Yeah, I blew up at some guys that were using 180'd blasters firing FVJ's at a public HvZ game involving small kids. So not only were the blasters way, way over powered for the event but they were going to be shooting them at kids at point blank range. I sneaked up on them and tagged them out and in retaliation they unloaded on me at point blank range. I had welts for a week. Yet, apparently I was the jerk for yelling at them...
if you spend your drum mags and move to your smaller mags from the pouch, where do your drum mags go? surely they dont fit in the same mag holding pouch securely? if you ever have to redo the machete sleeve, you might put some sort of guard onto the machete and cut off a lot of extra fabric from the sleeve. you would be able to have the machete hang through the partial sheath, and the guard would keep it from falling through. or you could attach some manner of velcro strap to catch the handle in a similar way.
In my personal Nerf philosophy, flywheel powered, magazine-fed blasters are too powerful to be considered "secondary". To me at least, a "secondary" blaster can be nearly any blaster, so long as it does not use flywheels*, can fit in a holster**, and (usually) is not magazine-fed. However, any blaster that fits at least two of these criteria can be considered a "secondary". *The Barricade is one of the few exceptions, as it's a flywheel blaster that does not accept magazines, and is capable of fitting in a holster. **Until now, I'd never seen a holster that can hold a Stryfe with the magazine attached. I'm a rather inexperienced Nerfer, and your videos have provided me with invaluable advice (and some AMAZING inspiration!). Conclusion: It all depends on the type of Nerf game you play, the associated game rules, and of course, your preferences. (In my experience, the Stryfe was always a primary, but that's just my opinion.)
The difference between Primary and Secondary has nothing to do with power. It is simply a matter of which weapon do you use first and which do you use second. The weapon you start with is your Primary. The weapon you switch to when that one is out of ammo, jams, is disabled, or is otherwise no longer the best option, is your secondary. Now, yes, usually your secondary is less powerful as you would usually want to start with the most powerful option but this is neither required nor always the case. You might start with a Caliburn for the range but switch to a heavily modded Rapidstrike once things get closer. In this case the Rapidstrike is your secondary. In HvZ I start with EIR (my heavily modified Stampede) because it is very reliable but once the horde closes in I will often switch to my Stryfes because I can wield two at once, thus allowing me to tag multiple targets at the same time. Thus they are very clearly secondaries.

I like functional mods as well as cosmetic mods. People have made some absolutely gorgeous cosmetic mods and I want to do more of the same. I also like mods that add functionality. That allow you to fire a different type of ammo or extra long range. Foregrips that fire, under-slung integrations, that sort of thing. I am less impressed with super high performance. Flywheels that shoot so hard they hurt or fire so fast they empty a mag in a blink of an eye. However, this bias is due entirely to the style of games I have played up to now. HvZ and Nerf Wars full of little kids. In my experience power and fire rate are not as important as reliable controlled fire in HvZ. And blasters that hurt should never be used around children. However, I am getting into more adult Nerf Wars now so I am seriously looking into high end flywheel mods.
Just going back to these vids, I remember when I was like 12 I saw this video come out and I felt the need to make a very makeshift nerf bag that I only used twice, but it was still very useful
Probably because the shape makes them hard to carry in a vest. Straight mags carry better. Also, all drums tend to feed a little too slow for high speed full auto. I use them is semi auto blasters so it is not an issue. Just my guesses though.
Exactly. Straight mags are easier to carry, and better for high powered Blasters. Personally i like the 18drums a ton but outside of the USA they are much harder to come by. In Germany you dont find that many and when you do they have seen haevy use and dont feed that well and need a spring replacement. Nice gear and very informative videos Chaylo. I like them very much.
I think you should add a bipod pouch or something so that, if you need to shoot something from further away than usual, you can have slightly more stability.

Those are so large they typically are attached to a baldric rather than a belt. I have a friend who has an excellent greatsword that he made a back scabbard for based on a design I sent him.
I know Longswords where carried on waist belts. My machete is the length of a standard longsword. Even bastards swords could be if worn on an angle. But I have never seen, nor can I imagine, a greatsword being worn on a belt. However, we may be using different definitions of greatsword. I am referring to Zweihanders which were usually close to 6ft long, way too long to be worn on a belt on the waist. What are you refrering to when you say greatsword?

