This is one of my most anticipated lilsimsie videos ever! I asked for this a few weeks ago, you probably didn't get the idea from my comment but I feel heard. The lot trait should be Breeding Ground for this to work most effectively, maybe you did this and I just never noticed. I fairly often breed my pets in game (particularly early game when an extra 300 makes a big difference). I wish we were able to breed the rats and hamsters from My First Pet Stuff. I think an equestrian pack is one of my most anticipated packs, I'd love it for the next Game Pack.
I want an equestrian pack really badly, too. I had a lot of qualms with the Sims 3's horses but they scratched an itch. I was kind of disappointed when Cottage Living came out and there were no horses.
@@ajocheese - I did it as my sims main income for a while but with cats and it was very successful but then she turned her life around and became a vet for the greater good. I guess I also made her fish a lot and was level 10 so she made some good money there too.
Registered breeders are not inherently bad, they hardly make proper profit off the pups too and it's usually a side hustle, because so much money goes into vet bills, best types of food, travelling to other breeders etc. It's the crappy dog factories and pet shops that create problems, which are mostly an US thing (you never could buy a puppy or a kitten in a pet store in my country, now you can't even buy hamsters etc. - you can only get critters from registered breeders). There's no need to demonize it or talk about it as if it's abuse, especially in a video game.
Stanley sounds like such a unique character that he could be in an actual sims game as a townie, I've only watched this episode (found it on my recommended page), but he does feel like an absolute legend.
While the "Adopt dont shop" - offensive has a really good background (animal shelters, responsible breeders,...) is very well meaning. It does NOT mean, that you shouldn't buy an animal from a RESPONSIBLE breeder. As in: a breeder that takes good care, vaccinates their animals, checks your background and living condition to be suitable for whatever animal you are looking for etc. "Adopt dont shop" means: DO NOT buy from petstores, DO NOT buy from random ebay offers etc. If adopt dont shop stops you from buying an animal from the pet store: awesome. But if it really needs to be a puppy/kitten/animal you most likely wont get at the shelter, seek out responsible breeders. And on a more personal note, if you choose to "shop" responsibly, make sure the breed you get isnt suffering by being bred into hell by unrealistic and damaging "standards" on those animals. pugs that cant breathe, suffer. german sheperds with hips like frogs, suffer. persians that cant see, suffer. guinea pigs without hair, suffer. Adopt, or shop responsibly. Dont shop impulsively. dont shop for looks. And if you want an animal but cant afford one responsibly - you are not entiteld to have a pet. The Animal is entiteld to you having the time and money to support it, keep it happy and healthy and enable an enriching, healthy life. You cant do that? DONT GET A PET. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
There's also shelters that buy from puppy mills (which I found out after things came out about the "rescue" I adopted my girl from) and just not-good shelters. Research shelters. Research breeders. A well bred dog is an amazing thing. Adopting is great, but it's a real grab bag of what to expect. Also, the "spay or neuter your pets" - if you have a way to keep them from breeding, studies are coming out that shows that keeping a male dog intact/intact longer actually lowers the chance of behavior issues.
i was just recently at my shelter that had two mommas, one gave birth to 9 pups, the other gave birth to 11. they are both looking for fosters cause the loud shelter is a stressful place to raise pups in
@@rosameryrojas-delcerro1059 Hey! There absolutely are responsible, ETHICAL dog breeders out there! However, the general public tends to not know what to look for when it comes to getting a dog from a breeder. Firstly, if you’re buying from a breeder it should be for a good reason. For example, “I need a Cattle Dog to herd my cattle on the farm”, “I want to show dogs”, or “I want a wellbred, purebred dog.” Now, when people say they want a wellbred, purebred dog, they are not hating on shelter dogs! They simply mean they want a dog that is genetically predictable and overall healthy. Purebred, wellbred dogs are bred to conform to the original standards of the established breed in not only bone structure and “look”, but also personality and drive. All dog breeds also exist for a specific purpose, such as Border Collies being herding dogs for farm owners or Anatolian Shepherds being livestock guardian dogs. Rounding back to ethical breeders - they breed to BETTER the existing population of the breed. These ethical breeders health test their dogs and file the results publicly. Now, here’s the showstopper: Ethical breeders require vetting and contracts to own one of their puppies! By vetting, I mean that the breeder interviews YOU just as much as you should them. They make sure that each and every one of their puppy parents are fully prepared and have all the tools necessary to own one of their dogs. If not, you don’t get a puppy. Secondly, every ethical breeder includes a section stating: “If under any circumstances, you can no longer care for the dog, you WILL return them to me.” This means that no ethical breeder allows their dogs to end up in shelters. Breeders usually ensure this in a multitude of ways which I won’t go into explaining. With everything said, buying from a responsible breeder who breeds to better the dogs and not for profit, is completely ethical and a good option outside of adopting BECAUSE they do not contribute to the shelter populations WHATSOEVER. There are many reasons to why people may want a wellbred, purebred dog instead of a shelter dog, but that doesn’t mean that they hate shelter dogs! A good amount of ethical dog owners have both purebreds and shelter pups or have only had shelter dogs in the past. If you have any questions then please ask! I didn’t mean this in any sort of rude way, just wanted to put out some of what I’ve learned!
