I understand the neighbors frustration with closing down the park for 50-60 days during Summer 🌞... Its the only robust green space as they are a few miles from lakefront.. 😎
Festivals in city parks are always great for city dwellers because they're usually easy to get to, but I can understand the frustration of people that live walking distance to those parks. For huge parts of your local park to not be accessible to the actual local community for almost 60 days during the summer. However the move to Bridgeview may mean better parking for concert goers, I remember going to a music festival in Union Park and having to park like six or seven blocks from the park in a parking garage.
I live in Humboldt Park, where Riot Fest used to be, and personally I loved having it in my neighborhood. I do understand to some extent why people might not be too keen on having a music festival in their city park, but at the same time, Douglass Park as a neighborhood greatly benefits from all the extra business that gets brought in each year.
The big FU to Chicago and the revenue 😂 so glad. I might go to my first riot fest yet. I never went because it's in Chicago so this is huge for us Chicago haters