Alright. If you used all of your things (chest rig, battle belt, and all of your stuff) how much ammo could you carry? With all of your guns fully loaded, with whatever type of mag you use for them. At least 500 shots, right?
There are tons of things I have not done yet. Which is why this hobby is so much fun! If I ever get around to building power armor I plan to have dual shoulder mounted turrets. As well as a back mounted mortar.
to make the guns more symmetrical you should modify the right drum to be able to be inserted backwards and fit better. just cut a hole for the magazine catch and dremel out the bit next to the top that keeps it from being inserted backwards. just an idea.
Not all that much. It is mostly cloth, plastic and foam after all. Certainly nowhere near as heavy as a real soldiers loadout or my steel armor. This question has come up a few times so I may pick up a scale at Goodwill and find out.

No no, we did not found Condor (Gods I only wish I founded Condor). We started a Private Security company and one of our members became a distributor for Condor. As in he resells their product. That is why we have some much Condor gear.
I am not actually sure of the brand. They are a cheap, slightly harder tipped dart that I get by the 1000 out of Hong Kong. Well not including my battle pack (because I'm not truly sure how much it holds) I usually run: 7x 18rd straight mags (6 in pouches and 1 in the blaster) 2x 18rd drum mags 2x 12rd straight mags 7rd Hammershot 2rd Doublestrike 10rd Speedswarm (shoulder blaster) 6rd Absolver 4x Demolisher Rockets 2x Foam Grenades And a drop pouch with around 100 loose darts If it is a long mission I will swap the 18rd drums for 25rd drums and the first 18rd straight for a 35rd drum. Plus the battle pack.
I have never used one so I cannot give a particularly informed answer. Unmodded the ammo cap is a bit low and the mags are a bit more cumbersome to change than is say a Stryfe or a Rapidstrike. I have plans in my head for a modded Zeus with a ammo tube that runs to a backpack. It has been done already and the result is the highest capacity Nerf blaster that I know of. That would be an amazing HvZ primary!
The barricade design without a stock would fit in the drop pouch, but I would like to make a MOLLE compatible holster specifically for it. Good idea, thanks!
Depends on the rules. But given that my entire loadout has been tailored for HvZ and not PvP Nerf Wars my money would NOT be on me. I am slowly working on a Nerf War loadout that will be very very different from my current one. Give me a few months and I might have a fighting chance...
Mr. Nathan and I have discussed EIR vs Hellhound. EIR is more versatile but Hellhound is just so damn pretty! And that Dual LiPo system. We both very much admire the other's blaster. I plan to steal his idea and add muzzle flash to EIR.
Yeah, it ended up more severe than I intended. But I actually really like it because it is great for hooking things like weapons and limps and such. If I make another one I plan to make it much less curved.
Absolutely it would. Which is why I like all things modular. I can add and remove items from the belt as needed. If I am in a situation where I need more mobility I remove the machete sheath entirely. WSU HvZ does not allow melee at all so I remove both melee weapons. Afterworlds is very melee heavy so I bring both melee but ditch the Stryfe holsters. It all depends on the situation. I almost never wear it with all these items on it at the same time, that would be very cumbersome. The only items that never come off are the drop pouch and the cup holder. Make sense?
I have no desire to as I am NOT a katana fanboy (give me a good saber or bastard sword any day) but if I do paint a mask to look like DeathStroke I would pretty much have to just to fit the character. It would pain me though...
Captain Xavier is the handle I use in pretty much every game or system I play in. From Medieval recreation to HvZ to Afterworlds to Video games. There are people who have known me to 15 years and still don't know my real name. There are some who know my real name and still call me Xavier. And I realized I would rather keep my real name at least a little private.
Yeah, those are some of the big names. And we all have very different styles and philosophies and as such there has been some disagreements in the past. We are also spread all over the country. All this for nerf? When I was a little kid, I just put stuff in my pockets and I had no issues. This stuff is a bit excessive. If you played airsoft or paintball, then I think it would be a bit different.
The exclusiveness is the point. I play NPCs in most of the NErfing I do so the whole point is to add color and absurdity to the games. Also, why would it be any different in Airsoft or Paintball? It would still be excessive as those are also just toys.
Captain Xavier I did not mean it as a kind of insult to nerf. I just could see the practicality of it for airsoft and paintball when you are focused on realism and functionality. I just think it would be a little less useful in nerf when you are dealing with guns that shoot at a shorter distance and do not require much to function. In airsoft you need batteries, bbs, flashlights, co2, allen wrenches, a multitool, and a few other things. That requires a lot of space, and airsoft hurts. That means you usually have a plate carrier. Idk, it was just my thoughts. Cool belt kit though.
Clearly have no idea how I play Nerf. Allow me to explain: I assume you are picture the standard Nerf Wars in a park where each round is maybe 10 minutes and you just run around and shoot at each other. And for that, yes, this would be absurd and I don't wear all this gear. That is a beauty of a modular system. I can only wear the parts I need for the game I am playing. These videos show everything that could possibly be on the rig, not what I actually wear because what I wear changes in every situation. In HvZ me and my men play NPCs. Our entire purpose is to add realism to make the game more fun for the players. We play a variety of roles. From Professional Zombie Hunters to Evil Human Raiders. In one game we played Firefly style "Reavers." The gear adds to the game. It also attracts interest and helps the game grow. Our involvement is primarily during the 1 hour missions that are run in the evening. There are no breaks and we are not allowed to reuse ammo. As for the gear itself. 3 of the 6 blasters I carry use batteries. I carry upwards of 500 darts on long missions (which take up way more room that either Airsoft BBs or Paint balls), I also carry tools because blaster jam or need repairs. Most HvZ missions are in the evening or at night thus I also carry flashlights so we can find darts once the mission is over. In the more complicated missions special ammo types are needed so I have pouches for that. I have pouches for carrying mission objectives as well as a number of tools or gadgets like motion detector traps and signal lights. And that is just HvZ. The other game I use all this for is a Post-Apocalypic LARP where realism is the entire goal. And similarly I use a variety of gear. That game is full immersion 24/7 for 3 days and is played well into the night, in all kinds of weather. You get out of any hobby what you put into it. I go all out because I enjoy it and it encourages other players to get into it more and thus have more fun. Comments like yours are the worst kind of comments because they belittle other peoples enjoyment of their hobby. Why would you want to do that? Why would you discourage people from having fun in a safe hobby that can be enjoyed by anyone old enough to walk?
That is the cool thing about Nerf. Because it is far safer than Airsoft or Paintball (until you get to the crazy high end modded stuff) the options are limitless. And the mod potential is insane. Yes, you can mod Airsoft and Paintball but nothing like what you can do with Nerf. And you can play it in a public park with a bunch of little kids. A friend and I used to run a weekly Nerf War at a local park that drew in 30-40 local kids. I provided all the blasters and we played for hours on this huge wooden castle play ground. You could NEVER do that with Airsoft or Paintball. I didn't use all my gear for that either, of course, ...except when they all begged me too so they could gang up on me. I usually put of a good fight...

