hands hurt.
Soapy water works very well on wasps also .. Husband and sons would put soapy water in soda 20 oz soda bottles put a hole in the cap . And spray on the wasps ..
Had a large wasp nest in my compost earlier this year. Watched a few TH-cam channels, bought the stuff reccomended. Went to deal with the pesky creatures. Got stung .... Twice! And the stuff didn't work. All in all cost me over £100. Cos I had to get professionals in. Took him more time to put his special jacket and hold on than it took to deal with nest. Still it worked so money well spent ( on him, at least)
You could try to put the elevator in the trailer. Would save you having to lift the bale twice to get it on the elevator. Thats how we did it at my Dad's farm, of course our trailer was much larger with more room to put the trailer.
We are struggling with the bald faced hornets and wasps here also. Very aggressive bees! The hotter the temps out the more aggressive they are. Glad they didn't get ya.
Gosh good thing you didn’t get stung. I was stung 13 times by yellow jackets in July. Come out of the ground. I literally thought I was dying that night. They hurt for 14 hours.
I hate wasps too. Best method? SHOP VAC! I used the two solid section pipe extension and poked it right into a 1 foot diameter nest and it disappeared in about 2 seconds. Quite amazing. Then I left the tube sucking away near the entrance for another 15-30 minutes, that they used ( between the roof timber on our back balcony) Smaller nests like yours are gone in a second or so. All the adults flying around too. Shoot a 1 second puff of your insecticide into the sucking end, or diatomaceous earth 100 grams. A day later, CAREFULLY and Quickly remove shop vac top, place a big black garbage bag over the open shop vac ( wasps are dead or groggy) and flip and pour the Shop Vac contents into the bag . I must have had 10 smaller populated wasp nests in that balcony.
Great gift. Ours was 40 ft or 45 ft long. Grandpa & I picked it up off the hay wagon and put it in the barn hay loft. I waa 7 at the time. You should be able to put it out the loft doors with two grown adults. It also looks like its only a 30 ft'er. Your son is doing a good job vlogging, keep it up and he'll be a pro! I usually find the wasp/ bees nests AFTER I get stung, LOL.
Glad you weren't stung! I've always heard that you should wait until night time to spray hives after all the bees have returned. That way they don't just keep coming back to find the hive and have them lingering for hrs afterwards. Looks like yer critters will be eatin happy for the winter!
Do you think Hay Bale prices are going to skyrocket because of all the flooding we had this year? There will be LOT LESS next year. I hope it doesn't flood again NEXT year, or bales will be REALLY scarce the following year!
I hate wasps bad lol
Keeping It Dutch I thought it was snakes😂😂😂
what a nice barn you have and love the chicks
Wasps have been so bad this year‼️‼️‼️
Hubby is extremely allergic to their venom.
Hi DUTCH 😊
A Dutch sighting outside of Oklahoma!
Love how much your little bud knows about his birds

Slice of Heaven Homestead, that tailgate on the truck is very slippery, making it very dangerous to try that.
Good point. It was just a thought... Ratchet straps could work.
*Happy Fall! Many Blessings! 🍁🍁 Enjoyed the video!*
Your son is great at sharing on cam. Your eldest daughter does a ripping job of it too. What nice and clever kids.

Mom give that boy a couple of years and you may never have to touch hay again.☺

Oh no- I couldn't tell at first. I think you try to get rid of wasps after dark. That could be yellow jackets I am thinking of.
I can’t do anything without my gloves on!

I hope you discard that hay closest to the door when you sprayed.
Blueberries? They look barred. I might have missed a video discussing breed. ☺
To be honest, I thought you where just gonna lift the hay up to the loft with the tractor lol

You're so brave. There's so way I would spray them until after nightfall
Ughhhh! We’ve had a lot of wasps this year! My husband hates wasps and kills them immediately! They don’t bother me.
Awesome video, your chicks look great!
Yalls son is growing so tall and he is great with his chicks 🐥

Jo Jo in VT
Show video about ducks. do you still have them? I have ducks too.
Wass hate hot sauce and soap is a good spray and maybe a little water
Smart boy using gloves!
Why didn't you back the truck up so you could drop them directly onto the hay elevator?
That music tho😂😂😂
Be careful of getting that poison on the hay, I would think that wouldn’t be good for yourcritters
Where are your gloves woman?
The Lord was watching out for you today wasn’t he?