This! As a breeder the adopt don't shop mentality is so harmful. A rescue dog isn't for everyone. Each of my dogs have 10k invested in their health testing and titles. My puppies have predicted temperaments and I can place them into homes perfect for them. And a good breeders puppies will never end up in a shelter because of contracts.
The thing that bothers me about putting puppies & kittens up for adoption in TS4 is that if you switch to another household, it will show you the puppy/kitten you just sold/gave up for adoption... but it's not the same pet. It looks the same and has the same name, but they have totally different traits and it won't show your pets as their parents in the pets family tree. (The same happens for any pet you adopt- try bringing an animal you didn't adopt back multiple times from the adoption option- they'll have different traits and they won't remember you.) Ever since I learned that, I can't bring myself to use the in-game version and just adopt out any extra kittens and puppies through household management.
Stanley, immortal god that after millenia of living got bored of the mondane immortal life and wealth he accumulated over years, he found excitement in getting rid of all his wealth and seeking thrills in challenges where he seeks to earn the most money he can in wierd and odd ways. Legends myths and tales of Stanley travel wide and far, everybody knows him, everybody dreads the day when he'll end up in their town-
I just finished the 100 Kitten challenge and had a pretty good time. They were super adorable! Edit to add that I had to just move the cats into other households because I couldn’t handle the sad Moodlets from putting them up for adoption.
would like to point out that ‘adopt don’t shop’ sounds good on the surface if you generalise but it’s outdated and as long as you know what you’re doing and research breeders properly then going to reputable breeders is not bad and in some situations is a better option. this depends on your situation, experience, and the animal want to bring into your home
Right! Esp since sooo many shelters are lowkey racist/prejudiced against poor folks. Like I knew someone who tried to adopt from shelters but whenever she put down her address (in an impoverished brown neighborhood) she would be rejected for no reason. Also the whole adopt don’t shop! and neuter your pets! Is kinda counterintuitive. Like if everyone adopts and everyone neuters their dogs then there will eventually be no more dogs....... like obviously if you’re not gonna be a safe breeder or want puppies then neuter your pets but its just kinda dumb
@@avocato8156 I completely agree with you on everything you said, especially about neutering/spaying. Personally, I'm against that because it's unnatural. It's natural for animals to breed, so taking that option away from them is very cruel to me. I feel like if you're encouraging adoption and spaying/neutering in the same sentence, then you're contradicting yourself. You can't say you care about animals and then say that their right to naturally have puppies/kittens naturally should be taken away from them. I feel that is hypocritical.
@@BeautyMonster1000 having babies is a natural urge but it can be very dangerous and creates possibly unhealthy, unwanted animals if done accidentally. plus it reduces the risk of cancer
*Adopt and buy responsibility.* There are thousands of reasons not to Adopt as it's not good for every family but if you have the knowledge, time and money Adoption is an amazing choice.