For long missions I use 25rd Drums which are symmetrical.
What primer and other paints do you use for your orange color I have seen on your sledge fire and double strike?

What brand of ammo do you use? And how many mags do you carry in total on your full load out?
I am not actually sure of the brand. They are a cheap, slightly harder tipped dart that I get by the 1000 out of Hong Kong.
Well not including my battle pack (because I'm not truly sure how much it holds) I usually run:
7x 18rd straight mags (6 in pouches and 1 in the blaster)
2x 18rd drum mags
2x 12rd straight mags
7rd Hammershot
2rd Doublestrike
10rd Speedswarm (shoulder blaster)
6rd Absolver
4x Demolisher Rockets
2x Foam Grenades
And a drop pouch with around 100 loose darts
If it is a long mission I will swap the 18rd drums for 25rd drums and the first 18rd straight for a 35rd drum. Plus the battle pack.

What do you thing of the Zeus as a hvz primary a d would you ever consider modding one
I have never used one so I cannot give a particularly informed answer. Unmodded the ammo cap is a bit low and the mags are a bit more cumbersome to change than is say a Stryfe or a Rapidstrike. I have plans in my head for a modded Zeus with a ammo tube that runs to a backpack. It has been done already and the result is the highest capacity Nerf blaster that I know of. That would be an amazing HvZ primary!

Depends on the rules. But given that my entire loadout has been tailored for HvZ and not PvP Nerf Wars my money would NOT be on me. I am slowly working on a Nerf War loadout that will be very very different from my current one. Give me a few months and I might have a fighting chance...

Yeah, it ended up more severe than I intended. But I actually really like it because it is great for hooking things like weapons and limps and such. If I make another one I plan to make it much less curved.

