Crash didn't abandon Coco...Cortex mutated her AFTER Crash escapes the castle.
That or they were both mutated, but Cortex didn’t bother to experiment on her until after Crash fell though that window.
Considering he spent Crash 1 running back to Cortex Castle, I think we can assume he rescued her at the same time he rescued Tawna.
Either way, Cortex was using that to gaslight her which is...well, it at least fits with him being evil.
@@enlongjones2394 I think you have the right of it, that both of them were exposed to the Evolv-o-Ray, but Cortex was more interested and fixated on making Crash his first general (him and Willy the Wombat who wasn’t nearly as successful at these trials) that he didn’t really do much with Coco until Crash escaped due to the Cortex Vortex failing at which point he started testing and developing her abilities in order to someday use her against Crash.
As for how Coco got rescued relative to when Crash rescued his universe’s Tawna, all I’ll say is just keep watching the Flashback Tapes.

Single boxes I can deal with. Stacks of 4 where you can hit them head on on the back of a polar bear and still miss one *on the bottom* was so frustrating. 😡
@@SMiles.21 I felt the same, but that's because i got used to the bear hitbox and controls after +50 attempts.
That's the reason it was easier.
@@deoxysandmew2162 50? I only wish it took me 50 attempts. I know I had over 100 deaths at one point trying to get all the boxes on the main level. So glad I don't have to do that again.

Anyone else feel a warmth in their heart seeing Crash embracing Cortex when he mentions to work together again? So wholesome
1.) You don’t need the perfect relics for 100%. Just both types of gems and gold relics
2.) They’re not pretending the post-ND games don’t exist. They’ve mentioned in an interview that those games still exist, and the nods to it are proof. Crunch’s name on the fridge, the 4 masks, references to the Elementals, etc.
The chat's commentary of "not to backseat, but..." starting around 1:30:00 is hilarious!
Hollow Knight's developers stated the importance of things that not every player will be able to see, so I kinda like that they didn't hold back on ridiculously hard achievements.
Megaman 9 had a literal Mr. PERFECT achievement, as in NO HIT RUN. It's bragging rights: nothing more, nothing less.
There’s a difference between hiding secrets in a metroidvania game (where exploration is the point) and crash. In here the cryptically hidden boxes are more indicative of poor balance and frustration rather than anything good.
@@thesmooth4515 I'll admit the box hiding in places that the camera literally can't go is bad design, but having a "perfect run" achievement isn't bad.
@@thesmooth4515 2 of the last endings of hollow knight aren't locked behind some kind of exploration at all, but a battle gauntlet with all the bosses in the game after the main story. and u have to go through the whole gauntlet again when you lose to the last boss. whats more u also have to go through a sudden insane platforming part in the story which is super frustrating (path of pain) as a metroidvania player because that kind of thing , well shouldnt really be in a metroidvania game.

@@tylerwagner1978 Yep the hidden boxes and perfect relics in 4 are indicative of poor balancing, it's that simple. Other than that the game is arguably sound.
The n.sane perfect relics are part of 106% ending. You just need the gems, nversed gems and gold relics to just to get the 100% ending.

@@KeeACNH because it's still locking off an ending behind something the majority can't do, at least the 100% ending is more possible for people if they put they choose to put the effort in.
Actually according to completers you need platinum relics too, though they are way more lineant than the plat relics of the past, with the dev relics being the super hard, optional relics
@@lukes.854 As a person that has the gems and n.versed gems I can vouch that they are worth 98% and I'm confident gold Relics are worth 2% .... you also have the option of flashback tapes which are worth 2%.

I believe you only need platinum relics to get the maximum %.
Which is what im gonna do.
The new speed up mechanic is dumb and doesnt work almost half the time.
It destroys the flow of the game, and you usually spin into tnts or nitros without wanted to.
Speed Shoes at least is just giving you the speed and allows you think, how to approach any obstacle with much greater accuracy.
That in itself, makes them NOT fun, even the platinums, which i had rockin' time in the N.sane trilogy.
Hell. I even went back to the game after 2 years or so, just to try and beat some of my times even in Crash 1!
Why? Because that was simple and fun!

PS. Say, when you tried to spin and boost yourself in "Give it a spin" (the irony) was your spin sometimes getting jammed?!
Like... it struggled to make crash or coco spin?! (Irony again, i got the Dev Relic on that level... must be the easiest one then i suppose)

I've only gone for one time trial and got sapphire because I could barely get the triple spin to work and when I unlocked it I just thought it was the death tornado spin, I would have preferred if they just kept the Crash Dash
I get they're trying to do there own thing but still, the Crash Dash was good so why not keep it
And yeah the trials in the N sane trilogy where tough but they were very fun to at least attempt
I love this game but I don't really like the triple spin thing
And yeah I'm pretty sure the purple relics aren't important

Also, slide-spin to the double and triple spin is working for my platinums
@@lukes.854 "Mashing" was a term i used to describe utter spam of the square button that distracts me and (again) disallows me to be accurate with approaching the obstacles.
Time it slightly different, and im incapable of compensating any potential mistake i make that can recover from.
And even then, spinning input does not happen. Like level "give it a spin" (the irony), is one of those levels where the spin gets jammed most of the time.
I dunno why.

