I'm always amazed by the sheer range of sounds out of the uillean pipes and the coordination required to play them

gorgeous playing! absolutely masterful and the staccato is the sharpest I think I have ever heard anyone play, just so crisp. I so wish that folks knew how to mic up Uillean pipes, the chanter is bold as brass but almost no drones can be heard on the recording.

Yeaaahhhhhhhh! There he goes!!! Go on with it!!! (shouting just like During Seamus Ennis' performance, in lieu of the audience here, who is honestly probably just dumbstruck by how awesome this is.) Great stuff Sean.

Sean, thanks for posting this video. I first heard Seamus Ennis play on the Album “Irish Pipe and Tin Whistle Songs, later published on CD as the Bonny Bunch of Roses, 40 years ago. Still have the vinyl album. The First House in Connaught was electrifying, and the humor in The Devil and the Farmer’s Wife is STILL funny. The interplay between pipes, his “droning” voice on the verses and lilting chorus on The Praties are Dug and The Frost is All Over is just marvelous. I must have four or five different versions of Bucks on various albums, all different, and love them all, even the one that appears to have been recorded on a lacquer cylinder and sounds like it is being played under water.

Awesome Sean!! Seamus lives in our hearts forever thx for raising him up! His version of the ‘lark in the morning’ is the end of all music!
