Of 179 OBC Communities, 118 Belong To Muslims: BJP's Sanju Verma After Calcutta HC's Big Decision

In a massive setback to West Bengal government-led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Calcutta High Court struck down several classes of Other Backward Classes (OBC) under an Act of 2012 of West Bengal for reservation of vacancies in services and posts in the state, finding these illegal. Speaking on Times Now's special show The Newshour Debate, BJP leader Sanju Verma said, "Hansraj Ahir (Chairperson of NCBC) stated that 'prior to 2011, there were 108 communities classified as OBCs in West Bengal, out of which 55 belonged to Hindus & 53 to Muslims'. However today out of 179 OBC communities, 118 belong to Muslims." Watch full video.
