Just the very idea of an MP application form is top notch satire.

      "Now then, criminal record?"
      "Absolutely not"
"Oh come on Baldrick. You're going to be an MP for god's sake. I'll just put fraud and sexual deviancy"
      Stone cold classic.

Is this something thats an inside joke for the British.
Do MPs have criminal records and everyone is completely okay with it?

@@whoknowswhocares885 There is a long sullied history of MPs committing fraud (left wing MPs) and various perversions (right wing MPs). And no, noone is ok with it. But we do make fun of them.

2:34 I love the defeated face and the way Blackadder says “What?” He’s thinking to himself, “I can’t believe I had to hear that… I can’t believe I live in a ridiculous world where I am able to hear that… I have to ask… why do I have to ask?… you can’t hear something like that and not ask… OMG I’m going to have to waste my breath to ask…”

"Window tax" sounds absurd here, but it was a real thing in Britain in centuries past. The state realized that one way to get more money was to tax glass windows, of which the rich had installed a great many in their houses, partly to show off their ability to buy so much of something as expensive as window glass. Window tax, which lasted from 1695 to 1841, is one of the main reasons why some fancy old houses in Britain have false windows painted where real windows used to exist or at least would fit the design: homeowners were reducing their tax liability.
