Thanks for the lesson)) P.s. French is staying on my joke 😂 It’s a long joke I’ve made a long time ago but it keeps getting new “walks in”. So. German walks into a bar where God is giving out languages. “Well,” says God. “You can have this one but all spaces in between words are to be paid for.” German nods sternly and takes it but decides to save money by using less spaces. Then French walks into the bar, and God says, “Well, have too many left now, for you - I’ll make a discount! Half is free, you take one letter - you get one more for free!” So French thinks it’s a good deal and takes more letter than they wanted, and leaves either that. Then Serbian walks into this bar. God looks at what’s left and is a bit confused because French took so many vowels. “For you, the vowels are to be paid for while the consonants are free,” decides God. So Serbian leaves, Irish walks in but they like that’s it’s a bar and lose interest in the languages and God, so Irish leaves with “two letters make three sounds” but “five letters make one sound” and they couldn’t care less…
That's pretty much it! I guess it summarizes quite well these languages 🤣 And you're very welcome for the lesson Danni! Thanks for always putting a smile on my face with your comments ♥

At the beginning of the video, the mute e, you really do pronounce the e most of the time. Just listen to yourself. That's OK for me. I have noticed this by so many others. 1. In songs. E pronounced at the end of words with e or es endings if the next word begins with a consonant. E is often pronounced at the end of a sentence. It seems that pronouncing e in a song makes it sound traditional, like chanson, like 1940s, 1950s. 2. E is pronounced, at the end of words, in a classroom, for clarity, I am told ( On m'a dit ... ). For some reason, teachers, and I mean all teachers, pronounce a hard schwa e ( for clarity ). My problem is: How is it more clear to actually pronounce a so called mute e that is actually supposed to be mute ( not pronounced ) ? 3. Ending e is almost always pronounced in speach when the next word begins with a consonant. Sometimes not. There does not seem to be a rigorous grammatical law in French. Everyone can speak as they please. Pronounce e, don't pronounce e. And everyone is happy. Not so in German. Hoch Deutsch is rigorous, a tight standard language. A tight language for exact communication. In Germany Hoch Deutsch is taught in schools at all levels. All students learn Hoch Deutsch all their lives and speak it accurately. They are very often taught English at school. A majority of German people speak English ( American dialect ). I notice that you use IPA pronunciation transcription codes. Excellent! Most vlogs don't have any pronunciation guides. The IPA shows, correctly, the mute e is not pronounced. Des moules [de mul].
Hello Phillip! In French, there's only one vowel sound ([a], [i], [y], [u], [o], [ɔ], [e], [ɛ], [ə], [ø], [œ], [ɔ̃], [ɑ̃], [œ̃], [ɛ̃]) per syllable. Sometimes, the vowel sound can be accompanied by a semi-vowel ([j], [ɥ], [w]) in the same syllable. But there will never be another vowel sound in the same syllable. I think because I'm emphasizing the consonant sound, you think I'm pronouncing the E. But if I pronounced it, I'd have to add a syllable, because, as I said, there's only one vowel sound per syllable. In songs and poems, the final E can be pronounced to make rhymes. Similarly, the final E can be pronounced in certain regions of France. In this case, it is always pronounced [ə]. There's also another case in which the E will be pronounced, when there are 3 consonants together and it's not possible for us to say them. For example: à votrE santé (without pronouncing the E, there would be 3 consonants together, hence the usual pronunciation of the E). It's funny you should mention this, because I'm planning to make a video on the subject soon! I hope that's clear enough, but if it isn't, don't hesitate to ask more questions!