*Here are the reasons why one might buy instead of Adopt.* 1 *a clean slate.* They don't have to have to deal with a pretentally traumatized, badly socialized/trained dog who has behavioral issues. To not have to accidentally find an tick/snap especially when they have children. 2 *knowing their health.* It's a huge misconception that mutts or mixes are healthier than purbreds, that is more often than not incorrect as reputable breeders do health test before breeding. And by knowing the breed you'll know what they're prone to and how long they'll live. 3 *fits into life style.* By knowing their energy level, prey drive, shed level and instincts it helps them better match that dog into their lifestyle. If a lazy large family goes to a rescue and adopts a dog they don't know is a herding mix that will cause alot of disaster. 4 *adoption doesn't solve backyardbreeders.* Backyardbreeders use shelters for dogs they don't sell and by no longer buying dogs from any breeder would only cause there to be less dogs in the world, the last remaining dogs to only be mutts and horribleily bred. So all the dogs that were once breed for amazing predictable characteristics would disappear and you'll get dogs with unpredictable instincts and health.
despite living in the worst conditions possible, your sim is still constantly happy, meanwhile my sim hates every second of their existence and eats cereal for 8 hours to skip work or starve
Hearing “being landlord doesn’t get you money” made me think - is it a new video? And no, it’s 2 years ago, Kayla knew that already about For Rent pack haha
In Sims3 you can get rich quick so easy by being a horse girl 😂 I would make two horses with good traits in CAS then train the hell out of them for more good traits and master the horse skills. I would then offer my male horse as “stud” at the equestrian center for a couple thousand and continue to breed and have foals, train them, raise and sell them. My sims would be rolling in dough!!
I once played a sim game where I created long haired Dachshunds and bred them 🥰 I kept the puppies until they grew up to see if they would be long haired and then found townies to ‘adopt’ them - it was definitely adorable
It's only unethical if you have a conscience. I do this often with Golden Retrievers, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls (weird), Labradors and Corgis. There is money in this! My sims are professional breeders.
Kayla: was still in high school in 2017. Me: In 2017 I was already out of high school longer than I was actually in high school. But still 4 years of Cats and Dogs. Crazy. That's one of the few packs I still play with today.
in solution for Stanley taking baths when he's not allowed to, if you click on the door, you can select 'lock for specific sim' and select Stanley and he won't be able to enter the room, you can also do this on computers :)
This seems like standard reputable breeder amounts. Females typically go for more, since they are usually the ones abused by puppy mills. You'd be lucky to break even on a litter in real life if you're breeding correctly.
Not 100% true.. Puppy mills should be out of the equation. Depending on the breed, you'll earn more. My mom bred mastiffs for 20 years, and she held many champions and was known all around the world. She stopped breeding mastiffs after we lost one, and it was also just too much. Now she breeds french bulldogs, and our cheapest goes for $2500 for standard color. She is still known all over the breeding world. Most breeders are safe but any puppies not from a breeder or a shelter are from puppy mills and should not be purchased.
Reputable ethical breeders (who usually strive for the betterment of the breed through ethical breeding) usually charge a lot more, into the 8-900s and even into the thousands per pup, but that's for two reasons, usually: 1.) to deter anyone who would be bad owners/neglectful from buying (the kinda people willing to drop a grand on a dog are definitely going to be more likely to properly care for it), and 2.) to offset the cost of sustaining good quality breeding, such as multiple vet visits, shots, high quality food, grooming, puppy socialization, training, etc. Backyard breeders also can make good money too, unfortunately; I know this lady who breeds her mangy, fleabag (literally) little dogs that she doesn't take care of then turns around and sells the puppies as "designer puppies" for almost a grand each. It's deplorable.
@@lesbihonesther I don't consider show dog breeders reputable. The dog clubs, and the shows that support that, can be just as damaging to dogs' mental and physical health. My mother was also a Mastiff breeder. That taught me way more about breeding politics than I ever wanted to know.

I want an equestrian pack really badly, too. I had a lot of qualms with the Sims 3's horses but they scratched an itch. I was kind of disappointed when Cottage Living came out and there were no horses.
I really want a tier list of all the ways to get rich, ranked on their efficiency👀
“A roof, not a room” genuinely the realest Sims 4 advice ever
you know if you miss the pet you sold, you can always go to the adoption center and readopt them.
Ive been wondering this for so long! I always got too sad to really try it
same! i just hate giving away the puppies lol
@@ajocheese - I did it as my sims main income for a while but with cats and it was very successful but then she turned her life around and became a vet for the greater good. I guess I also made her fish a lot and was level 10 so she made some good money there too.

Frogs in the Sims4: “Am I a joke to you?”
