I should have been at this event. As my late Uncle Terry Duggan RIP was the Ape with the Leopard. Thanks for Dan Ritcher for mentioning him . Derek Lyons

Museum of the Moving Image. Thank you for posting. If I can identify any singular event that that had the most profound impact upon my psyche - it was experiencing 2001: A Space Odyssey in Cinerama back in 1968 when I was 13 years old. I left the movie awestruck, not sure if I had experienced a science fiction film, a future prediction, or a theological treatise. The movie cemented my interest in NASA, space exploration, and science and inspired me to become a Satellite Systems Engineer.

Douglas Rain, who played the voice of HAL 9000, parodied himself as the voice of the evil computer in Woody Allen's "Sleeper"
He died less than one month after the recording of this panel-talk.

Douglas was brilliant in The Master Builder. His vocal delivery was amazing. Shades of HAL 9000.

52:15 - 2001 A Space Odyssey is in the Vatican Film Library as one of the 45 most important films of the 20th century. It is also the newest (1968!!!) film on the "Art" section of the list.