Im absolutely loving this game and the playthrough so far, thanks Caddy! Sadly I cant get my hands on this game for a while but I do hope we will see a PC release one day, that would be fantastic. Im so glad Crash is alive and kickin after so long :)

Just so you know, the Yellow Gem that you got is the LAST of the Colored Gems to find. The other three are before that.;)
The cortex boss is SOO much harder if you don’t use the Quantum Mask. Although don’t know why it took you soo long to clock it as it always makes the SFX every time you spawn in.
Plus it is so obvious that he is not retro Crash while wearing it aand what's up with Cad being peeved that bosses suddenly use the special masks, like that hasn't been going from the very first boss. I think the prospect of 106% the game is boiling his brain more then usual, even though he wont be doing it with LP tax.

I didn't notice it either, Kupuna Wa is tiny and is so forgettable, very annoying to use tbh. I liked the boss fight having references to Crash Bandicoot 2 and Crash Twinsanity N. Gin.

A rare good boi interrupts stream
N-Sanely Perfect Relics are such an odd idea. On the one hand, yeah, it’s a neat callback to how Crash 1 requires you to prefect each stage to even get the clear gems. But on the other hand, did anyone *miss* that? Like, was anyone annoyed that the N-Sane Trilogy cut back on that requirement to the point that only the colored gems require perfect runs?
But back on the first hand, I don’t need them to get all the gems and all the costumes, so it’s more like the old platinum relics. But back on the other hand, making them visible makes the self-imposed challenge *feel* required to get everything the game shows you.
I dunno, it’s weird.
My personal way of playing the game is that I do a first run searching for boxes and not caring about deaths. Then I go for a second, quicker run trying to get the flashback tape and the 3 deaths gem. After that? Well, I might end up going for the speed relics after I finish the story, but I dunno if I’ll bother with perfection relics. It’s worked ok for me, except for Food Rush. FUCK Food Rush.

Took me way too many runs to get the tape there. I swear that even Cortex Castle took fewer tape attempts.
@@enlongjones2394 Well, personally speaking, as someone who did all of the perfect relics, I feel like Rush Hour was a lot harder. The pressure of not dying in that final Tawna section where you have to jump across different lanes of traffic is insane
That first level you played....is the bane of my existence. I played it and got all boxes but it took me 57 deaths to get it

Does anyone know if a method to finding the hidden crates pops up later in the game?
Dark Souls 2 had a pair of rings you could get for beating the game with no deaths or for not using any Bonfires.
It was terrible and they never had that again.

The only flaw in the game for me are the controls of the polar bear and the jet board. It's too slippery and the boxes are finicky.
I love the remixed versions of levels with different box layouts, I think they're fun. I also love the challenge of the perfect relics. Though I do agree that they shouldn't be counted for normal game completion percentages. The main thing that bothers me about having to beat levels in one life is that instead of just quickly starting over like if you die, in order to do it in one life you have to sit through a ten second loading screen every time you fuck up. That alone is the single most frustrating thing about this for me because I can easily put in a 5 hour grind for a relic if I need to but the pointless downtime interrupting my flow after every failure is what really gets me.

I dont think switch could run it due to the amount of stuff going on and the input reaction time you need the switched hardware wouldn't be able to keep up

I think the guys at Toys for BOB were like "Alright, we need to make this Crash game difficult if it's going to be taken seriously be the Crash fanbase. So whatever you do, make this game as hard as possible with ridiculous completion requirements!"
Looks like they took this advice too much to heart and ended up making the game TOO difficult!
Its not too hard. It just forces you to change your muscle memory a bit.
I disagree with your complaint about what qualifies as part of "100% completion." I don't think that measuring overall progress does anything to prevent you using one of the other measurements as a victory condition: if you don't want to perfect every level, collecting every gem is just as clear a target.

What i recommend you is to go ONLY for platinum relics!!! (in your spare time, etc etc dont matter)
There is dev times, and they are NOT worth your time.
This new speed mechanic, is utterly dumb and most importantly, totally not fun.
Otherwise game IS fun, minor few things here and there, but they are Passable in my book.
Cant wait to hear your further opinions Caddy, as the game progresses into the more deadly zones.
I dont necessarily *hate* the triple spin movement because it at least takes some skill unlike slide jump spam. But I do agree that the routes for some levels are somewhat tight, frustrating, or downright unforgiving.

The first time I played that Polar Bear level it took me 102 deaths to get all the boxes. 96 the Polar Bear alone. And you have to do it 3 more times =D And sadly there wasn't even an achievement for dying 100 times...

I find the flashback tapes challenging but overall manageable but oh boy the one with the countdown crates kicked my fucking ass! It took me HOURS just to get to the checkpoint!

Just realized that all of the masks except Ika-Ika had their own boss. The bosses were N. Gin, that random sea monster Louise, N. Brio, and Cortex.
Boss N. Gin had Lani-Loli the platform phaser, N. Brio had Akano with the spinning him off the platform, and Cortex had Kapuna-Wa the time mask. The gravity mask didn't have their own boss? And we got a non-mask boss instead (referring to Louise)?? That kinda sucks. I wonder why.

Cadd got a Nsane relic without getting all the gems on one level last vod and didn't noticed... So I think you just have to pass the level without dying, not that difficult as he's saying

I beat it and difficulty comes from not knowing how the level and mechanics works. Its the perfect difficult for a 4th game in the series. It was hard but I ended up beating it anyway and learned like any human should.