Absolutely it would. Which is why I like all things modular. I can add and remove items from the belt as needed. If I am in a situation where I need more mobility I remove the machete sheath entirely. WSU HvZ does not allow melee at all so I remove both melee weapons. Afterworlds is very melee heavy so I bring both melee but ditch the Stryfe holsters. It all depends on the situation. I almost never wear it with all these items on it at the same time, that would be very cumbersome. The only items that never come off are the drop pouch and the cup holder. Make sense?

I have no desire to as I am NOT a katana fanboy (give me a good saber or bastard sword any day) but if I do paint a mask to look like DeathStroke I would pretty much have to just to fit the character. It would pain me though...

Captain Xavier is the handle I use in pretty much every game or system I play in. From Medieval recreation to HvZ to Afterworlds to Video games. There are people who have known me to 15 years and still don't know my real name. There are some who know my real name and still call me Xavier. And I realized I would rather keep my real name at least a little private.

Yeah, those are some of the big names. And we all have very different styles and philosophies and as such there has been some disagreements in the past. We are also spread all over the country. Walcom and I live close to each other. We are also close to the Nerf Curator, Out-of-Darts, and Beret. I highly recommend you watch them too. We have lots of crossover.

All this for nerf? When I was a little kid, I just put stuff in my pockets and I had no issues. This stuff is a bit excessive. If you played airsoft or paintball, then I think it would be a bit different.
The exclusiveness is the point. I play NPCs in most of the NErfing I do so the whole point is to add color and absurdity to the games. Also, why would it be any different in Airsoft or Paintball? It would still be excessive as those are also just toys.
Captain Xavier I did not mean it as a kind of insult to nerf. I just could see the practicality of it for airsoft and paintball when you are focused on realism and functionality. I just think it would be a little less useful in nerf when you are dealing with guns that shoot at a shorter distance and do not require much to function. In airsoft you need batteries, bbs, flashlights, co2, allen wrenches, a multitool, and a few other things. That requires a lot of space, and airsoft hurts. That means you usually have a plate carrier. Idk, it was just my thoughts. Cool belt kit though.
Clearly have no idea how I play Nerf. Allow me to explain:
I assume you are picture the standard Nerf Wars in a park where each round is maybe 10 minutes and you just run around and shoot at each other. And for that, yes, this would be absurd and I don't wear all this gear. That is a beauty of a modular system. I can only wear the parts I need for the game I am playing. These videos show everything that could possibly be on the rig, not what I actually wear because what I wear changes in every situation.
In HvZ me and my men play NPCs. Our entire purpose is to add realism to make the game more fun for the players. We play a variety of roles. From Professional Zombie Hunters to Evil Human Raiders. In one game we played Firefly style "Reavers." The gear adds to the game. It also attracts interest and helps the game grow. Our involvement is primarily during the 1 hour missions that are run in the evening. There are no breaks and we are not allowed to reuse ammo.
As for the gear itself. 3 of the 6 blasters I carry use batteries. I carry upwards of 500 darts on long missions (which take up way more room that either Airsoft BBs or Paint balls), I also carry tools because blaster jam or need repairs. Most HvZ missions are in the evening or at night thus I also carry flashlights so we can find darts once the mission is over. In the more complicated missions special ammo types are needed so I have pouches for that. I have pouches for carrying mission objectives as well as a number of tools or gadgets like motion detector traps and signal lights.
And that is just HvZ. The other game I use all this for is a Post-Apocalypic LARP where realism is the entire goal. And similarly I use a variety of gear. That game is full immersion 24/7 for 3 days and is played well into the night, in all kinds of weather.
You get out of any hobby what you put into it. I go all out because I enjoy it and it encourages other players to get into it more and thus have more fun. Comments like yours are the worst kind of comments because they belittle other peoples enjoyment of their hobby. Why would you want to do that? Why would you discourage people from having fun in a safe hobby that can be enjoyed by anyone old enough to walk?

That is the cool thing about Nerf. Because it is far safer than Airsoft or Paintball (until you get to the crazy high end modded stuff) the options are limitless. And the mod potential is insane. Yes, you can mod Airsoft and Paintball but nothing like what you can do with Nerf. And you can play it in a public park with a bunch of little kids. A friend and I used to run a weekly Nerf War at a local park that drew in 30-40 local kids. I provided all the blasters and we played for hours on this huge wooden castle play ground. You could NEVER do that with Airsoft or Paintball. I didn't use all my gear for that either, of course, ...except when they all begged me too so they could gang up on me. I usually put of a good fight...