Kayla yelling "THIS IS SO DUMB!" at gendered toilets will never not be a mood
hey kayla! just wanted to say, your videos always make me smile and i hope you have a wonderful day
Stanley sounds like such a unique character that he could be in an actual sims game as a townie, I've only watched this episode (found it on my recommended page), but he does feel like an absolute legend.
Always meet the mother
There's also shelters that buy from puppy mills (which I found out after things came out about the "rescue" I adopted my girl from) and just not-good shelters. Research shelters. Research breeders. A well bred dog is an amazing thing. Adopting is great, but it's a real grab bag of what to expect.
Also, the "spay or neuter your pets" - if you have a way to keep them from breeding, studies are coming out that shows that keeping a male dog intact/intact longer actually lowers the chance of behavior issues.
No such thing as a responsible breeder. Dogs die in shelters for every animal those people exploit the parents for.
i was just recently at my shelter that had two mommas, one gave birth to 9 pups, the other gave birth to 11. they are both looking for fosters cause the loud shelter is a stressful place to raise pups in
@@rosameryrojas-delcerro1059 Hey! There absolutely are responsible, ETHICAL dog breeders out there! However, the general public tends to not know what to look for when it comes to getting a dog from a breeder.
Firstly, if you’re buying from a breeder it should be for a good reason. For example, “I need a Cattle Dog to herd my cattle on the farm”, “I want to show dogs”, or “I want a wellbred, purebred dog.”
Now, when people say they want a wellbred, purebred dog, they are not hating on shelter dogs!
"To be fair, I didn't burn them, It was the sky."
The pricing is based on their traits and training
3:20 is still true since for rent is so glitchy 😂
Adopt and shop responsibly and ethically
Puppies can make you rich. Rich with abundance and the deepest satisfaction. Sign me tf up.
"ive never actually bred animals in the sims"
are frogs a joke to you kayla
I think you should have used the Dogs on the streets and keep the puppies to sell them for more once they grow up.
I think the price of puppies/kittens might be based on what traits they have when you sell them - some are more "valuable" than others?
Or whether it's a male or female puppy, irl, female puppies are more expensive bc you can use them to get more dogs
pleaseeee when its raining outside and you click "shower in rain" it also fixes your bladder need!! works everytime

Edit to add that I had to just move the cats into other households because I couldn’t handle the sad Moodlets from putting them up for adoption.
“Adopt don’t shop”
You still pay to adopt a dog. So techincally your still shopping
would like to point out that ‘adopt don’t shop’ sounds good on the surface if you generalise but it’s outdated and as long as you know what you’re doing and research breeders properly then going to reputable breeders is not bad and in some situations is a better option. this depends on your situation, experience, and the animal want to bring into your home
Like if everyone adopts and everyone neuters their dogs then there will eventually be no more dogs....... like obviously if you’re not gonna be a safe breeder or want puppies then neuter your pets but its just kinda dumb
this!!!

*Here are the reasons why one might buy instead of Adopt.*
1 *a clean slate.* They don't have to have to deal with a pretentally traumatized, badly socialized/trained dog who has behavioral issues.
This literally made me do a double take on the date… I thought I had imagined for rent being a new pack
"the most unethical yet" blackmail and necromancy are on the list
In Sims3 you can get rich quick so easy by being a horse girl 😂 I would make two horses with good traits in CAS then train the hell out of them for more good traits and master the horse skills. I would then offer my male horse as “stud” at the equestrian center for a couple thousand and continue to breed and have foals, train them, raise and sell them. My sims would be rolling in dough!!
I once played a sim game where I created long haired Dachshunds and bred them 🥰 I kept the puppies until they grew up to see if they would be long haired and then found townies to ‘adopt’ them - it was definitely adorable
You should do a rags to riches with the woodworking table
Lowkey we would love a Halloween themed Stanley special. Maybe with the Dark Chickens?

You should have your dog mate with a different breed for each generation on your next LP
in solution for Stanley taking baths when he's not allowed to, if you click on the door, you can select 'lock for specific sim' and select Stanley and he won't be able to enter the room, you can also do this on computers :)
@@strangeduckling you’re 100% correct
@@lesbihonesther I don't consider show dog breeders reputable. The dog clubs, and the shows that support that, can be just as damaging to dogs' mental and physical health. My mother was also a Mastiff breeder. That taught me way more about breeding politics than I ever wanted to know.
