The weak mechanical strength sounds like a manufacturing problem, possibly not enough heat. You could try heating all the LEDs with heat gun or reflow oven (make sure all plastic parts are removed).

The power supply out power too small. Try to adjust brightness to 30% when connect signal cable. Then testing in white color.
